That's pretty much the reason. We had learnt about oil prices in my Organisation Theory class, and from the research we did for about a month on the rising of oil prices, we had a clear idea that at this point there is no shortage of oil, but the shortage (or hoarding) of oil refinaries (spelling?). The shortage of oil is simple make-believe.

Svchost Is Normal Have More Of 1 In Process On Xp?
LParyani replied to gpinvest's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Not a problem. Also, regularly run TaskManager and check on the status of svchost.exe, specially if you're connected on a network or connected to the internet. It should not be using much on CPU usage. -
This link isn't working for me. When I click on this link, some sort of search portal opens up. Is it working for the rest?

I live in Dubai and the fuel prices here should be considerably low considering the fact that UAE is somewhat of an oil producing nation, although only 10% of the economy is dependent on oil. However, we used to pay approximately $1.6 per gallon, and now it's risen to $2.0 per gallon. I guess this is a great advantage because the oil prices have rocketed much greater in proportion in other parts of the world. But from what the economists are predicting, oil prices may rise slightly again after the war. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Harry Potter Roleplay Site suggestions, comments, all welcome
LParyani replied to PmH's topic in Websites and Web Designing
As mentioned, the red and green on the banner don't fit well. But, if you could incorporate the green in the rest of the template, then it would kind of 'fit into place' and not leave a sense of separation between the forum banner and the rest of it.Secondly, too many forums with not enough members makes it look more empty than always. I'm not sure if you could do this, but reduce the number of forums and keep only the ones that are crucial, and then as the members increase, you could gradually increase the number of forums. I think the locked forums are of no use and should'nt be visible if not removed for now, and when you need them, you could incorporate them as a part of the site. Now, I would only lock a forum if it already had posts in it and could be useful for a read, but because you don't have any posts you should probably hide it and re-open on the 1st of September (as mentioned) and let the members know through other methods (like announcements, etc.) -
I read in the newspaper the other day that a Canadian was trapped in Lebanon when he was there for a vacation, and after being informed about the whole situation, he called the Canadian embassy for help, but all they told him was to stay put as they're doing all they could to bring aid and are currently very low on resources.

First off, it would be helpfull to put up a little discription about the website, even though it's just an online community. Secondly, when I click the "Death Shadow" link (placed under the banner), I don't get directed anywhere because it's linked to LOCALHOST/, which means it's a broken link. Finally, I wouldn't insert a video on the forums page. It could turn out to be annoying later if not soon. I haven't got around the website/forum much, but will post up if something comes up. Good luck with it.

What's The Hottest Place You Have Been To?
LParyani replied to assassin9110's topic in General Discussion
Out of all the places I've travelled, I'd say that where I live now is the hottest place - Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In summers, the tempratures rocket to around 45C (and above) in the shade and during the night, it's around 37C, but feels 41C. To make it worse, the humidity level ranges around 75% throughout summer. It's very pleasent in the winter with minimal rain, but summers are when people rely completely on their air conditioners and when it breaks down, all hell breaks lose. -
That is very true. The only thing we can expect from the United Nations are their comments on war without much action behind it. Their fight against terrorism is nothing but a race for more and more power. In the midst of all this, we should'nt forget the tension between USA and Iran.

Do You Like Being Given Injections And Blood Tests?
LParyani replied to Blue Lightning's topic in Health & Fitness
I tried all I could to avoid taking the necessary injections back when I was in school. And so, I didn't have much experience with needles and to say the least, I was pretty scared of them. Not long ago, I had to get my blood drawn for legal reasons (of residency), and it practically freaked me out. I kept my cool and it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be. Yet, I voted No. -
Svchost Is Normal Have More Of 1 In Process On Xp?
LParyani replied to gpinvest's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I guess it is usual to have more than one svchost.exe processes running on your computer at the same time. But if one of these (or several) of these processes start hogging more and more of your memory, then I guess you'll have to worry. Otherwise, it's just fine. -
I've heard about Spy Sweeper, but isn't that only restricted to scanning spyware/adware and the like and not viruses? I'm not sure, but thanks for the information.

I'm not using any anti-virus at the moment and haven't been using one for the last two years. Fortunately enough, I have been bug free. But, from what my friends suggest, I hear that McAfee (Hotmail uses it) is a good anti-virus. But, wait for other members to post up their recommendations.

Well congratulations on your switch. From what I heard, they couldn't get a proper budget to put in research into this product and that's why they aren't able to catch up with their competitors.Around approximately 4 years back, my ISP would provide and recommend the use of Netscape, but cut back the use and aren't bothered anymore. I thought the company went extinct or changed companies or something like that.

Sing a Song by Carpenter? So are you saying that this song is performed by them and not you? Then, why post it in this section? I'm a bit confused here.

I quite have to agree with brainless. I've been living in the Middle of East since I was born (I'm not Arab though), and although where I live is not in any non-political ambush in this Middle East tension, the outcome can, to an extent be felt here. It is really sad to witness this. The thing that I cannot understand, however, is the ignorant attitude of the other Arab countries that are not directly involved in this situation. They don't have anything to say about this. This has been a part of newspapers and many debates, but they wish not to break their silence. All I pray for is the tension to cool down as there really is no outcome of war except a negetive one - for the people who don't even have anything to do with anything. And how many of you think that President Bush should really be quite about this and not support Israel by telling them that what they're doing is right?

Blogging Sites Going To Be Banned In India ?
LParyani replied to midnitesun's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Haha. Although, I guess this is going to be a temporary issue concerning the Mumbai blasts and how they've gone about increasing security in any possible way. They just want to reduce the chances as much as they can. I don't blame them, although they might upset a huge population using the website and even the content provider as this would be a huge setback on their revenues. Let's see where this heads. -
And would using FireFox solve anything? You say that hackers target Internet Explorer because more people use it. If more people shift to using FireFox, then won't the hackers target that then?

Blogging Sites Going To Be Banned In India ?
LParyani replied to midnitesun's topic in Websites and Web Designing
And even if they use the internet, it's highly unlikely that they might use blogging services to communicate with each other. Probably to secretly run a service, I'm not sure. And what good will blocking these websites in India do? I'm sure they can find a way around a proxy server without wasting much time. It's probably just a rumour or something. Where did you read about this? -
Ubuntu doesn't charge the orderer anything for shipping. As I've mentioned in my post, it's completely free. That's the whole point of the Ubuntu project. They hire the programmers and pay them, and then they distribute the CDs for no cost at all, unlike what we currently experience, that is the programmers are paid for, but each CD then producded also has to be paid for. Again, Ubuntu is absolutly free.

I played Cricket 2000 and Cricket 2002 for quite a while and was really excited to switch over to 2004, however, I haven't got the chance to play Cricket 2006, and haven't heard much of it either.I quite agree with you too, the gameplay had a major improvement in the 2004 version. In fact, I still find the game quite a bit exciting as I used when I started playing this game. I particularly liked how we could also manage the squad with ease, which wasn't a feature in the older versions of this game. But with games like FIFA around, this game didn't gain the popularity it deserved. None the less, a very nice game.

Nudity on TV exists because people want it to. They're basically filling out the demand by the majority population, and I think what the Australian channel is doing is pretty much trying to keep up with the demand ethically, if not anything else. Now, if I'm not mistaken, at the beginning of each movie, they even display a rating (PG, R, etc.), and try to make it the responsibilty of the parents and not them anymore, so I don't see any harm in showing material which might not be suitable for the little ones. What I'm trying to say is that in now way will the nudity on Television go down even if a minotry group of protestors try to pull it down, because in the end it's the majority that is taken care of. So, even if we might think it's wrong, I don't think there would be a possible solution to it.

This, and also try Ubuntu.com. I've tried, and they will ship you any number of CDs no matter where in the world you live. In fact, they will encourage you to order more CDs because they would have to pay for the shipping anyway and ordering more would reduce their average cost of shipping per CD.
