  1. Ehm sorry but i haven't understood what are u trying2say, what means: ???
  2. Well, i want to colaborate with this post so i expose lil thingz related to simple maths to be used in PHP: Operators are the common on most of programming languages, * for multiplying (3x2 = 3*2), + for sum (3+2 = 5), - for resting (3-2 = 1), / for division (3/2=1.5), and ^ for exponentials (3^2 = 9). So if you want to sum some stored variables (of a DB, or whatever you want/need ) you could do the next: <?$var1= '3'; // that could come from a form if you replace the '3' string with a $_GET[''] or $_POST['']$var2= '2'; // ... the same :Psettype($var1, 'integer'); // That makes a string into an integer, i.e. '5a' it will be converted into the number 5.settype($var2, 'integer'); // The same for the $var2/* You could ask why didnt i wrote "$var1=3;" instead of "$var1='3'", i did that cuz in the forms most of times is sent as a string, and the ppl could write 5a, 3v, c, so the settype makes the string to an integer (the integers dont have ' for delimitating) */$sum = $var1+$var2;echo $var1.' and '.$var2.' equals to '.$sum; // You'll have to get something like "3 and 2 equals to 5"?> It was a micro help, but from that, you could figure out to use -, *, / and ^ hehe.
  3. Well, i did something similar, but definately decided not to send to an email address, cuz it sometimes went to Spam folder, or strange things, my Feedback Form (wroted weeks ago) putted the output into an html file so you could read it wherever you want, if it's on a pub server. Here is the topic of my tutorial.
  4. Hi guyz, i had a big problem few dayz ago, cuz i have an old Compaq Proliant 3000, and i bought hdd and i wanted to install an OS (Windows 2000), so i nicely put the CD into the computer, and turned it on. Well, the approximate message i got was something like "You, idiot, where's the OS in the hdd?", and went to the BIOS cuz i thought it was a regular boot order problem; it wasn't. I went to the Compaq Support in HP, and the BIOS menu, and discovered that for installing the OS on that machine i had to boot the OS installation from floppys (lol), and that they should come with my w2k pack (they didn't ). 1.- So, assuming you have the original Windows 2000 but the diskettes didn't come with it, you could get them from Bootdisk.com. Just browse till you find the bootdisks of the OS you are looking for (not only W2K), and then download it. Deflate it, ect. 2.- After that, you'll need 4 brand new floppies (I tried with used ones, but didn't work, have to be exactly 1.44 MB), and the program you deflatted that came with another files (with w2k was makeboot.exe) will guide you for the creation of the floppies. So now you got the 4 diskettes, and the w2k CD: 3.- Ok all you need to do is starting the machine with the 1st floppy inside the PC (omg, i know you knew ) and the installation process will automatically require you to put all the other floppies. 4.- Then, the installation program will ask you to put the CD, and then you're done, you will have to be able for resume the installation from your CD. a ) The first thing you should do when it's installed, is doing Emergency Disks (I suppose you'll have to buy 10 diskettes, and dont think you're going to use them for anymore ). b ) Don't use the Bootdisk.com software if you don't own the Windows original installations hehe. Well, i hope that could help someone, cuz i was really confused when i didn't know what2do.
  5. Lol 1st one is cool, but i think you could make the background darker, so tintin and snowy will become brighter and more visible (like in the 2nd one), and if you did that with photoshop, you could try out some layer modes (Darken, Color, ect) with the text, sometimes it goes cooler .Also the tintin/snowy layer could have also Outer glow, but thinner than the shadow. One more thing lol, i think they have too much height as images for sig, but that's only my oppinion.
  6. Well... ehm it's a shame i know, but i bought a German Compaq Proliant 3000 in eBay cuz it was cheap, and i needed a webserver. Ok,i bought it, it arrived at home, and oh! first one, it had no hdd (in eBay that part was written in German). I contacted the vendor, and it returned the 10% of the price. Ok again, now i wanted to setup the BIOS, and i spent 1hour by pressing F1~12 three times each. I needed SmartStart CD for accessing the setup. I downloaded it and all the stuff, and what a surprise, i start the server with the CD inside, and it nicely says 'SmartStart wird geladen. Bitte warten Sie.' (it means 'SmartStart was loaded. Please wait') and lol, all the stuff inside is in German, and i'm exhausted, i'm goin2kill someone can anyone help me reinstalling that SmartStart for servers v5.5?I already have the CD, but i think im goin2need help installing win2k
  7. Lol Society says the truth, higher probably you'll hurt more friend A than B, and B... well, B would have to accept, but A hasnt. Rlly can u forget friend's sisters? well, if she was a top model, and your friend was not so friend, the sittuation may be different, but i assume he's a good friend, so if i was you, i was goin2forget her, and continue searchin
  8. If u ran out of invitations, dont close the topic, i'll send too (97/100). Ehm only 1 thing, if we 2 run out of invitations, could someone join that topic for givin invitations?
  9. Well, i dont understand how did he survived the first 30h, the most i've stayed in front of my lcd was 2 days ago, and was no more than 17h. I think the man died of the bad-quality food, or the bad-quality internet cafe gamez. Sure they had DeltaForce 1
  10. Well i used to watch it when i was young, and i still like it probably cuz i haven't seen it again. Sure that if i see it now, i won't say the same, but i have good memories of that time, so better dont broke that 'when-i-was-young' feeling .I said i was going to hate DBZ if i see it again cuz i did that with Fly (a really suckin manga), that i liked a lot when i was young, and i saw it again last xmas, and lost all the reputation that had to me , so if you liked something when you were young, dont risk now, dont see it again! :(DBZ rules
  11. Wtf??? Time to be afraid???Have you read the entire web? lol it doesnt seem to be a fake, if it isn't i'm going to close all the windows and doors of my house and wait with a crowbar like in HL and wait on my door to enter one of these things. I hope that they dont jump, if they do, the humans will be gone!Lol, now for real, i really hope that's a fake, but the web comes with press releases, ect. And is it legal? I mean, managing the DNA for doing 'that'?Have fear, humans, genpet have come...
  12. Ehm... have you visited the page again?it says something like:"This was a silly fake created for a Radio Television Film class. Please do not take it seriously.See the project description page."Lol i thought it was real when i read the post, and i started being afraid :(Well, not 2day, but some day the organics will rule over the machines (a simply brain will assign IPs inside a router??? lol BDHCP: Braincontrolled Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)I hope i will be dead when it happens, dont wanna work on a hardware enterprise that buys dog brains for developing .
  13. wow, really hard to believe that someone voted 'Whats HTML'.The world was done in pure HTML . Then we added all the other stuff. Is easier to talk in HTML than in English . I started with HTML about 5~4 yrs ago, when i was about 13yr old. And well, the starting was a lil hard, probably cuz i was a bit young for coding in notepad. But i did it, i did a bunch of pages in raw html coded in the simple notepad. I started to hate FrontPage, then i started to hate windows, and now i hate microsoft (that doesn't mean i dont use it ).But it's true, writing raw HTML in notepad is a waste of time, cuz if you know HTML and you need to write it in notepad, it's OK to do it, but havin' dreamweaver ect... Anyway, if you only have Dreamweaver, you're goin 2 write in raw the PHP... :)But studying HTML is a concept that i dont understand :S. It might be cuz i started learnin HTML when i started learnin English, but at home. So i cant say i have studied HTML, i would have to say, i learned HTML by myself (a lot of people does this, i know), and the same with some BASIC.Resuming: i only know HTML and PHP. i hope i learn some more before i reach the 24 yr old.
  14. Well, what's saying warezz0r is true, the bandwith will run out if there is some people listening to you at the same time. But if you have a big bandwith, you could try with the Shoutcast, what said tdm. Shoutcast is a plugin for Winamp 3 i think, and u can stream mp3, ogg i think, and more. I used it for a long time, and is really useful, only have to download your own server, and then connect from the plugin. But if you want to embed a player in your page, you could try Windows Media Encoder (i know, i know... microsoft isn't a good idea), and you're going to stream in wma, but could be embedded in a web easily. The difference between WME and SC is that the Mac users will have to download WMP for MacOSX if wanna listen to your radio, and if you use SC, the Mac users will be able of use iTunes for listening to it.
  15. Ehm... lol. Vista? well we could say that Microsoft expects a lot of sales of that 'special' OS... Probably, there will be a lot of sales of it, i know... but the people will know that the Searchs Feature has been stolen from MacOSX (10.4 Tiger has Spotlight, an ultrafast HDD search engine), and the transparencies... well are also in Linux and Mac, so what Microsoft thinks has discovered? :S Lol, and Microsoft talks of security? The most hacked/cracked/f***ed OS enterprise talks of security? Who was going to choose a Microsoft OS if was for an important application? i mean, Windows Vista will be safe for home people that only opens their email eventually, and does a lil of internet navigation, but is really safe to use it on an aerospacial projects? Will the next space shuttle be launched with it? omfg, i really don't hope so, dunno what was goin2happen... So i think that Microsoft has stolen enough money to the people, selling a "safe" OS, and patching it daily with Windows Updates... I have a Mac, and a Windows, and i assure that the Windows downloads every week 2 new patches from Windows Updates; and the Mac downloads 1 every 2 months, and from iTunes, Airport, ect, not Critical Updates like Windows. Microsoft ever sells 'nonended' OS, so if i have to pay for an OS, i would prefer Mac OS X; if want it free... no doubt, Linux. (and if wanted real security, UNIX)
  16. When you load a page, is nice to see what day it is, and the time of the moment of loading the page, but isn't nicer to see the time with custom imgs?, i.e. you could put a binary clock at the top of your web, ect. So, there's another php microtutorial that i hope it's going2help someone. First of All, you have to set in your mind clearly what kind of clock want to put in your web (always with numbers, digital), and then, you have to do in Photoshop or your chosen image editor, the images for the numbers. In example, if you want a classic digital clock that prints '12:34 am', you'll need to do images from the 0 to the 9, and the am/pm indicator. If you want a Internet Swatch Time clock that prints '@345' you'll need to do the numbers and the @ only, ect. For binary clocks, i recommend you to do from the 0 to the 111011 (with black/white dots representing 0/1), so you'll need to do 59 imgs. I recommend that cuz it's easier to embed on you want. If you only wanna do 2 images (black and white dot), we'll need to do some phpmaths that i'll explain further. We'll start for a simple clock, we assume that you have a root folder '/' and an images folder '/img/', so you have to create a page, in example we're going to name it clock.php (in the example, a 24h clock). <?$time1=date('H'); // Hours$time2=date('i'); // Minutessettype($time1,integer);settype($time2,integer);$h1=((int)($time1/10));$h2=($time1-($h1*10));$m1=((int)($time2/10));$m2=($time2-($m1*10));echo '<img src="img/"'.$h1.'.jpg">';echo '<img src="img/"'.$h2.'.jpg"> '; // Note that I have left a lil space separating the Hours from the Minutes.echo '<img src="img/"'.$m1.'.jpg">';echo '<img src="img/"'.$m2.'.jpg">';?>Remember you MUST place imgs from 0.jpg to 9.jpg. It could look nicer if your images are png with transparencies (only our loved firefox will be able to view it, but i think all we use it ), if you want to, only will have to change the .jpg extension by the .png (or whatever you want) on the php code. Another day I might do the binary clock, so tired 2day , but i may edit that same post, so remember visiting it again lol. Cya all!
  17. Well, i had the idea of logging the downloads from my web in a html file few weeks ago, and i solved it with a lil php page included in my homepage. You could name the links with a name like "download.php?file=filename.ext" and then, in the download.php put the next code: (well you put the html and head and body tags if u want, i only write the php here) <?if (isset($_GET['file'])) $file=$_GET['file']; //so it gets the GET data from url (file=filename.ext);$ip=$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDRESS'];$file=fopen('download_log.html','a');$date=date('d-m-y H:i:s');$text="<br><hr><p>".$file.", ".$ip." on date ".$date;fputs($file,$text); /* At that point, the download try is logged, so if he doesn't proceed the download, will be logged anyway *//* if you want to be secure and avoid the ppl downloading what they dont have to do, you could add every file name to a MySQL DB and add an ID, so you were only to need to put in your links the id like "download.php?id=257", but thats a bit long to explain, so i continue with the simple explanation */echo "You're going to download the file <b>".$file."</b>. If you want to proceed, click <a href='".$file"' target='_blank'><b>here</b></a>";?> Obviously you can improve that code much more, but that simple thing should work only by being at the same folder of the files to download.
  18. Lol er... well dunno if all servers let u using fsockopen(), cuz i actually use my own server, so i suppose it depends of the host. You could post a topic on a forum askin' 4 that. Anyway, yesterday i try to use on a free hosting server with PHP, and it gave me back an error like 'Due to security reasons...' (note: tried out in Xisto hosting and works)
  19. Yup, in my opinion, for being a portal-style site, the width of the side modules, and the overall width, exceeds too much. I would have done it with more lateral merges, and the modules of about 160px, dunno.Well, it's your website, you have the hard decision
  20. No no, only for that samsung and for another mobile from another brand, but, anyway, the games are versions specially made for that hardware, you couldn't install the typical Quake III Arena from the cd you were going to download the version for the mobile phone (anyway, not too hard to find, cuz it's GPL, so it's legal). You could try to look in ebay, but i dont think it's easy to find a mobile phone of that kind there, cuz is from Japan. You might find it imported on your country. Good luck!
  21. Well, that microtutorial explains how to set up a simple system of using a form data, and use it to do a decent contact sheet in webs that the user needs to tell the webmaster its impression of the web, or for reclamations, or whatever you can imagine. Only will be needed of 3 files: - 1 html/php file containing the form - 1 php file for processing the form data - 1 html/txt file for output Additionally, I recommend to give to the output file a hard to imagine name, cuz it's supposed you dont wanna let everybody to read it . Well, imagine your WebServer is at C:\Web\, well, you could embed the form and processing pages into your existing pages, but you also could name the formpage as form.php, the processing page as form2.php, and finally the output file as output_contact_form.html (I highly recommend to use html pages for output). OK, lets start, you have to do a form into the form.html page, and set the name of the fields, etc. i.e.: (3 fields is OK for contact sheets: Name, Mail, and the text, and is nice to include the client IP first if you're going to save it, if the page was PHP) <html> <body> <form method="post" action="form2.php"> <p>Your name<input type="text" name="name"></p> <p>Your e-mail<input type="text" name="mail"></p> <p>Text to send<input type="text" name="text"></p> <p>Logged IP: <? echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] ?> <p><input type="submit" value="Go!"></p> </form> </body></html> Then the processing page (it will write to the output file, without caring if all the fields were filled out, only will ste the blank field to "not filled") <html><body><?$file=fopen('output_contact_form.html','a'); /*'a' stands for read/write permission, moving the cursor to the last character, so it will look nice cuz it will look like a list of Reports */$ip=$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];$date=date('H:i:s m-d-Y'); // the date in PHP format, if you wanna include itif (!$_POST['name']) { $name='not filled';}else{ $name=$_POST['name'];}if (!$_POST['mail']) {$mail='not filled';}else{$mail=$_POST['mail'];}if (!$_POST['text']) {$text='not filled';}else{$text=$_POST['text'];}// under this lines, you can set the format for the output, i'll put a lil example$text_to_output='<br><font size="3" face="Verdana, Arial" color="#000000"><hr><br><p><b>'.$name.'</b> <font size="2">('.$mail.', '.$ip.', '.$date.')</p><p>'.$text.'<br><br>';// then, we put it into the file...fputs($file,$text_to_output);// ...and echo a Sent Msgecho '<br><p align="left">Message Sent.</p>';?> That should work , only look at the output_contact_form.html
  22. Well, dunno if was previously at the forum, but i didnt see it . Never have thought how cool had to be playing Quake III with your mp? Really you dont??? Well anyway, with the new mobile phones with that GPU, Quake III Arena GPL is supported! lol, that sounds hard 3D for a mobile device as a Samsung P-910, doesnt it? And 3D is not all what the nVidia GoForce 5500 GPU offers, it gives to the mobile phone a very smooth video playback, and the best of all: supports digital video broadcasting (yup, DVB-H), so you can have at your hand a device with real 3D graphics, DVD-Quality video playback, DVB, and of course, an improved surrond sound. For more info of the GoForce go to nVidia through here: http://www.nvidia.com/page/goforce_5500.html
  23. Some days ago, i needed to check ports of a server from a webpage, for advising of its status. I simply used a great php code that's fsockopen. I'll explain it in the following example: (Imagine a file called 'checkports.php', containing the next) <?$address =" Xisto.com"; //Here you can specify the address you want to check ports$port = "80"; //Here you can specify the port you want to check from $address$checkport = fsockopen($address, $port, $errnum, $errstr, 2); //The 2 is the time of ping in secs//Here down you can put what to do when the port is closedif(!$checkport){ echo "The port ".$port." from ".$address." seems to be closed."; //Only will echo that msg}else{//And here, what you want to do when the port is open echo "The port ".$port." from ".$address." seems to be open."; //The msg echoed if port is open}?> Well, that's all, but you can do with it a lot of interesting stuff, i.e., you put that on a host with PHP, and check if another host is up, and it is, redirect to... etc. Enjoy!
