I think he meant that they sent him this email not even from the board address, but just kind of as a prank..but if it did come from the site/board address.. then you may very well have been hacked, and as everyone else said, check your logs, update.. and make sure no admins(or mods!) have been added. i would say check the privledges of the last 20 new members or so.

This is a nice idea, and i used it that way for a while.One major problem with it. some servers will only accept a certain number of connections, and when you hit the limit they drop you to just one. making pages load slower than you can possibly imagine, these values were set lower by default for a reason...

The lame part is in XP, you cant really 100% remove MSN messenger. its built in as "windows messenger", but you can selctively delete the infected files while in safe mode, after you do a control pannel uninstall... which is how i had to get rid of this when i got it.

Ahh, i heard about this. as soon as i found out it was basically a social enginering hack, i was happy. no one has made a real browser hijack for firefox yet

Agreed.On occasion it can be somewhat funny, if only to laugh at the idiot. but it quickly gets annoying. It makes whoever is typing that way look incredibly stupid. i think it originally started from that old forum/bbs thing of using numbers to uncensor words if there was a swearing filter(i remember seeing lots of "th1s" in the old days) and someone probably started doing who sentences or even entire posts that way. it was funny or even cool at first, but now its just overused and annoying. the main proof of this is i now get spam... in leet... for instance today i got "|3UY a +1m3sh4r3!!!" or some nonsense like that.This reminds me of a friends forum, he has it set up so that "teh" is turned into "the" automatically, and posts in "ALL CAPS" are turned into "All Caps". nice idea..

I remember something like this from a while back with the intel chips having Mr.T and various nintendo characters(Mario, koopa's, etc) engraved in the silicon like this.. anyone else remember that? I tried to look it up on google, but i couldn't find it.That page only has 3 on it, there was a page with 100+ of these...

I would rather see a google linux distro for the masses, thats a better idea than trying to make an entire new OS in my opinion...

My question is how did they get over the heat issues? the SINGLE core 3.2ghz ones where already overheating rather nicely.

I always do these twice, to see if i get diffrent results. welll.... With the extension one, i got mpg both times: And with the OS one, i got apple DOS the first time, and windows 98 the second time.. Ahh well, thats fine.. i think im the only person on the planet who thinks that 98se was the peak of windows untill 2000 pro came out...

My friend got one of these, sure it's a decent mp3 player for the money....But its also totally indestructable. his brother got all pissed at him and took the thing and stomped on it, then threw it at the wall and smashed it into the wall a few more times.Still works perfectly

Nero, easy media creator(and most other ones, including roxio and alcohol 120%. although i do agree k3b rocks) is way to bogged down, it takes almost 20 seconds to even show that anything happened from me clicking the icon to launch it... on my 3ghz pc. i know this is a subjective test, but nero starts in about 3 seconds. and when i just need to burn a cd to play in the car/on the go really quick before i leave... it kinda helps to just have it pop open fast and run.

I use the one built into my SMC router. works much better, none of those prompt's/popups asking to allow stuff. you just set the ports and connection type for what your gonna use once, and your good.because having the computer run its own protection isn't a smart idea, you could get a virus/trojan that would disable the software firewall and still show on the screen that it was doing its job.

i used it for a while, but it blocks a number of things without asking that it shouldn't or that it makes no sense to block, so i just bought a router with a built in firewall. all you have to do is forward the ports your gonna use once with that, and it never asks you again.

Just as a note, even though they say to uninstall the old one first, i installed it over it on all 3 of my pc's, and it worked fine. even kept my bookmarks and cookies and everything.its good that they fixed that, the old updates used to wipe everything.

there was some scam in NY a few months ago where some street vendor had made a really detailed fake one and sold 3 or 4 of them for about $500.... i read that at some news site.. i think it was linked from google news...

whenever my internet goes out, i just google "free internet *city name*" or "free internet *area/postal code*" and just use whicever one doesn't have software or banners to install.worked for me so far whenever my ditzy cable goes out.

Hmm... theres a number of things, the first thing would be to finish any number of things i started.. such as a whole stack of playstation 1 and N64 RPG's that are like 40% compleate, then i would finish all of those little stupid model kits i got for my 5th and 6th birthdays(Build your own working paper clock in 123182938 easy steps!)by that time it would probably be the 24th century, so i would just go to the moon

the super nintendo, it was the peak(imo) of 2D game consoles, and had some of the most entertaining, classic games of all time. stuff like super mario world and mario kart. those still haven't been done better even in 3d, and there's stuff like kirby's super star or secret of evermore than i've never really seen anything like it again. so thatsmy favorite system... if only the games werent so hard to find..

Final fantasy 6, it was the last one in 2d, and also had some of the best 2D graphics and effects ever in a game. the story was much less cliched than the FF7 one. and the soundtrack was amazing.

I remember that band, they had a few good songs.. but for the most part they were really annoying. then again, most bands.. even really good bands, break up after a time. look at the beatles and stuff...
