  1. Hi krap,

throwing stones?? Stating the obvious?? I know the pic isn't being linked.. the question is WHY??

Well the picture IS on the server in the folder(s) :

    My original question:

Does the file need to be in a specific folder (or subfolder) at my website so that it shows up (displays correctly) in my signature.

Thanks in advance for constructive replys

  2. Thanks to NilsC,I'm posting this so other members can benefit from the solution- if they should ever encounter the same problem.SOlUTION:The "www" folder & the "public_html" folderS contain copies of the same webpage files (ie. your webpages). The two folders must be "synchronized" (ie. contain the same exact copys of the same webpages.)FOR WHATEVER REASON SOMETIMES THE TWO FOLDERS FAIL TO SYNCHRONIZE PROPERLY.SOLUTION:STEP 1: Delete the webpage you are having problems with in the "www" folder's subfolder (usually it's inside the "/_sgt" subfolder inside the "www" folder).STEP 2: upload via ftp a new copy of the updated webpage to the "public_html" folder's subfolder(usually inside the "/_sgt" subfolder inside the "public_html" folder). The two files should be synchronized now & the new/updated webpage should display properly in your webbrowser.Mine DID !!Thanks again NilsCRGPHNX

  3. Hi all,Here's the problem:I ftp'd a updated webpage file (ie. corrections/changes made) to the correct subfolder in "public_html" folder. I know it's the correct folder because thats where it was stored before & the address shown in my webbrowser address line is correct. The new (ie updated corrected file) does not appear in the webbrowser after a "successful" file upload. The new/updated file on the server shows the correct file creation date (ie. not the old file's creation date). I'm using Filezilla set to port 21. Have never had this problem untill the last 5 days or so (ie. Filezilla workd perfectly to refresh/update the file on the server.) I have deleted all offline content & cookies & files in the webbrowser "Internet options" to refresh the view of the webpage file each time before attempting to have the server show me the new/updated file- but it's still showing the old file. I have even shutdown & re-booted the puter to ensure a new copy of IE webbrowser.Just to check- I also did the following:1) I downloaded (via ftp) a copy of the supposedly "new/corrected file" from the server (ie. the one that does not work).2) I did a checksum compare of the new/corrected file which I uploaded (ie. copy stored on my computer) with the dowloaded supposedly "new/corrected file" from the server.THE CHECKSUMS ARE NOT THE SAME! 3) I manually viewed the source code for the 2 files.... the supposedly "new/corrected file" downloaded from the server is NOT the file which I uploaded. It's the old uncorrected file.I have repeated the entire process including a fresh, new ftp upload several times with the same results. Please AdviseThanksRGPHNX

  4. Hi all,Just a minor problem,The image I chose to use in my forum signature doesn't display when I go back to view my posts. It just shows as a blank white box w/ red X in it. I'm 95% certain I used the correct syntax to code it into the signature. Uploaded a image to the root directory of my hosted website at Xisto.Does where the image is hosted make a difference??Any tips??/ suggestions??RGPHNX

  5. Hi mizako,The admin permissions for file access is one of the "bugs" (i think I remember reading) that MS attempted to "fix" with SP2. You can check(search) at the MS website for patches/upgrades etc. related to KW search "file access" or possibly "file permissions" etc. I'm not a fan of their search utility because it's so limited re: you must know the exact terminology to search for though but maybe you can fins it there.Hope this helps,RGPHNX

  6. Hi sunkist,
    just like "snlildude" said

if you call your images using the src attribute "/images/xxxx.jpg", then all your all your images will be visible no matter how deep it is inside your directory.

for clarification...the tag should look something like this:

    <img src= .../images/yourimagename.jpg >

make sure you specify the height , width etc. attributes after the ".jpg" and before the ">"
    Hope this helps,
    RGPHNX

  7. Hi Amezis,
you might also try "Spybot Search & destroy" program. If it can't delet the bug automatically.. then you might want to post back & tell us which version of Windows you'r using so someone can look for the dll file (ie.

    %Windows%/system32/osmim.dll

) you referenced. That way we might be able to tell if it can be "safely" deleted.
    Hope this helps,
    RGPHNX
PS-post back & let everyone know how the problem was resolved... so others can learn from your experience.

  8. Hi all,
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately the problem is still unsolved.
The IE6 browser settings are already set as beseven suggested above re:

"Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced --> Multimedia --> Play Animations in Web Pages."

.The gifs are purchased from several different commercial image services.. so I don't know how they were created.
Note: the gifs display as static (ie. non-animated/not moving) when viewing with IE 6. <<< THIS IS THE PROBLEM
The gifs display correctly as animated with a continuous loop (ie. they just keep on playing) when viewed with Netscape Navigator 7.2 .

    Any further suggestions ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  10. Hi Hobo,Some computer brands "prefer" matched memory cards from the same manufacturer(IE. ALL CARD THE SAME SIZE ..EG. ALL CARDS 128mb ETC) .. others don't care. Check with Toshiba to see if it matters.. it probably won't. It shouldn't matter how you match the sizes... because all newer computers (P 1 and above) don't care if you mix n' match different memory sizes.Just put the largest size memory card into the slot that your computer accesses first (see the users manual) as this usually gives you the best memory performance on some brands.Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  11. Hi all, when are we ALLLL going to learn that MS "updates/upgrades" are full of bugs. If you trust them to do a professional/safe/complete (choose one) job... then you get what you deserve for your misguided loyalty. Always WAIT to check other peoples oppinions re: the "safety" of MS updates and ALWAYS BACK UP (image your computer is even better) your total computer HD BEFORE you use any MS "upgrades" er.. aka. "crashware".RGPHNX

  12. Hi all,Before anyone answers this I already know it's probably because of the way that the different browser programs are coded. I'm looking for a more technical explaination for more insight(s) into understanding how servers work (ie. interact w/webbrowsers etc.). Question: Does anyone know why IE ver6 retrieves) my webpages from the "_sgt" subfolder in the "public_html" folder on the server,...while on the other hand Netscape Navigator ver7.2 retrieves the same wepage from the "_sgg" subfolder in the "public_html" folder.Anybody??RGPHNX

    Notice from snlildude87:
I deleted some of the excessive question marks :)

  13. Hi Solar, your problem DEFINITELY sounds like a hardware malfunction. Get yourself a Linux or DOS based(NOT windows) hardware Diagnosis program & run it. If you can't find one by searching...and you need specifics re: where to get one... just Pm me.iF THE DIAGNOSIS PROGRAM won't run at all (ie. you get the same "black" boot screen..THEN you can be 100% sure the problem is hardware & not the Windows OSHope this helpsRGPHNX

  14. Hi all,Just a few notes on firewall functionality.First, Windows firewall DOES NOT BLOCK ALL outgoing ports/processes/applications etc. from accessing the net. This is a MAJOR security problem if you get a trojan/worm etc. that can turn your puter into a "zombie" & could get you "blacklisted" by your ISP. Blacklisted means your ISP will cut off your internet access & it's extremely difficult to convince them to re-start your service(ie. LOTS of begging etc.).Second, Zone Alarm & Kerio DO BLOCK all outgoing access permissions to the net unless you specifically tell them to allow the program to go there. Have heard some complaints here at the forums re: this - but HEY -thats what a good firewall is supposed to do. Just as a side note - personally heard Kevin Mitnik say that Zone Alarm "is the best" firewall out there. Yes thats a real quote from a broad cast radio interview. If you won't take my word for it maybe you'll take the word of a master hacker or maybe check out Kevin's security site on the web.True these firewalls are not for "beginners" but when was the last time you got something really top notch excellent without putting at least some personal effort into it?Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  15. Hi All,Have used Crap Cleaner for over 2 ys. It's never messed up any Win OS or registry files. Does a very thorough & safe job so far. It only deletes internet related stuff (ie. files & URL registry entrys, cookies etc.). Does'nt repace the functionality of AdAware or Spybot or other trojan/worm removal programs. You'll still need those progs. to clean the other stuff.Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  16. Hi Dluki,Maybe you could post the javascript code your trying to insert? It would help. The error your getting is most likely related to an improper syntax for the tag your trying to use OR ita non-allowed tag for the version of html/xml/xhtml your using to code your pages. Can't be more specific without more info.Hope this helps,RGPHNX
