  1. No doubt then about the s*@t I have been through. I have had a radius of 35 miles, which doesn't sound like much, but it IS! They dispatch installers by the way "A bird flies". It wasn't a great experience for me, other than the fact that I met some truly amazing people, who just wanted a little TV. I always enjoyed someone who wanted to give me something for my work just to get thier s*$t on. I always appreciated that "offer" of a Bud Light from someone who "Just want's to watch a little T.V.!" I'm sure YOU truly understand... BTW.. You joined this forum on my birthday! Cool!
  2. How do people post like this and stay active?!? You need to be more specific in your answers to people that are not as tech savvy as yourself. The jumpers that are being talked about are on the back of your hard drive, and normally there are three settings. The first is Master, the second is as Slave, and the third is as a (CS) Cable select, which means whichever cable is physically tied to that drive(By means of a physical turn of the cable.) And also, there are normally two interfaces for your drives, which are refered to as "IDE" or "EIDE" connectors. You have a primary (1), and a secondary (2), controller, normally found on your motherboard. If you set a jumper as a "Master" on your IDE "Primary", #1 controller, you would have to set up your secondary hard drive or CD-Rom as a "Secondary" on the same "Primary" line. Hope you understand what I am trying to teach you! If you need help, I would gladly asssist you! Notice from BuffaloHELP: Be respectful towards others with posting and watch your tone and language.
  3. This is probably off topic, but I use PCDJ to chop and mix my music. It's a great program, and I am not trying to push an affiliate link on ya'! I really like this software. Take a look on Google for more information on "PCDJ"!
  4. It has to be in the public_html folder, and the filename should be "Index.html". Works for me!
  5. An installer should never judge you. YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER! I was an installer for Directv at one time and I GREATLY apperciated my customers, who in reality, were not MY customers, but a result of me earning a living from folks who just want a little "Hassle Free" T.V.! I have Comcast myself, and have great download speeds, so I can't Bi*%h. Ya' know what I mean? But I do understand your side on this argument whole heartedly!
  6. The DSL Modem/Router I hooked up today is compatible with ALL protocols of wireless adapters. I don't think it would ever be a problem to have a router slow down to match the protocol of a slower NIC card. I have ran multiple wireless cards, etc. and the slowest one I have ever seen is a 10M, instead of the 100. Oh well!
  7. I HAVE TO SAY AGAIN!! Everyone thinks electricity has to be transmitted through the AIR! What about the Earth, It's core and it's mantle? Both have different electrical potential. You need to do more research about this subject before we say it is not feasable!
  8. Anybody want a GOOD Samsung E700 cheap? Just kidding. LOL. It's not a good Idea to use the words "sell" and "problems" in the same sentance, so I had to rib ya'. But it's all in good fun.
  9. My XBOX here at home ties in fine with every router I ever hooked it up to. The XBOX does not have a wireless receiver in it so it doesn't matter if the router has wireless or not. But make sure you get a router and not an old HUB because the hub will only allow you to connect two or more XBOX's together WITHOUT a net connection, and only around your house. (And you will need certain cables to do this. Either crossover or straight thru ethernet cables.) But you should be fine.
  10. Sounds like a software or driver problem to me. And BTW, if you have to disable the onboard VGA to install another card, you will know because you usually won't have video on the new cards' output. I would suggest running DXdiag from the run command on your start menu. To do this go to start menu> run> then type in dxdiag. This will run diagnostics on your DirectX installation.Keep us up to date when you work this out and good luck!
  11. If you are feeling particularly brave today, you can do what I used to do and pop it in and see if your system recognizes it. At worst, who knows. I just had a machine that wouldn't boot and beeped POST messages at me. I usually just try to match the type of ram that's already on the mother board. And by that I mean if you already have for example, a PC133 stick of RAM, I would try to make sure the next stick is of the same type (PC133,PC100,DDR,etc.) and not necessarily the same size.(MB)
  12. Sounds like either one of two things has happened. First, was the NIC a PCMCIA card that went bad causing your origional PC to mess up? And two, are there any driver conflicts? I would open up SYSTEM under the CONTROL PANEL and look under HARDWARE / DEVICE MANAGER and look for any exclamation point symbols ( ! in yellow). If you see any, there is a conflict or problem with that a device in your system. If that doesn't solve the problem, I would update ALL drivers. (Even if it is new, it may have been on a shelf a while.) Hope this helps you in some way. Best of luck.
  13. Yes, and you probably should not do that. Modifying your wireless card IS LIKELY to give you many problems. One of the first problems you are going to run into will probably be impedence mismatches from your solder joints and definately mismatches if you change the antenna. Placing your antenna outdoors will not necessarily be any better than having it indoors. The only reason to have an outdoor wireless antenna, in my opinion, would be to service an are that is not within a normal wireless range. (From your living room to bedroom for example.) Sounds like you might need an industrial wireless solution. Check out http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ for an idea of what I am talking about. Good luck!
  14. Actually Dooga, they somehow have found out my name and put it in one of my fake verification pages someone sent me. But I guess that isn't to hard to spoof some of these things being as your e-mail address is your Paypal ID. Hmmmm.. How convienent. Is it possible to find out much about me with just my e-mail address? I would like to know.
  15. True, I don't think they are either (My modem is still on and connected anyhow). But if you are serving videos, etc. you can almost bet they are going to get itchy with your modem shut-off switch. Your idea of running a local server for in house serving would be the better idea.
