Well, not to highjack the thread, but since you mention it, I've not been able to upload pics to imagefilez for the past two days. Do you know anything about that? I don't know anything about support for that site so forgive me if I'm completely out of line asking you...

Simply following the rules as they were laid out is the only fair thing to do. Anything else irritates some of us. Yes, I was one of the complainers. I hope you don't take that to mean we complainers are ungrateful or wish ill of you or the Trap staff, we're just sticklers for following rules and not changing the parameters after the event has begun. I think I speak for all the complainers when I say we're delighted to be hosted here, delighted at the anniversary event and we were very happy with the prospect of free credits for the occasion. As for the extra work Velma has to do, I'm not going to be too sympathetic because the posts we made were all edited to show post #1, #2, #3, etc. and St. Mike said he'd send in a list to reflect the members who posted and how many credits they should get. I was satisfied that all was in order and others were as well. That's why it was such a shock to us when we didn't see the credits that we were expecting show up in our accounts. Imagine our irritation after spending all that time waiting and talking about it in the shoutbox. Anyway, I'm glad she finally told you, Shree, and I'm glad you're setting things right. I hate for this event to leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth just because someone couldn't do the right thing in the first place.

If their's any category of people I hate (and I'm not a hater at all), it'd have to be that group of people who chooses to hate a group of people who do something they disapprove of. It totally figures that Bordaforx is the topic starter because he's just that sort of person. Someone who hates an entire group of people just because they all have one thing in common: a habit that he disapproves of. You know, I go to the doctor every now and again and I'm always asked "Do you smoke?" and I'm always honest in my answer: "I have on average 1.5 cigarettes per day." I recently discovered that I've been labeled a non-smoker at the V.A. Doctors and RNs at the VA don't think it's that disgusting and they see the people affected by it the most. They don't judge me to be a bad person, but somehow BF is above all that. Well, I'll tell you something BF, there's a good way of alienating good people around you and you're doing it quite well.

I do believe the answer to your question is a definite maybe. The reason it could work is if it was actually engineered for the specific laptop in question and that's going to be tough since there are so many different case/cooling designs out there. I believe the goal of a device such as the Targus Chillhub is to move air over the bottom of the case, as is the goal of most of these products. If the case isn't dissipating much heat from the CPU(s) to begin with, then this would be futile. One thing I love about my MacBook Pro is the case is actually aluminum and also acts as a heat sink, quickly dissipating heat effectively. Furthermore my computer has two fans that draw air in from the sides (probably from the speaker grills) and out the back side below the screen hinge. The previous generation of this computer has simple small holes in the back for the air to travel through and they constricted the flow of air enough to generate heat issues and cause problems! Now the air flow has been improved by replacing the holes with long slits which allow much more air to flow out the back and the heat issues are gone. Just one little over site in engineering and design can make all the difference in the world. That's why I always say, let someone else test out the first generation of a product so you can buy the improved second generation (after reading the reviews, of course!). I wonder if there's a product out there that has multiple USB links to gather more voltage from the computer... I think most laptops share voltage between USB ports so maybe that wouldn't solve the low voltage/low fan speed problem, just a thought.

For some reason my video feed stopped after about the half way point, but, up to that point at least, I was very happy with the effectiveness of the video with regard to dispensing the information and message of the 911 Truth Movement. The producers broke it down in a very easy to understand and effective way using simple terms and easy-to-understand language so that most anyone can understand. If, after watching this video, and understanding the content therein, a person doesn't have questions that the official story doesn't address, then I think that person isn't conscience or that person intentionally is wearing rose colored glasses or blinders and simply doesn't want to know what's really going on. It's an admitted fact now that the attack on Pearl Harbor was foretold to the president and various government entities and was allowed to take place without warning (not including the air-raid sirens that went off moments before the attack). Furthermore, it's a fact of history that elements of military hardware were positioned in such a way as to raise the toll of damage from the pending attack for the reason of making the attack more effective for the enemy. Japan was provoked in to carrying out the attack by our blockade limiting or eliminating their means of receiving oil and other vital supplies. Entities within our own government were complicit in carrying out the attack on the US Navy base, Pearl Harbor, bringing the U.S. into WWII. This is all documented fact for those who are willing to do the research. And yet, so many people have a hard time believing the United States government would carry out or, at the very least, be an accessory to, at attack on our own soil nearly six years ago? That's a nice write-up Buff. I'd add that rural vs urban living will dictate what kind of security system you have. We bought a less expensive and much lower quality wireless system that is all monitored by a central monitor that's connected to a phone line. The command center is programed to my cell phone to call me if a sensor is tripped. If we bring the cats with us on a longer trip the motion sensors can be active as well as all the door sensors. When the phone rings I can turn around and call a neighbor and ask them to investigate or if it's a bad time I can call the county sheriff and ask a deputy be dispatched but that's typically 45 minutes to an hour response time. We put lights on timers and things like that too. But, in my mind, criminals who've got you in their sites will be looking for unusual activity, and the lights will certainly be unusual. There are several key weaknesses in our "security" system:(Actually, I'm not going to list the weaknesses here. You can't be too careful... :)We always turn off the main water supply and relieve the pressure from all the pipes by opening all the faucets when we'll be gone for a few days or more. I'll actually empty water heater tanks and turn off the heaters when we expect to be gone for longer then a couple weeks. Most houses don't like you to leave for longer then that though. Things stop working when you're gone too long! We've got a surveillance system with four cameras attached to our internet connection that can be monitored real-time or reviewed at our leisure from the internet anywhere we go too. Cameras scare people off, even when other things don't. I highly recommend them.

I'd recommend you save up for more of a computer then you're currently apparently budgeted for. Personally, even if I were a "windoz" person I wouldn't discount the Mac product line. They consistently put only the best hardware in their computers which makes them seem more expensive, but after seeing what they include with the software and everything added up, I think you'll see the value. As an added bonus, you can install Wondoz on a partition if you like and you'll have two computers in one! Another thing I'd look at is consumer reports which consistently rates Apple as best for customer support and low rate of failure, etc. Read a recent issue from your local library for their recommendations. Make sure, whatever you decide has an 800 MHZ motherboard. That is your indication it's got Intel's newest chipset. Get the fastest chip you can, currently Core2Duo at 2.4Mhz and put no less then 2 GB of RAM on board with at least a 100GB 5400 or 7200 RPM Hard Drive. I wouldn't go less then 15 inches for the monitor either. Good luck!

So I've decided to buy a new receiver from viewsat called the Viewsat PVR7000, a Fortec 90cm dish with motor and associated hardware. The entire package was ordered from gosatellite, motorized package 6. Now, once I get everything I ordered, I'll mount the dish, point it, and connect it and figure out how to program it. Sounds like a good time, eh? We'll be watching free satellite tv in no time and we'll be able to record, pause, rewind, and all that good stuff too with the 320GB Hard Drive that I opted for. Am I the only one on the forum who's into free stuff like this? Anyone else run a FTA satellite in their house? Anyone want to? Talk to me! (By the way, all of this is completely 100% legal.) Update 6/21: So I finally had to admit to myself that I'm unable to point or aim this beast myself and I asked for some help from an acquaintance in town. I borrowed a compass and a signal meter that plugs inline at the dish. It's real sensitive but doesn't tell me which satellite I'm looking at. That's ok though. At least with these tools I succeeded in acquiring a satellite tonight, even it it wasn't the satellite I was looking for, and I was able to harvest over 400 channels with good clarity and I even watched part of a popular show, though I'm not going to mention which one. Tomorrow, I'll put that experience to good use and try and acquire more birds and hopefully soon I'll have the whole lot of them. At least now I know everything's working. That's a good start! Update 7/1: So I've had the whole thing up and running with varying degrees of success for a week or more now and ended up buying the satfinder for $20. Now it seems to like the reference satellite a little too much so I've got to try a couple things in the software to try and shake it out of its stupor. I'll be doing that tonight and I'll post back to update the progress. [hr=noshade] [/hr] So it's been some time now since first buying the whole expensive FTA setup and I'm sure you'll all be glad to hear I'm still on the air and linked up to various satellites. Everything's smoothed out in the world of no cable or satellite bills and I really don't have any regrets. I encourage you to do your own research and draw your own conclusions. I'd also recommend a different receiver, though I won't stick my neck out and actually say which one, mainly because different receivers in different price ranges do different things and have different features. The one I bought is still pretty much doing its job, though I think, in hindsight, I should've bought a fixed antenna instead of the more expensive motorized one. Either way, though, it's more than paid for itself already. Next time I purchase one, I'll buy a HD capable receiver. Maybe by then I'll have that plasma or something like that that's HD ready...

45? (113 F) My computer passes 45 C within about 15 seconds of waking it! I think you may want to re-visit that number... Sounds like you're living in a freezer on a factory trawler or something and doing nothing with your computer other then the screensaver and email!It's nothing to see my computer go past 161 F (71 C) on a regular basis (it's at 138 F right now) and it's new, but it's still got a thermal shutdown safety switch. The first thing I'd do if I were you, Mike, is take it apart and blow those fans with some canned air. Dust is your enemy and will cause your computer to overheat in a hurry. Second, I'd consider something similar to what BH is describing. Just getting it off the table can make all the difference in the world! Many computers have design flaws that make cooling more challenging then others. I had trouble with my Toshiba Satellite turning off when it was sitting in the car seat next to me (streets and trips) at work and it never occurred to me it was just overheating! I just thought it was getting old and tired. After blowing out its fan, it runs much cooler and doesn't shut down when it's on the couch like it used to. Blow out those fans!

Oh, yeah... That's why I'm only a little more then half through my 160GB HD.... I've got all my music files stored in the .5TB drive up on the shelf. Makes a nice book end and saves my internal HD mucho space! I may have to buy another one as a matter of fact! This time it'll be WIFI networkable though. I'm tired of always having to plug into everything!

You know, I don't even think I've actually read the Great Gatsby so I can't actually offer an opinion on the plot, however I can tell you that reading it twice (it's kinda hard to keep in your memory if I recall) will be valuable if you ever get on Jeopardy... It's like the Harvard Classics. There are many volumes (heck the Gatsby might be one of them!) and if you read and comprehend to the level of actually being able to write a good essay on each one, it's said you've attained the level of a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard. I forgot to mention that the faster drive is $150 more then the slower version: 160 GB 5400 RPM which comes standard. So I ordered the laptop standard and we'll put in a new one when this one fills up. No biggie. By then they'll probably have 320 GB drives for under $200 and I'll slide that one in. I'm seven months into my laptop which has the same HD and I'm just a little over half full. Should be a while before I use the whole thing up.

So I'm configuring a new laptop from Apple and I'm undecided as to which HD option to go with. I think there may even be a 250 GB 4200RPM option and that'd win over the 200 GB. But let's just compare the 160 to the 200 read/write and access speeds. Which should I get? Is the speed difference compelling enough to make the choice easy or is it just a matter of similar speeds and different capacity?

The National Security Agency of the United States actually took this kind of thing from art to science and their little city that doesn't appear on maps in suburban Washington D.C.(actually north in Maryland) doesn't emit any RF due to careful construction and diligence. What, you might ask, do they use to cover their windows to block RF? They use gold. That's right, gold. Gold foil, just one micron thick allows sunlight in but blocks RF. It's actually not all that expensive and lots of other places use it as well, like large corporate headquarters that like their proprietary secrets to stay secret.... I believe the paint you read about, Mike, uses the same concept. It's metallic. The problem with paint is it's not as effective as building RF security into the design of the building as paint will always have holes, but if your building incorporates a copper mesh cage all around with gold covered windows etc., then you won't need ugly paint and your RF shielding would stand the test of time much longer. Still, I'd like my car to be painted with this nifty paint, maybe it'd absorb the RF from those police RADAR guns instead of reflecting it back...

Wow! I'm not sure how much longer this thread will last with all the name-calling and threats of physical violence getting thrown about! Mellow out guys, it's just one person's opinion and he does makes some points worth considering without getting all personal and stuff. In my opinion, if Saddam was guilty, then Janet Reno should be hanged for a similar crime. Funny how no one's willing to prosecute her though... But, let's face it, most of the world's leaders are probably guilty of something similar and they'll mostly get away with all the blood-letting as long as they worship the world elite; their masters. Saddam was ultimately hanged because he stopped worshiping. Remember, he was put in power by the U.S.'s CIA some decades ago, but the power was more then he could handle and he finally decided he was invincible and could disregard orders given to him by the U.S. That was his fatal mistake. Now, lets stop being so personal, clean up the language, focus on the facts, and try and have a clean, healthy debate. Alright?
