  1. W00t! seems like theres an error when you were unzipping the files. The RO server can't find specific files for it to run correctly. Please read the installation notes. (Sorry, there's not much help i can give on this one). Maybe you zipped the /maps/ folder in another directory by mistake??
  2. All in all: a good site. Well written. You have tallent. Just one word of advice to all web designers, please give appropriate credits to the owners the scripts that you downloaded from. Its only fair that they share the credit.Anyways, back to the topic, you might add a 'back to home' link on your 'art' link. The choice of colours are interesting.Apart from that, you might want to change the PHPBB logo in the head of your forum. As long as you dont delete the footer saying 'powered by PhpBB', your gonna be fine.
  3. Try this forum: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/8780-html-tags-and-examples-condensed-form-of-course-from-my-site/ It teaches you on the basics of HTML. [if you're new to web building, read this post. ( haha... a little self advertising once and a while never hurts). And never leave your best friend, Google, behind. p/s. Flash sites does not suck. It's cool.
  4. In Windows:you run command prompt (or start-> run ->cmd). then type ping XX.XX.XX.XX (X = ip address). If you dont know the if address, just ping using the url (e.g. ping https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl ).Or if you'd like to continuously ping someone, just add -t at the back. e.g. ping https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl -t. It won't cause that much of a fuss for the pinged (haha) person. Usually I use the continuous ping on my ISP. Why I do this? so that if I get a 404 error (page not found), I'd know whether its my ISP service or other networking problems. I don't know how to ping in Linux as i'm not a hacker as well .Pinging is sending a packet of data to a certain computer. Once the packet is recieved it will be echoed back to you. The time it needs to go back and forth is call latency. Hence, the use of 'ping' is to find out the time it takes for the information to be sent to that computer and back. A low latency should be under 20 ms. If it goes over 1000 ms over an extended period of time, you should check with your ISP.
  5. Yep, really neat. I've played around with the computer remote thingi before. I used my SE W550i to control my PC via Bluetooth. (Switching it off and ect). I was even able to move the mouse and stuff, so it was kinda cool at first, watching movies on my computer as I laze hapily on my bed 10 M away...But as Mjay06 stated, it kinda gets boring after a while.
  6. What kinda error messages? Please state... its in the command promt right? If it is do this: 1) Right click on the command prompt title bar -> edit -> mark 2) Mark the errors it gives out. (The errors only... there is no need for the whole thig) 3) ctrl + c 4) post it here I'll see what i can remember
  7. Dreamweaver is kind of advanced for the beginner. I'd rather you start out with MS Frontpage. Building from there is quite straight forward, very easy to maintain, and you can build your site with little knowledge of html. If you'd like a few neat stuff to put into your website, I'd recomend http://www.dynamicdrive.com/. Trust me, Its cool. There's tons of free scripts lying around the webspace, its a matter of you trying to find it. If a dog is a man's best friend in life, in the web, your best friend is google (https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl - if you don't know that is). Here's a forum that might help you out in HTML: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/8780-html-tags-and-examples-condensed-form-of-course-from-my-site/ Now, once you get the hang of HTML, and want to try something more advanced, try PHP. Its a server-side script, so make sure your hosting server support PHP before designing a web with it. Its kinda like C programming (kinda)... so if you are familiar with the syntax and the rules of C, learning PHP would be easier. One great advantage of PHP is it's MySQL support. MySQL is a free Database Server. Very cool for form handling and ect... If you are new and want to tinker around with HTML, PHP and MYSQL, I'd recomend you installing your own server (just for tinkering around with it). I'm not very well-versed in installing a Linux server, but for Windows, I'd recomend you using Apache, PHP and MySQL. You can get them at: 1) Apache (HTML Server) 2) PHP (PHP Parser for HTML Servers) 3) MySQL (Database Server) 4) MySQL Gui (Gui Administration for MySQL) Read the instructions CAREFULLY as you install them, usually, the installation is quiet confusing especially when intergrating Apache with PHP, but there's your best friend, Google, around to help you with that. Oh yes, before I forget, there's a good program on the web called SwishMax. Its for making your very own flash animations to put on your site. It's not free, but I tell you, It's REALLY worth it. Swish site That's all for now. With all the information I've given, you should be able to create a good website. Drop me the URL when its ready yeah?
  8. Actually, some countries in the world are already recycling their water. Its not a big deal. As long as the scientists and researchers are happy with the quality, Its fine by me.Recycled water is not as filthy as we all think. 50% of the water consumed in some nations are recycled. This means that1) We are preserving the clean water for the young generations.2) We can make a good businees of making fertilizers out of the effluents.
  9. I just took a quick peek of your homepage. Here's my comment:1) Graphics:- You might want to reduce the size (in kB not res) of the pictures on the main page. Maybe cropping them to suit your need. I noticed that there was this black and white photo... try to save it as gif (using 64 colours of monotones is more than enough). -> Photoshop CS -> ctrl + alt + shift + S -> choose your preference; Should do the trick.2) Layout:- I like your layout. Simple and neat. The colour sheme is ok. You could choose a lighter shade for the text.I think thats all. From a web programmer's POV, good job!p/s Thanks for the simple viewer. Nice photos neways! Keep up the good work.
  10. I've setup and manged a RO server myself a few years back... so forgive me if the information I give may not be that accurate. Have you tried to install the server on other computers. Is the result the same? If it is the same, try redownloading the server files. The language of your login screen / gameplay depends on the Sakray patch you added. (in my time ) There was a few executables in the server root that you can try to play the game with... something like SakM.exe and others. And I have no Idea about the ninja thingi Try finding the config file for it (read the readme first). I cant quite remember the file name or whare it is located, but i do know that once you've found it you can do some darn stuff... e.g. - Setting the experience multiplyer so that your character can gain exp by 10 times or more! - Set the starting zeny (money) of the player (maybe 5,000,000z?) - other cool stuff. There is a config file named monster.txt or something like that where you can multiply the ammount of monsters roaming Ragnarok. p/s This might slow your computer down. As far as i know, 1) your computer must have a connection to the internet (an ADSL line would do). 2) Change the address of the server to YOUR EXTERNAL ip address (not the ones beginning with 192.168.... or 10.0....). 3) Be sure your firewall settings are set correctly. 4) If your behind a router that you dont control (like in a university or an office) you're screwed. Unless you know how to tunnel 5) If you have a dynamic IP try to register it under any free dns service, so you can use a URL instead of ur IP. 6) Make sure the Ragnarok configurations on your friend's computer are set. (like using your IP or url instead of 127.0.0.1). ----- disclaimer: Like I said before, its been a while since I've set up my own RO server. Please let me know if I made a mistake anywhere. TQ
  11. It is true that the prices will eventually fall. In the manufacturing industry, the higher the demand, the lower the prices will get. So hold on guys and gals, just be patient and wait out.I think BlueRay is becoming more and more needed considering computers nowadays are going way past gigabytes and just about going over terabytes. Its essential to have a high-capacity medium for your backups.
  12. I own a copy of The Movies. I'd give it a 3/5 (and i'm being generous). I've played it for weeks and after some time, the game starts to get routine... create a script, pick the actors, directors and crews, shoot the movie and show it. The graphics are cool... no doubt in that, and the game is kinda charming in one way or the other; But as I said, it can get routine for a while. The Movies was created by Lionhead studios. As you would expect from the creators of Dungeon Keeper, Fable and Black & White, the gameplay is great. Like Sondar said, the idea behind it is novel.
  13. Strike back? Maybe. But one thing is for sure: AMD + ATI = Kickass performance and graphics. Intel's performance is not what you would expect if compared to a few years back. For example the notorious heat problem with AMD chip is now solved, while Intel is now experiencing the problem.
  14. Me too, shouldn't be a problem really. Now i'm using Dreamweaver to edit the nuke-sites i'm developing, but sometimes, (when i need to make on-the-go adjustments away from my work station) I just use notepad. Yes it may be eye straining and confusing, but it works. Can you please elaborate on this matter psychiccyberfreak.
  15. PHP is embedded in HTML. HTML is sort of like a way you'd like to display the information at hand. Whilst PHP is responsible for the information itself. Of course its notihing like HTML, but they complement each other.
