Your Hobby What do you do outside the Trap for fun and excitment?
squeaky replied to jlhaslip's topic in General Discussion
I enjoy fishing, RC cars, working with the computer, fixing things, and building too. Probably my biggest influence for all of my hobbies would be my dad because he's really my role model and I enjoy learning lots from him. I hope that when I grow up to have a family or something, I can do the same, and have my child enjoy the same. -
A resistor is an electronic component that reduces electrical current between two terminals because of Ohm?s law. The term resistance occurs when an object blocks the flow of electricity, thus reducing voltage. Many household appliances produce resistance such as the light bulb because of the filament in the bulb. Resistors are objects that specify in resistance to reduce currents for small electronics. A German physicist, Geog Ohm, was a professor at the college at Cologne in 1817 and in the polytechnic school of Nuremberg in 1833, and in 1852 became professor of experimental physics in the university of Munich, where he later died. He experimented with different types of wires and found that they had different measurements in voltage. He then measured the current with a voltmeter and discovered a measurement in resistance. He then created the symbol (Ω) to show how much resistance an object has on a circuit. Ohm found that the resistance for most conductors does not depend on the voltage across them. A conductor or any other device that has a constant resistance regardless of the voltage is said to obey Ohm?s Law. There are different types of circuits that create resistance parallel circuits and series circuits. In parallel circuits, they are used in branching off other circuits, making the two circuits one big one. The series circuits are used to connect several light bulbs, but decreasing their brightness; if one light bulb burns out the current will keep on flowing, lighting the other light bulbs in the process. Electrical circuits are a complete path through which electric charges can flow. All electrical devices, from computers to radios to televisions, contain resistors to keep resist certain amounts of voltage for each component of the device. Resistors can be thought up as a freeway, which has been interrupted from an accident on the road; the flow of traffic would be decreased. In the process of using resistors, they create heat and require different sizes for different voltages. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Copied from bits and pieces. Warning.

Proclaimed atheists have always suffered from discrimination, social stigma, persecution and many other grave biases throughout many centuries. As you can see, atheism is not just a NEW social bias. Although the social stigma displayed by today's society is undoubtedly very minor compared to the past, it is still quite prominent. (Ancient Greek philosopher Socrates was at one point sentenced to death as he had denied the existence of the Gods'.) In the past, succumbing to the practice of atheism is as serious as committing a crime; whereas today, atheists are viewed as a part of a group of social outcasts. Believe it or not, they are thought to be below such social minorities as Muslims, immigrants, and homosexuals in terms of America's vision of society. According to a recent study held by the University of Minnesota, the survey accounted atheists as the least trusted group of people. In fact, most Americans have negative attitudes toward atheists. Such words that spring to mind in the average American include: "narrow-minded", "Leftists", "Progressives", "shallow", and "Communists". When it comes to politics, half of the population will not vote for an atheist and despise him/her as a whole even though they are more than qualified for the position. In a way, the U.S. constitution and bill of rights have contradicted an imprinted statement. The First Amendment states that an individual has a right to free speech, but if this was to be said by the United States of America, they should have a neutral standing. But as seen in the "pledge of allegiance", on our currency, and many other important elements of U.S. culture, the reference to God is quite apparent. (Phrases such as "In God we Trust", or "Under God".) As a whole, being an atheist or a religious individual should not stir up such tension. As modeled in the U.S. Amendments; each to their own.-Inspired source: Morgan Spurlock's "30 Days".(Squeaky & ghaskleAL)

I was wondering if I could use .asp pages on Xisto, because I am currently looking for a login script and all from my video pages. I've seen a script using .asp, but when I uploaded it and pointed my browser to it, it showed a download box. Would anyone happen to know of a place I can find a free login script? I've tried puma, and its great, but when iIview a protected page, I have to go to the main login page first, then i'm allowed to view the protected page. I don't want to have to login every single page I protect, and I want two access levels, of protected pages, like in puma, user and super user.

In Florida, where they passed a law to charge juvenile as adults if they have committed an act of rape, manslaughter, or anything in the category of violent crimes. When Florida decided to pass the law on January 23rd, 2006, the rate of violent crimes by juveniles fell an all high low of 20% as stated by John E. ?Jebb? Bush, governor of Florida. When other states followed the example of Florida, the crime rate of the country will drop drastically and without the worry of our malevolent young juveniles. Placing juveniles in adult prisons will not only deter crimes, but also save our country a vast amount of money. As a matter of fact, most crimes committed in the country are committed by juvenile delinquents such as graffiti, arson, thefts, etc. All of which are eating away our tax dollars, which could very well be used to better effect. Back to the topic at hand, the money that can be saved by sending juveniles to adult prisons will help our fight against terrorism and other grave matters. So when juveniles that have been charged with violent crimes are trialed and punished as adults, the result will not only be crime deterrence but also more money for the economy. Juvenile facilities and the court system do not work to deter crime, but instead attempts to only change juvenile delinquent behavior, the juvenile facility states ?Our main goal is to rehabilitate any juvenile that enters our facility and urges them to help the economy.? As mentioned above in their statement, juvenile facilities can only try to change and rehabilitate a convicted felon and take them away from a life of crime. Sadly, this sounds too much like a bad movie. Unfortunately, juveniles who have committed violent crimes as a gang will use their criminal records as ?brag sheets? to boast to their gang members about all their criminal achievements. This only further proves that juvenile facilities do not work and juveniles should be tried and punished as adults so that they can learn from their actions. Also, when the juveniles are let out of adult prisons, they will have a criminal record that follows them around to remind them not to commit the crime a second time or else they will face the same or harsher punishment . All of which was stated earlier only further proves the fact that juvenile facilities do not provide the proper punishment that is needed. When an adult is charged with a violent crime such as murder, he/she will be punished with jail time of 5 to 10 years, but it is unfair when a juvenile who committed the same crime will only be punished with rehabilitation, it does not make sense when two people who committed the same crime be punished differently just because of their age. When a juvenile is given the knowledge that no matter what they do they will not be punished harshly, it is most likely that they will commit more and more crimes. When a juvenile that commits crimes and if they are not punished as an adult, there is no way that they will learn their lesson, so well you punish a juvenile like an adult because of their crime it will show more juveniles that they cannot commit violent crimes in the future because they will be punished to the full extent of the law. Juveniles that commit crimes like an adult should be punished as an adult, so that they know that they cannot do anything they want because of the lack of punishment. In doing that the result will be a safer society. EDIT: This was not copyrighted from any sources, thus left without quotes. Coke_mentos_explosive coke and mentos have a highly explosive reaction
squeaky replied to Abhay's topic in General Discussion
Yeah thats really something, actually amazing. The discovery channel once had a episode on Mythbusters that had did the same experiment with the mentos in coke and discovered that the dimples on the mentos create a nice way for the carbonation to be caught or something. They tried it without the dimples and it didn't react explosively. I myself have even tried to come any where near this experiment because of the waste of soda, but is something I really want to try. Something even more cool you may not of seen are http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Check it out, see what you think, its something I would of never thought of doing. -

One For Laughs and one to think about
squeaky replied to AlternativeNick's topic in Science and Technology
Ha! It seems like you have a engineer side of you that thinks of new ideas and are better for us. The idea of buttered toast landing on butter side down sounds like one episode of MythBusters on discovery channel. It seems like something to really think about. But for the cat, do they actually land on their feet? I wouldn't want to harm the little kitty and be caught by the animal humane people for cruelity to animals. Also, you idea of the cup holding-self inflatting contraption is very creative, but I would think it would be too much of a hassle to account for. There would be high cost inolved if brought on to market and proved unsuccessful and problems would probably occur. Although there are problems, I do like the idea and it seems like something worth testing out! Maybe some modifications would be gel surrounded cup holders that would stretch and accommodate many cup sizes? Or the simple adjustible ring ability that is already been thought of. -
Splinter Cell Series Vs. Metal Gear Solid Series Opinions?
squeaky posted a topic in Computer Gaming
As a fan of both series, I wanted to get a take on your opinions. In my opinion, I favor Splinter Cell over Metal Gear. Although Metal Gear came out way before Splinter Cell, and may have undoubtedly influenced Splinter Cell in one way or another, SC's game mechanics appeals to me more. Some may argue Splinter Cell is a bit slow and boring, but that's what I like about the game. The thought of sneaking behind guards, utilizing sweet gadgets, pulling off impressive maneuvers, becoming the shadow itself, ultimately draws me in over Metal Gear. Don't get me wrong though, Metal Gear has its advantages over Splinter Cell.(i.e. Better environments which include numerously more alternate pathways, more interesting storyline, innovative boss fights, variety of weapons, and a little something new with the addition of every new title in the series). Splinter Cell seems to appeal to a specific crowd; you either love it or hate it, where Metal Gear leans more to both sides. As a stealth game, I prefer Splinter Cell, but as an action game, Metal Gear all the way. So in this case, I guess I like my action games a bit more stealthy and subtle. -
1. Splinter Cell series *Probably the most well-crafted stealth-action game I've ever experienced. Have played through all three releases, and even though I've pretty much grown out of video games, I am undoubtedly getting "Double Agent" when it comes out. 2. Metal Gear Solid series *Another ingenious stealth-action series, though the gameplay does not seem as appealing as Splinter Cell (in my opinion), it is still very innovative and the narrative is always interesting and a lot more moving than Splinter Cell's. 3. Tekken series *Personally, I think it has the slickest, sickest, and most innovative fight engine out of any other fighters I've played. This remains to be all opinion, but the combos and maneuvers included just adds to the replayability. Character bios and storylines are also quite interesting compared to others. 4. Tony Hawk series *The Cadillac of all skateboard games, and probably the only recognizable skateboard game out there. The gameplay is just genius, enough said. This game takes skill, commitment, and style; it's not just a game, it's a sport in itself. 5. Crash Bandicoot *One of the first games that I've ever played. This game has appeal, gameplay, and sick replayability. It's sequels are awesome too (Crash Bandicoot 2 and Warped, with the addition of Cart Racing). Still remains my favorite platformer of all time.

Worst Game Of All Time wats the baddest game of all time
squeaky replied to chief91's topic in Computer Gaming
Personally, the greatest disappoint I had come across was the PS2 title "Rise to Honor." Although this happened before I had discovered professional reviews, I had high hopes for this game since the thought of controlling Jet Li seemed to be a slick experience. But on the day I popped in the disc, I discovered you never really got to try out his simulated moves. All you had to do was swing and toggle the analog stick in random directions to cheaply pull off his maneuvers, which gets a bit repetitive and redundant as you continue on with the dopey narrative. What I'm saying is it would have been better, much better if crafted in the right hands. It may not be the worst I've played, but the disappointment factor really gives into my negative response a lot more than it should. But I really shouldn't complain, since I have not the skill to construct a game or do any better. It is just an opinion. -
The Big Weightlifting Topic Get big, Get ripped, LIFT

T-nation seems to be an interesting site. I'll probably refer to it or read up on some stuff for information since I'm looking forward to changing my performance over the course of the summer. The article on recovery and effective nutritional ingestion may be helpful for me personally. Just for the record, if you don't mind, do you happen to know any information on improving upon endurance in strength or aerobic exercises (such as running). I am currently in high school and training for cross country over the summer, so it would be quite helpful if you would offer any advice in improving my performance/ endurance. The link to the site and your offered information is very much appreciated. -
My favorite cartoons I would spend endless hours of time watching as a kid would be Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry. Although there are many other cartoons I watch that are just as good, the most memorable and most watched would probably be Tom and Jerry. As of now, I don't watch any of them anymore because their either not on when I'm home from school, homework to do, social life, or they are too simple for me.

There is a programs you can use called Adobe Premiere. I have Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and it works beautifully! It's has much more functions then the presets of Windows Movie Maker. In Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 you may customize your videos to your needs. Although Movie Maker is a good start, moving to Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 is something you should try. It may seem like the controls and buttons on Premiere Pro 1.5 are confusing, but as you get used to it, it's very useful and you'll be very happy. Some nice features are: 1. Able to export as gifs, quicktime, bitmap, filmstrip, targa, TIFF, Microsoft AVI, Microsoft DV AVI, and Windows waveform. Also, you have the ability to export to a DVD 2. Nice after effects. 3. Multiple tracks (audio and video slots) Possible Problems: 1. Big files while exporting. You can get a trial version of the newest Abobe Premiere Pro 2.0 here. If you have any further questions about Adobe Premiere Pro, PM me for any other questions.

YES! I would always of wanted one of those because most of our dreams have things we really want to go back to and see again, but later on the dream is lost in your mind. If they ever get one of these, I bet there will be lots of problems and risk that you would have to go through, and I wouldn't want to go through them. Cost if an important problems that would not be possible for probably me or others. I remember thinking about a way to record our dreams, it's nice to hear someone has the idea too!

Yes, there are many virus's spread through online chating and people everyday that are interested about the link send. You should never open them unless you are absolutely sure that it's safe. Some ways I fiqure out if its safe is leaving my cursor on the link and seeing the real link. Another precaution if you click the link, is to check what kind of file it is. If it's a unknown file, don't click on it! Everytime I see virus's on AIM, the are MS-dos programs that would harm your computer. "********** (5:31:14 PM): just setup my new myspace [url="https://myspace.com/browser and "********** (9:26:07 PM): they're talking about us on myspace [url="https://myspace.com/browser that has links within them going to the download of the virus was the most clever, because lots of people use myspace. So yeah, everyone should check your links before you click on them!

squeaky replied to LocalSeer's topic in Dating And Relationships
I totally agree with the eye contact because I remember searching the web and I stumbled into a suggestion for teenagers how to flirt. It was pretty awkward at first, but it seems to work really well. Also, I am a shy guy around others and girls so often look to the ground and avoid eye contact, but now it's easier now that I started to look into other's eyes. Well, it seems like your stategy of overcoming your shyness and I hope your just comfertable with your new self. Out of curiousity, is this girl your talking about special to you in some way? Don't be shy keep in touch -
The DOT has adopted a broad range of duties since it was created in 1966. Perhaps most significantly, the DOT has raised public awareness of transportation safety. It has encouraged seat belt use, cautioned against dunk or drugged driving, and designed safe boating and air traffic regulation. In other areas, it has funded construction for thousands of miles of highway, improved the beauty and safety of the nation's roads, and recalled defective cars. It has salvaged deteriorating railroads and addressed numerous problems concerning urban mass transportation.Despite the DOT's accomplishments, many problems still plague America's transportation systems. For example, the nation still depends on foreign oil to fuel its motor vehicles. In the 1970's, the department set a uniform maximum speed limit of 55 iles perhours and advocated the se of commuter carpools to conserve fuel and thereby to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. When the world's oil prices and supplies stabilized in the late 1980's, the public demanded higher speed limits, and Congress passed legislation permitting traffic to travel at 65 miles per hour on some of the country's highways. Nevertheless, the DOT continues to explore alternative ways to fuel motor vehicles in case the nation faces another oil shortage in the future.Economic problem will continue to concern the DOT. Developing and improving transportation systems requires billions of dollars in funding. But as Congress tries to trim the huge federal deficit, the DOT will complete with other government agencies for available funds. Anticipating such problem, the DOT has tried to cut internal cost; its 1987 budget request was nearly $8 billon less than its appropriation.Advances in transportation will also challenge the department. New forms of transportation are sure to replace odder methods, just as railroads replaced canal boat in the 19th century. These new transportation system with create new problem. Space travel, for example, could become relatively common in the 21st century. The department may be expected to regulate such travel and to coordinate its efforts with other nations. In addition, technological advances will affect the DOT's future. Some analysts perdict that improvements in telecommunications such as videoetext (communication technology that allows people to see an image as well as hear a voice over the telephone lines)-will reduce the need for travel, particularly business travel. Finally, American attitudes and public opinion will certainly play a role in deciding the course of the department's future.the public determines the popularity of different forms of transportation. It also makes clear what types of regulation are necessary and when they should be implemented. In 1986, a DOT survey revealed that most Americans dislike excessive regulation and prefer innovative programs, such as fuel-efficient automobiles, to mandatory solution, such as gas rationing. The department's future programs will need to respond to these attitudes. The DOT has assumed hundreds of different jobs while regulating the quality and growth of national transportation. It researches the viability of future transportation methods, while examining the continued efficiency of existing systems. The department also attends to specific goals of the president and congress, while heeding public opinion. It sets safety and environmental standards, while debating the merits of greater speed and convenience in transportation systems. These factors will help shape the DOT's future efforts and programs. Technological innovations, economic demands, and public preferences will determine how the nation uses its transportation systems. These systems will continue to develop as they always have-in response to the nation's changing needs
