  1. Thanks. It looks interesting. I'll check it out when I have more time. (Now you know why I've never been successful with these--not enough hours in the day ) Suz
  2. WOW! That was fast. Okay, here's a reviewed link from my website: My all-time #1 favorite free classified ad site is Craig's List (http://frankfurt.craigslist.de/) No hype, no popups, regional categories, up to 4 free photos. These ads really pull. Ed has sold 2 items there, already. Ed's Hint: If you don't get immediate results, delete your ad and list it again, to keep it near the top. Submitted by Suz, for Fun4TheMoney.com We'd have to experiment with the links, URLs, etc., to figure out what's easiest for webmasters to copy and paste. So now I'd post the above message in the Freebies folder, with a title like "Craig's List" or something, but the subtitle would be "Reviewed Link" or "Syndicated Content" or something that we'll all recognize and use for all of our reviews. Now, let's say you like my review. You copy and paste it to your site, and VOILA! My SEO goes up because you linked to me, and maybe somebody will click through from your site to mine if they like what I wrote and increase my traffic. Now it's your turn. You pick a site, review it in the format we agree upon, post it in the proper category, and someone else picks up your link and puts it on their site. An on it goes. WADAYATHINK? Suz
  3. This is just the beginning of an idea, so jump in if you can improve on it. We all need traffic and links are the best way, but all sites aren't suitable, linking takes time, etc. If we started our own formatted site reviews, with links both to the site we're reviewing and back to our own site in the sig, and made them really nice (spell check, stick to a set of guidelines, etc.), then we could all benefit by being able to pick and choose what's suitable for our own sites and improve our content, get the benefit of increased traffic when our reviews are picked up by others, support Xisto by posting it all here for other visitors to see, and also help support our favorite sites.I've been checking out syndicated free web content, which is what gave me this idea. If we set this up right, with a code in the subtitle and everybody doing them the same way, we could post our reviews in all the relevant categories--games, freebies, whatever--and we'd be able to recognize a "content" review/link at a glance, when we want to update our links pages. Anybody else think this would fly or I should I just crawl back under my rock and take a nap? Suz
  4. Until you find what you're looking for, Internet Explorer comes close. It has everything you asked for except syntax highlighting, and you don't have to go looking for it. You would need to backup your file, first, because you have to save your changes before viewing, but then all you do is hit F5 to see your changes. That means it isn't a true preview mode, but you can see your new page before uploading, so that's something. Anyway, it works in a pinch. Suz
  5. I put my site up for review and was told I need more game links on my Play page. Please go check it out. If your fave isn't there, please come back here and post it, with a review if you want to. I'll pick it up and if it's appropriate for my site, I'll rate it and link to it. Links with personal recommendations are always better, IMHO. Fun4TheMoney.com Thx, Suz
  6. I'm working on a site for writers. It isn't ready to launch, yet. Would you like to swap links?ePennyPress Suz
  7. WOW! Thanks to all of you for taking the time to visit and review my site. Great feedback. I will definitely look into CSS.These message boards are AWESOME!Suz
  8. I have Google Adsense. I guess it's an option, cuz I didn't have to jump through hoops for it. I just wandered over there and picked it up. Suz
  9. I'm trying to decide if I should link to real money game sites from my general audience web site. Right now I only have free game links on my Play page, and no links to casinos. My site doesn't have any content for children, but I still want to be considered "family-friendly." I'd really like your input. Here's a link to my site. Fun4TheMoney Thanks for your time. Suz
  10. I put a Game page on my new website. Fun4TheMoney.com So far, all I've linked to are free online game sites. I'm not really comfortable linking to the pay sites, or gambling sites. Have any of you ever played online for real money? Would it be irresponsible to link to $ game sites on my "general audience" web site? My site isn't for kids, but I have no other "adult" content and don't want any. If you do play for $, and think it's okay, please share your favorite sites. If you Don't play for $, and don't think it's okay, please share your thoughts. I think I'll try to figure out how to do a poll for this. Thanks for your time. Suz
  11. Fun 4 The Money All feedback welcome. I want to start promoting this site and selling ads, but I want to make sure it's ready, first, so you folks get to be my dress rehearsal. If you think I need more content, first, I'll hold off. If you see anything else that needs improvement, post here or send me an email. I'LL TAKE ALL THE HELP I CAN GET. Thanks. Suz
  12. When signing up for all those red-hot free web sites out there, be sure to read the user agreements, carefully. I know you're all sweet, gentle, wonderful people, but if some evil gremlin got into your code and uploaded something less than desireable to your web site, YOU COULD BE LIABLE FOR MORE THAN JUST HAVING YOUR SERVICE CANCELED. Here is a quote from the user agreement for the .TK free sites. "In addition to your indemnification obligations set forth in Section 14.2 herein, in the event we determine that you have violated any of the terms of this Agreement, you will be responsible to us for any and all costs incurred by us in enforcing the terms of this Section 11.4. "Be very careful, folks. Suz
  13. FreeSticky.com These look interesting, but I haven't had time to play around with them, yet. They're for content rather than behind-the-scenes tools. Suz
  14. Fun4TheMoney Home Page I just got set up with Adsense. I'm a little nervous about the abuse problem. One of my friends or relatives could go nutz clicking through, thinking they're doing me a favor, and get me bounced out of the program. A prankster or disgruntled visitor could have the same effect. Also, I could see an ad that interests me, on my own site, and be afraid to click through. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. On the positive side, it's been a great learning experience about meta tags and page content. My first attempt, on my Shopping Page, resulted in nothing but a public service announcement, while the free samples page I was linking to had a whole column of Google ads down the side. It took me about 15 minutes of tweaking my tags and text (and sneaking a peek into that other site's tags ) to get my page fixed so that Google could put decent ads on my page. I'm sure the result is now also more search engine friendly. My site is still in the very early development phase, but I plan to make it big enough and good enough to attract real advertisers. Then if Google gets uppity, I can fire them instead of the other way around. Suz
  15. WOW! Thanks for the great idea. Also thanks to all who responded about the fly. That ad should really be yanked. I'm sure I'm not the only sissy who gets scared right off the boards when it comes on. I never saw the ad--just heard the noise and made my escape, cussing the whole time. From now on, I'll just hang in there (until I get this ad blocker set up). Suz
  16. About 20% of the time, when I'm on the forums, I hear a buzzing sound, intermittantly. It sounds just like a fly buzzing around in here. I'm afraid to stay in the forums when that happens, since I don't know what it means. If you know what causes this, please let me know. TIA,Suz
  17. My mistake, sorry. I should have clicked through before posting. Since the link had my name on it, I thought it was going to link back to one of my entries. I thought I'd hit on a great opportunity for generating traffic, but the link just goes back to the main message board page. It isn't a link to me at all. Is there a way I can delete this whole thread and not waste anybody else's time? Actually, this can still work for other boards. I found an old message of mine on suite 101 from 1999. I think I'll do some digging. I'll bet there are some forums out there with good search engine rankings that would link directly to our entries. If those boards also allow links to our sites, forums could help generate traffic if used properly. Suz
  18. I use a PO Box for the address and NEVER give out my phone #. If they reject me for the phone # and I really want to sign up, I make something up. Only eBay and PayPal have my real phone number. The Tax ID thing is scary. If you don't have one, you have to use your SSN. That's an invitation to identity theft, so it should only go to somebody you really trust. Suz
  19. When we were desperate, we made $2,000-$4,000 a month on eBay (did that for almost 3 years). Everything we sold came from garage sales. We had a garage sale of our own to get the money to start with, so it never cost us one penny to start our business. The downside is that we worked our tails off to do it. I spent up to 16 hours a day at the computer and my husband just about ruined himself boxing up huge exercise machines and other heavy stuff for shipping. Between us we probably worked at least 120 hours a week. I even worked on Christmas Day. Suz
  20. Google search for fun4themoney I check the big search engines, regularly, to see if I'm there, yet. Today I tried Google, comparing it to Alltheweb.com (which I thought was powered by Google). I'm not on alltheweb.com, but there, on Google, were responses I posted on this message board. Since I've only been here for a week or so, I thought that was pretty amazing. What a heads-up organization we have, here, at Trap-17. YEE-HAH! Follow my link and try your own IDs. I figure if I'm up there, so are the rest of you. I also checked one of my other names, countrynaturals. That was kind of strange. Google picked up several old pages from when we were selling our farm. They're all dead, now--moved, acually--so the links don't work. None of my new pages are there. I changed that site at least 4 months ago, and haven't done anything since to alter tags or submissions to search engines for that site. I guess that means Google is at least 4 months behind in updating their links. Suz
  21. I've made good money on eBay and as a freelance writer online. I've never found any other way to make money on the Internet, but I'm still looking. (I tried working a paid membership site, but all I did was work my *BLEEP* off for $2 a week.) Suz
  22. I wondered about that. With no glory, no money, and no special treatment, being an editor must get old, fast. I'm guessing that a lot of people sign up just to get their own sites listed, then slip out the back door. Suz
  23. WOW! Hotscripts.com is a GREAT SITE. Terrific layout. When a site looks that good, it's easy to trust the content--you know somebody has their act together. Suz
  24. The site itself is cluttered--like digging through my junk closet, looking for an old manuscript --but sicne you say the stuff is good, I put it in my faves--thanks. Suz
