  1. Is is one of those posts that doesn't even qualify as which-is-better-or-not type of thing. Those two things are far different from each other. Maybe Imageready and Fireworks, then its a good discussion. We all know that Photoshop is far superior from other commercial image editing tool.
  2. Is that animation on a movie clip or just in the stage? If its a movieclip, name it and you can point your target to it. Likenamedclip.play()
  3. What do you have inside your 3 1gig emails?I haven't deleted anything on my Yahoo account ever since they upgraded to 100 and emails are ate only 23% of my space? There is a real fine line between "file storage" and "email".
  4. Yes, that is flash and masking. Some tutorials that woul help on making this is a google search on sliding menu. Just make the behavior of it "on mouseover".I'll contradict Round a bit on that suggestion. Flashkit.com indeed has alot of tutorials, but unlike on Kirupa.com, tutorials are araanged on levels: noob, intermediate and advanced. If you can try and learn everything on their tutorial section, you can really do alot!Any free software that can edit flash? None. There are trials but sometimes when they are published, they mess up everything you made. Buying Flash is a pretty darn good investment.I suggest you get the real thing.
  5. Try GIMP. I heard thats free. I think. One advice is to do one thing at a time. For example you want to do scan lines. Search a tutorial in it and absorb it well. When youthink you did a good job in it, then decide what your next target would be.I learned Photoshop and Flash that way. Its really easy and you learn what you really want. The choice is all yours.Good luck!
  6. Don't buy MX 2004, not friendly for beginners. I was so disappointed when they removed the Standard more on actionscript tab. I suggest you get the earlier version, the MX series. But if you want it cheaper, get SwishMax. I read thay are brewing up another version of it and it have almost the same power as what Macromedia Flash has to offer.
  7. Yes, the latest version sucks alot. I waited for it to upgrade and when I tested it with my videos, the display was all grainy and bad. Audio playback is great and the skinning is improved but I clicked that rollback as soon as I found out its bad.I use Winamp on mp3s and WMP on videos.
  8. Im not that advanced on Flash but I think what you want to do is impossible.Insert buttons on a Textbox? The hint was there, "text''box.Maybe you should just use movieclips and scroll them with anything or anyway you are comfortable with. Quite hard to picture it. Do know any sites that you had the idea from? A sample maybe?
  9. As a newbie here on Xisto, the forum has way too many redundant topics. I'd like to post here what I think but I posted it already on a different topic. This one that thing called spawning breed for spam.
  10. What do you mean you mean they didn't explained the idea?Did you even read the whole tutorial? It was there. And I think that is an easy code to paste. I know some other sites that can help you with this but I suppose it would confuse you more. There are components and extensions for this, just Google it.Maybe you can email me and I can send you what I used for my site.
  11. Their components on their site is a bit old. Go to the Macromedia website instead and do a search on their components and extensions section on what you want to get. Some of their stuff are not free but the free ones are definitely good!Do you think they would put it on the official site if its bad? :)But its better not to use those things, hard code or if you can't, Google it.
  12. The Best? For now, its Firefox. I really dig the tabbed browsing when I first got Firefox. Then I found out about the Avant Browser, also tabbed with some image and flash blocks. Those features are really nice considering that I am a dialup user. As a webdesigner (err), Firefox made me go gaga over that one little thing called Cross-browser compatibility. You know those instances hen it looks perfect on IE and when its loaded on FF it is really bad? LOL I had to do some reading those days.Anyway, I prefer FF because of its live feed bookmarks and their extensions, especially the web developer extension. Though it loads pages a bit slower than IE, FF is still the best!
  13. I was using ZoneAlarm before, but when Trend Micro came up with the Internet Security so many years ago, I used their firewall instead. Function-wise, I like ZoneAlarm better, I can really see whats going in and whats going out, but it ate alot of my resources. Im an avid user of PC-Cillin for years now, when I was infected with the Redlof.a (or something like that) I tried Norton and McAffe but only PC-Cillin cleared it. And less memory usage also, not like that Dreadful Norton.
