  1. I know you guys already have Qupis but I'm just wondering if you guys can give me a free hosting service and I will be the one to manually put your ads? text ads or a banner will be fine. I just wanna be totally in control of my site's layout first.
  2. Hello,I've been a member of the old forums, Xisto for a long time. Now I've signed up to Xisto, I am mainly using myCents. Will my old posts be transferred here and be included in the myCents thing?
  3. Hello, As of now I'm trying to reformat a friend's laptop. It's an old one. Sony VAIO, with a 512 MB of RAM, Intel Pentium 4 3 Ghz with an 80 GB of hard drive. ATI video card I think. The user is just someone who access Facebook, Yahoo! Messenger and a bit of Skype. Most of the time, the user plays a game called Slot Machine from Slot Plus Casino. It's a free game that simulates a Slot Machine game with virtual betting stuff. Now, I hate Ubuntu because of the Unity thing. I did some research. Linux Mint and OpenSUSE. Apparently, I'm confused. Linux Mint has KDE and GNOME as well as OpenSUSE. Which of the two (Linux Mint vs. OpenSUSE) will I install and will I use KDE or GNOME? What's the default Desktop Environment that comes with Linux Mint and OpenSUSE? Which is better KDE or GNOME? The user is really used to Windows XP. I can't use Windows 7 because the DVD drive isn't working properly. It can't read DVDs but CDs are okay. I also can't install Windows 7 via Network Installation. I don't know how to do a Network Installation of Windows 7. I only have 2 laptops (mine) with Windows 7 installed. Anyway I'm waiting for everyone's reply. As of now, I'm burning Windows XP into a CD-R.
  4. Hello,It's been a while since I visited Xisto and this is what I saw. Xisto reminded me of my teenage years as I am exploring the world of website designing and PHP programming. As far as I know I celebrated lots of birthdays with everyone at Xisto. I met a lot of amazing programmers and designers here.Anyway I'm looking forward to contribute to the community in the future and to collaborate with everyone. Thanks and Happy Holidays everyone :-)

  6. Hi guys!My Dad gave me a Sony VAIO Laptop, he bought it in Kuwait City. Then when he went home (Philippines), he gave it to me. And it totally changed my life ;)I'm really happy using my new laptop. It's my first VAIO laptop. The first laptop I used, literally, was an Acer Aspire 5500z. I've used it for more than 2 years. The only thing I hate about it is it doesn't support Windows 7. Well, you can use Windows 7 properly but wihout the Aero effects. Probably because the graphics card is just 64mb. Modifying the BIOS settings did not work either. I already tried changing the memory from 64mb to 256mb just by modifying the shared memory settings. Still no luck.Thank god because my Dad gave me a new laptop. Actually my first choice was the F series and then the Intel Core 2 Duo CW series. But, the F series and Intel Core 2 Duo CW series were out of stock. That's why I immediately browsed Sony VAIO's Middle East website. I saw the VPC-CW26FA model. I totally love it. It's a lot faster than the Intel Core 2 Duo (I guess) since it's i5. Please don't hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong. My first choice for a VAIO laptop would be the F series. Then the second one is the CW series with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Unfortunately, my Dad told me that the F series and the Intel Core 2 Duo CW series were not available. It was out of stock. I then immediately access the Internet then I saw the CW26FA model. I love it, it's perfect. I personally think it's a lot faster than the Intel COre 2 Duo model. Don't you think so?I love it. It's white. It looks like a MAC :POriginally it comes with Windows 7 Home Premium. I really want to have Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm still wondering how can I convert to Windows 7 Ultimate. I have an installer of Windows Ultimate but I"m afraid that might delete the VAIO Softwares that came with this laptop. Of course, before installing or doing anything on my new laptop, I created a backup/recovery disk. It used 3-4 Single layer DVD disks.Since it's white and I think it's perfect, I wanna take care of this laptop as much as possible. It's pefect, fast, quality is clear and superb. I hope in the future I know where to buy a Sony VAIO Cleaning Kit, Sony VAIO Mouse, Sony VAIO Protection Kit (if there's one) and the Sony VAIO Keyboard Protector thing. I saw this rubber, which is the size a VAIO Laptop's keyboard. And you just put it over your Laptop's keyboard. It's like a protection for the laptop's keyboard.Let us now discuss my old laptop. There's a problem with it's battery because when I use it's battery, it's only good for 5-10 minutes then it goes off. I'm still thinking the reason why there's a problem with that laptop's battery. Is it because it's really old? Like 2-3 years old? Or is it because that old laptop was always in AC Power and I rarely use the battery of that laptop?I think it's impossible. Because most of the battery of laptops these days are all Lithium-ion right? So if the battery is full, it would stop the charging automatically, right? It would totally use the AC Power, not the laptop's battery power.Moving forward, since I totally love my new VAIO laptop, I am so paranoid when using it. It's battery is full. Windows 7 would say it's fully charged, 100%. I'm on AC Power. Is it still charging it even though it's full? Or the hardware/software is totally using the AC Power, and not charging the battery of the laptop? Does it automatically halt the charging if the battery is full to prevent battery performance issues? Also, there's this Sony VAIO software that has "Battery Care Functon for Longer Life" function. My question is, do I need to use 50% of the battery or 80% of it and which is better? Those options were in the Power Option section of the Sony VAIO Control Center.Of course, we don't want the battery degrading easily right? So I then selected the Battery Care 50% in the Sony VAIO Control Center. My laptop is fully charged, and then I turned it off. After a few minutes my Dad turned it on, he forgot to plug it in to the power outlet. He used it for about 15 minutes. After that he turned it off again. After an hour I turned it on, made sure it's plugged in to the power outlet. Windows 7 shows that the Battery level is 91%, and it's pluged in but not charging. It's a good thing. I least I won't be paranoid and there's an assurance that whenever the laptop is plugged in to power, it won't overcharge it. After a while, I decided to drain the battery. I used it for 2-3 hours. Good job Sony! I love the battery life! The laptop turned off by it self, because the battery is empty. While the laptop is still turned off, I plug it in to the power outlet. After an hour or two, I turned it on then it says 50% plugged in, not charging. It means 50% of the laptop's battery is charged. Then what happened to the other 50%? Is it because of the Battery Care thing of Sony VAIO Control Center? Now, I decided to conduct a little experiment. I turned off the Battery Care Function. After a few seconds, it charges. I waited until it's 100%. Now it says Fully charged, 100%. So does that mean even though it's 100%, it's still charging? It should say, 100% Fully charged, plugged in, not charging. So it means at 100%, it's still continiously charging?I'm thinking of other ways how to prevent the battery from degrading... is it a good idea every time I use the laptop in AC Power, I will remove the battery first from the laptop?Lastly, I tried using the Sony VAIO Media Gallery program, and I don't understand what's the purpose of that program or what does it do. By default, it's a part of the Windows 7 Sidebar Gadgets. The only gadget that I see is the Sony VAIO Media Gallery program logo. I double-clicked it, then I configured the program to search for Pictures automatically. Now, it displays like a slideshow of my Pictures on my Windows 7 Sidebar. Is it possible to reset the entire settings of Sony VAIO Media Gallery to factory defaults?Do I also need to register my Sony VAIO Laptop? I can't see the registration page of Sony Philippines and the Sony Middle East Website. That's the reason why I register it through Club VAIO. Did I do things correctly?I also bought an HDMI Cable. It's just a generic type. At first I plugged it in to my Brvia TV. It doesn't work. It says the resolution does not match, some errors too. I changed it, then it works. Using the right resolution whether it's an Extended Desktop or a Duplicate Desktop, it works. After a few days of using it, it doesn't work anymore. Is it an HDMI Cable issue? I tried switching both ends of the cable and it doesn't work. My Sony VAIO Laptop can't detect the HDMI Cable I plugged in as well as my Bravia TV. Does that mean do I need to purchase the original HDMI Cable from Sony Retail Stores? It's kinda expensive though.I'll be waiting for your reply,Thanks in advance.
  7. I see... PHP is an open source language. Facebook is sooo perfect. Try to access it right now
  8. I see...I haven't been to Xisto for a long time... I thought it's automatic and depends on the length of the posts.
  9. As soon as you're computer finished loading or finished booting up, all you need to do is to click on the Start button, click on Run. then type in shutdown -a and press enter. Done. Go to https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl and search for ESET Online Scanner. Do a scan of your computer. The free scanner will scan your computer for viruses and remove those viruses (if there's any).
  10. First of all, you need to learn HTML. There are a lot of online resources, if you use Google. While studying HTML, I suggest you try to study CSS as well, It's for the interface of you're website. If your actually an observer, you'll notice that majority of the website these days uses CSS instead of using Tables. At the same time they also uses JavaScript and AJAX, combining them with PHP+MySQL. Which makes it a very powerful website. Good example is, of course, facebook.com
  11. Did I forgot to indicate what was I am experiencing? Anyway I'm experiencing that when I leave the laptop turned on.. probably more than 5 hours. It automatically shuts down, or restarts itself. Also, when I'm using it for more than 3 hours, I really feel the heating of my laptop's keyboard. Sometimes, explorer always crashes. Sometimes, I can't run programs for no reasons. I also wanted to know if it's damaged or if that memory is really compatible to my laptop. I'm really becoming paranoid with opening laptops etc.. but not with CPUs. I have the memory's box and the memory's receipt with me. By the way, what type of memory can you recommend? Or what manufacturer? For Laptops and For Desktops?
  12. First of all here are my computer specs: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -or- Download the Reports here I bought a new memory. 1gb. Kingston. I haven't got the time to check the authenticity of the memory card because I don't know how to insert it onto my laptop. So I let the technician do it for me. I know it's authentic. But I can't verify it to Kingston's Website because I don't know how to check the serial number inside my laptop. At the same time I'm afraid to check it out because I have to open my laptop. Anyway here's the new memory: So, while writing this down. Thanks to this tool.. I was aware of the ... probably damage? By the way I thought Kingston offers a life time warranty. If that's the case then why is the "computer store" offering me 1year of warranty? (check the attachment)
  13. I'm really interested in the paid plans of Xisto. Because it's really cheap and I love it. I know that the service is fast and stable as well. There's a problem though. I don't know how to pay the fee. I'm from the Philippines so how can I pay the hosting fees.Question though, on you're linux hosting, I'm really confused. Example in the size and bandwidth... why is ranging to *GB (to) *TB ? It means the storage is unlimited? Same as for the bandwidth? Also, I really wanted to register my domain with you guys. Since it's really cheap as well. I think it's only P495 pesos, because you're hosting and domain registration are almost P495-520 here in the Philippines. Example, in domain name registration it costs P550 pesos. So with you're service it's cheaper. So, If i'm on paid hosting, will I still be a Xisto member? or just for a fallback. example, something happened like a delay in the payment and then u terminated my account in the paid hosting.. can you place my files in to the Xisto hosting? like a backup hosting..? just a situation but rest assured that it will never gonna happen.anyway i'm excited to use you're paid hosting to host some of our pictures etc...
  14. Thank you. Well the problem right now is, I'm not on DSL. Still applying for one, so I'm using dial-up. Does w3schools offer an eBook or something, which will allow me to download their articles for offline viewing? I used EditPlus before, and when you type an incomplete PHP code, a tooltip appears, telling you what you need to type and what does it do. Notepad++ does not have that feature. That's why I'm planning to use PHP Designer 2008. Is it ok to use it? What do you think? Any suggestions? I've downloaded an offline version of the PHP manual. It's the chm format and I love it.. how about AJAX manual(s)? I tried downloading some eBooks about AJAX, and AJAX is not user-friendly. If only there's a PHP Class AJAX or something, which will make developing AJAX websites a lot easier.
  15. I don't know.. hmm.. thank you for making me realize this... well... I think you have to sacrifice something. Use the modern way of creating websites, but you will not be paid by Google. Or use the traditional way, HTML, add CSS for a little touch of modernization.
  16. Simple answer. NOD32 is faster, Notron is not. Research about it. Well, NOD32 is an, Antivirus. It's NOD32. But have you heard of NOD32 Smart Security which includes a (Firewall, Antivirus, Antispyware, Antirootkit)--basically every *anti* you can think off!
  17. I've been programming with PHP for a long time now, well a few months ago. I stopped doing it because of work, and because of another hobby, video editing. Now, I wanted to try PHP again, and probably just "refresh* my knowledge about it. I really wanted to make websites, specially my own website. I downloaded XAMPPLite and WAMPServer, to see which of the two really works best. I know there's a PHP Manual available for download, for Offline use. I downloaded it directly at the PHP Website.Since I'm on dial-up right now, I really needed everything to be offline. Where can I get tutorials, manuals or guides for AJAX, PHP+AJAX, XHTML and CSS?Also, I use EditPlus with alot of Add-ons. Can you recommend another editor?A good one, that is being used nowadays?I think EditPlus is a thing of the past. Thanks everyone and waiting for you're reply.
  18. Thanks for the reply, but I wanted friendly hosts, like flickr etc.. To display pictures, like Picasa .. but I wanted more, something unique, because Flickr is very common. Photobucket, is for people who just wanted to host their images, then post the images onto the forums etc.. much like imageshack.
  19. The recovery disk program etc, find it on the Programs menu. I assume you are using windows, right?
  20. Gedit is an editor for Linux Operating Systems, similar to Notepad in windows. There are many programs there that will help you code PHP, with code coloring etc.. But if you want to make websites as soon as possible without the knowledge of HTML, use a CMS. Content Management System. When you use that kind of technology or what so ever, you'll have a quality website in minutes. Think of it as a html builder or something. Try this one http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  21. Hello, since I can't post to the Internet secion of this forum, I'll post it here. I am still doing my best to get more than 30 credits, right now I only have the halfAnyway alot of our relative uses Flickr (which sucks--limitations) and Kodak photo sharing thingy. Now, me I wanted to be unique at the same time to help other relatives in choosing the right site to upload their pictures of course, with a wonderful features. Can you please help me or recommend me some photo sharing sites, where I can upload my pictures or pictures of our family? If possible, those with some helpful clients, which will help you upload photos, If not, it's OK.I need something like, without the limitation in Flickr, the bandwidht or upload bandwidth thing, something like that. I want something friendly (for them) or unfriendly, like for power users (for me) ...Can you please recommend some? Hoping for your reply...
  22. Ok let me get this straight. Example I already have hosting here, any package. How many Credits to I need to avail this Free Domain Name? What IF I have no hosting, at the same time I would like my website to be hosted here for free at the same time avail of the Free Domain Name, how many hosting credits?
  23. First of all, I like the design of the message that was given to you by the moderator. What's your maya calendar and where did you get it? Are you some kind of a paranormal thingy?
  24. Why not make your own PHP Script? You'll have this proud feeling that you made a good one. At the same time, you can customize it the way you want and probably change the theme, if you want to. Me, normally I don't trust CMS because it's like you made your website using the free hosts tools out there. I personally make websites, just by using Gedit (because i'm using linux, very happy ) or Notepad. Trust me, you'll love it. Specially when adding some nonsense, like adding random numbers and letters to your website, for verification purposes, but mostly to trick users, to make your website look professional and secured.
