Humm, how friendly are you, are you like best friends or is it just you talk to each other a lot and stuff like that? The reason being that if youre like best friends then it complicates things a little, if youre not best friends but are friendly then you might consider having a slow dance with her and a kiss at the end and then after the dance/party you can tell her that you really enjoyed the night, and then say something like shes a good kisser and tell her how you feel about her and see her reaction. If its good then either ask her out for a date in a few days or wait a few days then ask her out on a date. I think it would be better to ask her on a date rather than asking her to be your girlfriend because if she says yes then you know she likes you and its less corny and by the time you finish your second date it will be almost assumed that youre together so if/when you do ask her to be your girlfriend it should be a yes. Bare in mind ive been single for a few years now though My advice might not be the best!!Good luck

Well i have no experience of email systems but ive used a server application on my local machine for PHP and it came with a mail server so what im assuming is you'd need a normal web server with PHP/asp/cgi support and with email support not sure of which protocols but id guess SMTP and POP and im sure there's another but i cant recall it. Then youd need some sort of cgi/asp/php script to connect to the POP side of the email server, i think, and log in with the user's details and then display their mail using HTML formatting and such. And to send you'd need a form in HTML connected via php/asp/cgi to the email server which will send the mail via SMTP, i think.I know its vague but hopefully its a start. If you just wanted to have an email address like "ma@mywebsite.com" many hosts offer it such as Xisto.com and t17.net and Xisto - Web Hosting and many others and all it does is when an email is sent t the "me@mywebsite.com" address it just gets forwarded to your regular address for you to read and reply.

Actually by my definition of a real man you would be one. I believe a male is one who has the male anatomy but a man is the following: He will stand up for what he believes in he will stand up for WHO he believes in, be that wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/pet cat He will take a strike for those he loves. When knocked down he will rise again stronger than before and smash his enemy to pieces, of course this can be metaphorical or literal. He must believe in himself He wont start an argument/fight etc he will end it. He will only fight for something he truly believes in. and the one at which the quoted poster seems to lack: he must accept others for who they are most of them kind of stem to how a man would be in the age of castles and such and also the moral things i think a man can have. Any animal can be a male provided it has the right anatomy but only some humans can be a true man. Well there you go...for the record i mean no offence to the quoted posted but i believe their comment was quite offensive to anyone who is homosexual or bisexual.

Yeh the snow is pretty much gone now, there was a little rain earlier so it melted a lot of it leaving only a small covering, oh well, until next year i suppose! the weird thing is my mum was more excited then me, that was untill i went out in it! i was like a little kid! but at least i wasn't the only one! the roads will be bad though with all the left over snow and melt-water, and my friend is hoping to fly tomorrow morning, that could be interesting travel to the airport and hoping the runways aren't icy.
-
oo you guys had more snow than me its starting to melt now, just got in from a few hours in the snow, great fun but my fingers burn! and my feet got soaked! and its ging to rain soon methinks so say godbye to the snow! we might not even get any next year, its been getting less over the last couple years.just hate the evil little kids who have to thrw snowballs at cars, grr... @sylenzednuke damn thats a kinda weird country, what country is it? as much as everyone moans abut english weather i like it because its sort of like your country except in one area you get all of them, hot cold and mostly wet! and of course snow!!For some reason the snow makes me want to go camping in a tent...odd!
-
Hey everyone, if you live in the UK you'll be well aware of the snow the southern areas are getting and id like to say something abut the snow...YAY! I live near London and so far we've got about an inch and the snow is set to fall untill abut 11am so there should be plenty for snowballing! There are 3 or four airports closed, if only temporary until the runways are cleared, i believe Heathrow, Gatwick and louton are affected so check if you plan on flying! The trains are also in trouble, i would imagine the underground sections in London are ok but probably delayed and there are some lines closed or with severe delays so check that too! My college is closed for the day and there are a few schools shut too. I live on a semi-main road and the traffic isnt too bad though it isn't a major road, more of a residential-main road if that makes sense! Also there's a weather warning because of the snow so dont travel unless you need to! Either way in the chaos everything looks sooooooo nice! If you want more info on the weather check out the BBC weather center i do find it sort of silly though that a little bit of snow and the country grinds to a halt, but im not complaining! but for anyone who is complaining the snow should be erased by the rain this afternoon but of course thats not so good because tonight its likely to freeze so watch out if you are travelling! Happy days for mankind! Feel free to reply with pics youve taken! i think ill put some of mine up, they're not very interesting though, only house roofs!

Sounds interesting, from what i read on that link you gave it sounds like an attempted denial of service through bottlenecking and overloading the machines with too much data to handle. Ive always thought that if i was a hacker, a very good hacker, to cause a lot of damage i could do a denial of service attack on the DNS systems and bring the internet back to the stneage of typing in IP addresses. Its a promising sign though that the internet can cope with such attacks, im just waiting for america to claim it was an incitement to war or something...

In theory the foil might actually deflect or dissipate the interference but n the other hand it might not! As i believe it STP uses a coper shield which is earthed somewhere, i assume into the PC case or something so perhaps if the cables were wrapped in the foil and then earthed maybe by attaching a piece of wire and then attaching that to a table leg or a water pipe (i think that would be safe as the interference currents the foil would attract would be absolutely tiny) then it would be earthed and might just work. if it doesn't work then your friend might consider buying a longer telephone cable and routing it across the ceiling or floor so its a reasonable distance away from the electricity cable. Also can i ask how he knows it is definitely the interference being the problem here? Im not doubting it as a cause as it is quite likely given the high currents etc in a power cable but he should probable try some diagnosis with moving the router or modem so that the cables are far apart and then testing the connection speed to see if there is any changes. Like i said its definitely not impossible for interference to be a problem here methinks but also other issues might be affecting it.

Its sort of what i want, and i hadn't thought of using that way, probably because ive never used a function to count rows in a table. It looks good but the drawback is using that i would get data like this i think: but what i want is to alternate between data eg: the purpose of the script is to have a client's question listed then a response and then any follow up quuestions they had like:

Hi all, as part of a project i need to include data from two different tables in mysql in the following way: and so on. nw the best way i can think of this bearing in mind each table might have several rows which i need to pull, is to use a while loop for each query and i have one query for each table. that way i can pull as many rows as i need to, with me so far?! Thought not but ill carry on anyway! Now ive got eh data pulled from the database i need to somehow put it in the order shown in the quotes, the only way i could think to do this was to nest the second While loop so i end up with this structure: the problem is it doesnt seem to run the second while loop, why is this? a problem with my code (see below) or just because nested While loops dont work? CODE: while($row_client = mysql_fetch_array($result_client)){ $client_ref = $row_client['reference']; $client_subject = $row_client['subject']; $client_question = $row_client['question']; //while there are rows in ether table echo them. echo " <table bgcolor=#99ccff border=1 style=\"border-collapse:collapse; border-color:blue;\" width=49%> <TR><TD> <u><b>Client ref:</b> $client_ref <BR><BR> <b>Subject:</b> $client_subject </u> </TR></TD> <TR><TD> $client_question </TR></TD> </table>"; echo "1"; } While($row_team = mysql_fetch_array($result_team)){ $team_ref = $row_team['unique_ref']; $team_respondent = $row_team['respondent']; $team_response = $row_team['response']; echo " <BR><BR> <table bgcolor=#ccffcc border=1 style=\"border-collapse:collapse; border-color:blue;\" width=49%> <TR><TD> <u><b>Response ref:</b> $team_ref <b>Respondant:</b> $team_respondent </u> </TR></TD> <TR><TD> $team_response </TR></TD> </table>"; echo "2"; } yes, its messy

Hi all, this is my first function and as part of a script and i just want to know a couple of things. here is the code for the function: <?function clean($dirty_string) {$muddy_string = stripslashes($dirty_string);$murky_string = strip_tags($muddy_string);$clean_string = htmlentities($murky_string); };?> So the first thing is how secure is it? the script this will be used in connects to a database and sends an email so it needs to stop SQL injections and any email abuse it might cause, also the data stored in the database will be usaed as part of a HTML page so it needs to be HTML proof which is why i used HTMLENTITIES and of course STRIP_TAGS gets rid of php and HTML so was a good choice i thought. That is all really! If its not that secure then are there any other built in functions i could add? Thanks

Editing Information In A Mysql Database And Deleting Rows
shadowx replied to Mystixs's topic in Programming
Hey there, for a basic example of UPDATE check this: http://www.tizag.com/mysqlTutorial/mysqlupdate.php If you click on the "next" link then youll see an example of delete also. i think its worth expanding on this part though: i dont like the WHERE part of this example so let me show how i would explain... we will assume that there is a table of say usernames and passwords called "users" and a user wants to change their password. So of course they login and put the new password and click a button to change their password. the php code to edit the field "password" in the DB and change it to their new password would be like this assuming their username is "bob" and their old password was "bobspass" and their new password is "bobnew": $result = mysql_query("UPDATE users SET password='bobnew' WHERE username='bob'") or die(mysql_error()); simple the syntax for update is: UPDATE table_name SET field_name='New_value' WHERE field_name='Old_value' and DELETE is: DELETE FROM table_name WHERE field_name='a_value' If you need help with connecting to the database etc just ask and we will be glad to help. I wont post it now but if you need any more help just ask! -

shadowx replied to shadowx's topic in Computer Gaming
as this is still on topic it saves me making a new thread:What do i do with the marks of honour i get? I know i can trade them with honour points for high level goods but im not anywhere near that level yet, and i also heard they can be traded for experience? If i can trade them in for anything, what is it i get? and where can i do this? Experience would be a nice reward! -
World Of Warcraft And The Battlegrounds some info if you please
shadowx replied to shadowx's topic in Computer Gaming
sorry its a bit confusing. Let me explain, since i started playing there were npc's and when i talked to them they said i wasn't strong enough to fight in alterac valley which i understand is another battllleground. after a while some different npc's stood in their place and when i talked to them i could click text saying "join the battle for warsong gluch" if thats how its spelt. And i did and was added to the queue and battled. i took a screen of them here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (if you get a permission denied error just hit the GO button in your browser What i saying is that before it was these emissary's it was the eye of the storm ones so what im saying is because the eye of the storm ones got replaced maybe the silverwing ones will be replaced too and then i wont know how to get to the battleground. im confused too now. Ive read that battlemasters can be found in the keep of SW so im going to see if i can find them and see if they are what im looking for but methinks theyre not. EDIT** sorry the keep is the pace to go and ive found my answer now! Thanks though! -
if you pm me your email address i can send an invite to that address, i believe its the only way to do it. Also next time try using the search feature as there are several threads like this. And this thread will probably be merged with one of the others. Anyway pm me and ill send an invite to the email address you give me. Just remember to search next time! and by the way welcome

hi allI started playing WOW a little while ago, im level 17 and today found the warsong gluch battleground through a silverwing (or something, i cant remember exactly) emissionary and i was wondering a few things.Where do i cash in the ticket things i get in the battlegrounds? Bear in mind i dont know the area in which the battleground is, i just talked to one of those guys in stormwind and was whisked straight into the battle grounds. How do i get back to the arena once the emissionarys are gone? Before these guys were the stormpike ones and i was too low level for that so im guessing these guys wont be in storm wind forever so once theyre gone how do i get back to the grounds? ive heard they are in the barrows or something, so how do i get there? im a level 17 human warrior by the way.

Well ive heard of it before but not in much detail. The thing that interests me is how they claim to have REM sleep, unless they radically alter their brain i dont see how this is possible, it generally takes abut an hour before we enter REM sleep and then the cycle repeats so that after that first REM is over we have another in about an hour which is why we have more than one dream even if we dont remember them all. So presuming they sleep a max of half an hour they should in theory be a long way off of REM unless of course their brains are "sleeping" while they are "awake" meaning their brain waves would be similar to when we are in lighter stages of sleep leading up to REM so that when they do go to sleep their brain doesnt have far to go before REM. But this would presumably make them slow etc...and maybe experience sleep paralysis during waking hours. And although Lucid dreaming could be good but in this case i think it might suggest the brain is too active during REM and so not making the most of it. the reason this is important is because its thought that during REM is when we arrange our brain and its thoughts, memories etc and carry out "maintenance" and without this its thought we can deteriorate. I know no sleep makes us die and hallucinate which is essentially REM during wakefulness so the brain obviously thinks REM is important. Still i cant dispute facts if it really does work then so be it!

its not really provocation though, of curse provocation is subjective to the person who is being "provoked" meaning something might provoke someone but not someone else, but this really isnt provocation. i actually think that if the Chinese leader would issue a statement to the world just saying they're not aiming these missiles at anyone else and it was a private test of a weapon maybe more people would see that bushy is wrong. Anyway satellites aren't that reliable if we consider the fact that a solar storm would destroy most of them anyway, and they could be hit at any time by debris and they are in a public, law free zone (space). maybe some good will come from this, as delivi said it does show that a terrorist organisation *could* in theory take down a lot of communication and so maybe someone will find another method of communications. I think you hit the nail right on the head there!
-
Ill assume youre a victim of the paranoid area they call america.Do you think that America doesnt have nukes? missiles capable of destroying satellites just like china? guantanamo bay? claims to own, yes OWN, space around the earth, a paranoid conception of the world, especially the eastern word, EG china, iran, iraq, and korea and any other country they believe is either too weak to win or is getting to strong? Please save the talk that America is defending the world and we need america, the world would be better off if bush, and blair, because although im English i know he is a turd, died tonight. And yes is my neighbour shot his chimney off with a rocket so long as he didnt even think about aiming it me then fair enough, sure id be a bit scared but i wouldn't invade his house and kill him AND his entire familly. and a the guy next door using an RPG is a bit different to a country thousands of miles away using a missile. At the end of the day Bush is a deluded fool who has spread propaganda, as has blair, we cant excuse him, to convince his country of lies and infact his own government has turned on him now. The world is seeing how paranoid he is, he blamed god for invading iraq for god's sake! If china want to shoot their own satellites they can, they can do what they want in internation areas or in their own country as long as they harm no-one and space is international and the satellite was their own. There is no problem with that at all.
-
when will american governments stop being such a**** i mean please the Chinese shot down their own god damned satellite, america doesnt own space and it never will as much as it wants to, the American government are propaganda spreading scum intent on destroying the eastern world because we all know america is the greatest country in the world...not. America isnt the only one with satellites in space everyone has so america needs to but out. China has the right to launch missiles into space and do whatever the hell they want as long as it doesnt harm the property of anyone else which it hasnt. China arent challenging the world theyre testing themselves and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to think twice. If they wanted to engaged the world in war they could, they have nukes, missiles the lot. Sorry if i offended anyone but i hate the American government and i actually wish death upon bush and in fact blair. They cant spread these lies about the world and live. freedom is what the Chinese are exercising, well the government as we all know that the chinese leadership is also scummy. And the american leaders dont want the world to have freedom they are trying to control the world. I believe they did actually try claiming ownership of space at one time... i say no more except we need to see the truth not american or british government lies. for the record im british and i mean this post to offend no-one except the government of the above mentioned countries.

Well its almost right except to send out HTML or any text you need to use either echo "<center>Want to try again?etc etc..."; Or print "text here..."; I normally use echo and according to the php manual site ECHO is slightly faster so id reccomend using that. In which case your code would be like this: if($answer != "TRUE"){echo "<center>Want to try again? <br /><br /> <a href='index.php'>Yes</a> <a href='http://google.com'>No</a></center>";};?> See the echo command and the double quotes enclosing the HTML. Also its very important that you remove all double quotes from within the text, eg you had double quotes, and rightly so, around the page filename in the hyperlinks but when ECHO finds a double quote it just stops and buggers the whole page up! So instead i replaced them with single quotes, you can also completely remove them. If you really really need the double quotes to be displayed then you can use a backslash \ just before the double quotes eg: echo "<a href=\"somewhere.html\"> somewhere </a>"; And that would be fine. Now about redirecting someone to a different page, there is a method in php but the drawback is that you cant use any echo or print or most other commands before it. The best way i think is to use javascript, im not very god with JS so i use codes i find on google for that! Just search for a javascript redirect and use an echo command to send it to the browser remembering to deal with the double quotes! There is also one more method for changing the page, you can use an INCLUDE function. All this does it take the code from one file and run it, so if you had two pages the user can access the first and then the INCLUDE function will open the second, take the code from inside and run it as if it was the first page. In your code i would use something like this: <?if($answer != "TRUE"){ include("wrong.htm"); }ELSE{ include("right.htm");};?> if they get the answer wrong the first INCLUDE will run and it will load the file "wrong.htm" you can change this to whatever page you wanted, maybe a page saying you got it wrong start again or something. if they get it right the second INCLUDE will run and it will load the file "right.htm" again you can change this, possibly so that it loads the next question. the important thing to remember is that using INCLUDE the original file contents dont disappear, so if you include page 2 from page 1 then you will have code from both pages, and then you include another you will have 3 files worth of code, it wont save like this but it might make loading times longer for that user. Overall for this example of the quiz i would use the javascript idea but in the future for things like making a log in system or things like that the INCLUDE idea is very usefull and i think a lot of content management systems use INCLUDE to load pages. Hope that isnt confusing! And the $answer = $_GET['answer']; is to set up a variable. Some places wont take a variable from the URL. So for example on my website i use a variable called "module" in my url like : "modules.php?module=something " and in some places my code will automatically use that variable but in other places i have to tell it t use that variable by using code like you asked about above. $_GET simply means look for a variable in the URL of this page. ['answer'] Means look for the variable answer in the URL So the code above is saying $answer EQUALS the variable named "answer" in the URL. Not all hosts need this line but i think on my account here i needed to add it. Im not sure if you realized but there was a bracket missing from the code when you posted it, if thats how it is in your page then adding the bracket in like above should make it work. Sorry this post is so long!!

Can Anti-viruses Software Slow Down Adsl Access?
shadowx replied to woolla's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well if there is a virus or spy ware on your machine it can be accessing the internet and sending or receiving information and this would slow the connection down. Anti-spyware/virus/adware applications do access the internet to download patches and updates however i dont think they would slow it down that much. One thing to do would be to run one machine only and find an internet speed test on google and test the speed and write it down, then on the same machine turn off the anti-virus *for a very short time only!* and do the test again, then turn the anti-virus etc.. back on to be safe. And see if there is a difference, if there is a big difference then that could be the issues but i doubt it. More likely is the fact of having three machines on the net each. Its normally unlikely to get the full 2mb anyway, ive got the same but i never get the full 2mb because broadband connections are shared in an area so if everyone in your street has the same broadband connection yours will be slower anyway, and if all your three machines are on the net together they will each get one third of the avaliable speed which would be about .5 - .75mb anyway. So try using one machine only if possible and test the speed, it might be faster. If there is no difference in speed for either of those methods do a virus scan and if that comes up clean phone them again and tell them everything youve done and say your sure its not a problem with your machines. It could be a damaged line or something. -
Shining's code is a mix of php and JS, the JS is inside the ECHO command, so the php does the IF statement and then uses ECHO to make some JS to show the user. I think the best way to use Shining's code wuld be to use a GET variable. EG you have two or more pages, say page one says "MY name is Boozker. TRUE|FALSE" and "true" and "false" are hyperlinks. Now they should link to the second page like this: <a href=page_two.php?answer=TRUE>TRUE</a>|<a href=page_two.php?answer=FALSE>FALSE</a> note the GET variable 'answer' at the end of the URL. Then on page two you would use code like: $answer = $_GET['answer'; So now we have either "TRUE" or "FALSE" in our variable, and then use the IF function from shining and change the variable $var to $answer in the IF function and delete the first line. And change "Boozker" in the IF to ether "TRUE" or "FALSE". That will then show the message you want if its true or false and then after the end of the IF you can either use ECHO to build the rest of the HTML or end the php with "?>" and start html with "<HTML>" and write the HTML that way. And if you want false you can either write "FALSE" in the code or you can use the NOT EQUAL to code which is simply instead of two equals signs "==" you do an exclamation mark and an equals sign : "!=". So if you wanted to say: IF the answer IS NOT true { i will do this } the code is IF($answer != "TRUE"){do this ... ... ... ...}; and of course you can expand this code with the ELSE part too and that will be run if the answer IS true. So whereas in a normal IF TRUE function like shining wrote, the first lines are done if something *is* true in a "NOT TRUE" function like the one above, the first few lines are done if the IF statement is *not* true. So things are reversed, that can be confusing sometimes. Does that help?
