i meant to thank you for responding, wd. i think it was you who bumped this thread when the spam was buring it. i know you had no clue like me what the problem was, but you did manage to help revive the topic. now i have a fairly good idea what is going on. i created a support ticket early in the afternoon yesterday so i am way ahead of ya it's the weekend now. i doubt i will be recieving any support for a few days. another reason why i will be moving ALL my hosting in two weeks. at the very least, downgrade my account and let host gator have my business. xisto could have had it. i tested them right after i upgraded my account and failed miserable. pretty much the same way the forum is being run right now. i haven't given up all hope though....although hope has always been my downfall in life.

And anwiii, why don't you just make them all .php files instead of using that technique which is for age old html websites where the owner didn't want to change all the page extensions to .php?

yea, that will be my last resort. for now though, i have to give xisto some crap. i can't wait for their response. they need to fix it. not me....and they also have to warn users when they are changing their customers servers so problems like this can be quickly addressed. a monkey can do the job better. i am sure glad i chose the philippines to outsource to.....

bani- you are absolutely correct. originally i thought it was my .htaccess file but disregarded it beause i had removed all info from it and still did the same thing. silly me, i didn't do a hard refresh. only a soft refresh. before reading your post, i was wondering why my php scripts weren't working on my main page. it turns out that the server isn't recognizing what's contained in the .htaccess file the specific line of code is....

AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

this one line use to allow php scripts to be embedded in html websites. it seems after the server change which i wasn't notified of, everything went to *BLEEP*. i am going to have to curse xisto for yet another blunder here. they are really pissing me off with things lately....ESPECIALLY when beta server was always down and their server status wouldn't recognize it being down. i think i am just going to plan on moving everything to hostgator except my domains and use my remaining credits for domains only. i can't have this incompetence when i am about to buy about 100 or so domains in bulk soon.

i was thinking of writing a support ticket, but i wanted to make sure even my backup file does the same thing. i know it's not something i did with the code because i haven't touched the code in ages. i guess i will get of my lazy butt and upload my index file and related files that i know were working at the time. ***update*** something happened where my site loads now. some of the links don't work, but that may be because i changed permissions a couple days ago thinking it may be my permissions and possibly a hacker. let's update this is real time..... ***update*** ok i changed permissions and i can access the blog part of my site. there still seems to be a problem with the php script on the main page though. this could be an issue when they moved my site according to velma. i don't know. let me check what server i am on..... ***update*** yup! indeed my hosting was moved to a new server. i tried to check the server info at https://support.xisto.com/serverstatus.php but it isn't listed. i will have to look more in to this later and also write a support ticket to ask them why my hosting was moved.

Or Or or Or Or Or.. The best most reliable method is to send a support ticket with your Cpanel username & password. The admins should be able to correct it quickly, must be something connected to your permissions since your account was recently moved from one of the old servers onto the latest one SIVA
Trust me, they will have it sorted really quickly and you won't have to delete any files whatsoever.

UPDATE: Interesting, I did not see Iniyila's post when I posted mine, odd. But yes a support admin feels that the problem lies in your index.html page and no where else. the admin was able to view your html & php files so you need to check the code in your index.html page.

can someone please advise? please visit one of my older sites i hardly do anything with anymore. when i visit it, it tries to open a file rather than load the webpage itself. funny thing is, it's having problems in firefox, but not in ie(i RARELY use ie). i tried to test it in ie when it was having problems loading in firefox. see if you can spot the problem and advise for any possible solutions. online cheapo

i haven't touched this site in ages and it is just automatically doing this without any edits to it. i thought at first it had to do with my .htaccess file, but i removed the contents from it and still having the same problems. i am too busy with other things to be fiddling around with it.

yes to all the questions. what you want to do is open up a communication line so she is able to talk to you about anything and you are able to talk to her about anything. after that, respect her wishes right now and see what happens. there is a reason why she wants to take things slow so don't push her. it should be enough right now that you talk every day and have the opportunity to be with eachother.

i am not understanding what you want to do when you say upload. you want to upload a pdf here? where? do you mean you want to convert the pdf to text and post it here?if you created a pdf, why not just post a rewritten excerpt and post a link to the pdf?i have never heard of anyone uploading a pdf here before. i guess that's why i am a bit confused what you actually want to do.with that said, tutorial have the same rules as any other post here. original content ONLY. a good rule of thumb is that before you post something and are questioning the originality, take one line and google it. if google shows the exact words being indexed on another site, then it isn't original. even if there is unoriginal content posted here, it can still be considered original if the content from the other site isn't indexed yet.these rules are primarily based for seo purposes i believe as google devalues unoriginal content and it hurts the forum when unoriginal content is posted.if you don't get an answer from a mod, then do what you like. the worst that can happen is that you get a warning. big deal :)the only problem with that is you will have to bring back your warning level to 0 in order to collect your past due mycents you have accululated while you had a warning level

yea, i use google apps for a few of my domain and you shouldn't have to do both. one or the other is sufficient. you can also change your cname and that can be used to verify your ownership as well.one last option is to ask your domain host to change the records for you if you don't have access to a control panel or a way to change dns recordsfinally, i will even give you a fourth option to recieve mail. if you have a gmail account and want to link a new domain, to verify, all you need to do is forward the domain to your gmail account when linking accounts. this option doesn't make use of google apps though as per your thread request.i wouldn't trust any company that didn't allow me to change my own dns records though. think about transferring the domain name or dumping it all together. i don't trust it. plus, you got it for free. what can you expect :)check your who is records to find out if you actually really own it.edit: i just woke up. forgive me. those are the options to verify your account. to USE it, you would have to at the very least change your mx records and wait a day to 2 days while the changes propogate. so just verifying your account with a text file wont do you any good if you can't change your dns records. is this domain so worth it you need to keep it? if so, maybe you shoulda just bought it through xisto. you can always transfer it here but please make sure you actually own it first. some companies like to say they are giving away free domain for a year, but they trick you by purchasing it under their own name

i was talking to someone recently who never heard this song and it inspired me to post it because i know there are so many people out there that haven't heard it yet. it came out in january 1985 and raised over 60 million dollars for charity for africa and the u.s.

it's true i don't post songs very often, but this song has a lot of meaning behind it and very inspirational. the recording was a prelude to the live aide concert done in the summer of 1985 on three seperare continents which also rasied millions of dollars for africa. this concert was live and was shown around the world where the top musicians and artists of our time stood on one stage.

personally, i don't think it's necessary. it is good business practice though and large american corporations seem to utilize this philosophy, especially when expanding oversees. you use mcdonalds as an example so let me give an example to show my skepticism as to the necessity you are referring to. have you been to a mcdonalds in the u.s. recently? the native language is english yet they hire non native english speakers for their order takers who you can hardly understand. american food chains may eliminate certain items from their menus in other countries to respect the culture/religious beliefs, but when the shoe is on the other foot and we try to eat foreign authentic foods here in the u.s., there are no menu changes to respect culture or religious beliefs. we get true authentic food. is it necessary to be culturally sensitive to be successful? NO. more successful? maybe...it depends on the definition of success.if it's better to adapt to your specific location and start changing the menu, when does it become too much? if it IS really good business sense, are americans the only ones with good business sense or are americans just trying to capitalize on making more money rather than choosing better locations where a traditional menu would be accepted?when you walk in to a japanese or chinese place here in america, you hear the employes talking chinese and japanese in public all the time where most states in american have now past down laws that is it illegal to do so. there is a reason why there is a language test before becoming a u.s. citizen. very few people complain or make it an issue though....even when their customer service is the least to be desired. i'll still eat their though because their foods are amazing.i only used a food chain as an example, but by point can extend to other products and services as well.

i haven't tried frog legs yet. it's something i have wanted to try for a while now!the weirdest things i have eaten revolve around a cow. i have tried cow tongue, cow intestine, and cow brains. i did eat zebra and ostrich once. that ostrich meat is nasty though. leaves a bad after taste.the very first weird thing i ate as a little kid was a peanut butter sandwhich, but instead of having a plain one, one day i decided to add sugar to it. it was sooooooo good :)also, this isn't really weird, but i don't know anyone who does this, but it is really good. crispy fried hard salami. that thinly sliced hard salami you can buy at the grocery store near the cheese and other sliced meats. i like to throw them on a frying pan 5 at a time. they aren't just good for sandwhiches. i even bake them to where they are really crispy.

oh i love to eat. that's why i am not so concerned about this negative food calorie stuff. i like all the stuff that is typically bad for ya. it's starting to show now a little in my old age where my metabolism isn't what it used to be so now i am thinking of exercising more if i can just get myself in to some sort of productive routine again

well normally, i would try to give some good advice when people are having problems. in your case though, i want to suggest something different. you're not a *****.....you're just shy and you really don't know how to approach this person and let out your feelings for her. so here's my suggestion for you and it's pretty easy. i found writing someone is easier sometimes than to talk to them face to face.my suggestion for you right now is to copy this post, paste it in an email and send it to her. and so she knows why you are doing this, you can show her my response as well. i think you need to stop punishing yourself. all your feelings are in what you posted and she will clearly know how much you feel for her and care about her if you just show her what you posted. she will even understand why you've been an *bottom* sometimes too.then all you have to do is ask her what her reaction to all this is and what she thinks.it's that simple. don't think about it, just do it. do it now.....stop thinking....and if you are still reading this, you haven't done it yet....do it.....do it now! :)no more excuses!!!okay....sorry. on a side note though, you really need to know how she feels. in order to accomplish this, you need to tell her how YOU feel first. it's obvious someone needs to start talking about it. just because she isn't doesn't mean she isn't interested in you being more than friends. i mean, look at yourself. you have hardly said a few words to her in how you feel. she flirts with you and you don't respond? how do you think it makes her feel? rejected? you think she's going to continue doing that if you reject her or if she feels you aren't responding to her attention towards you? the worse that will happen is that she IS possibly interested, but she doesn't want a relationship to affect the friendship. but listen, if you guys connect(and it certainly sound like you both do), then you owe it to yourselves to give it a shot and take things slowly and see if it can work out between the two of you. also, don't let alcohol influence things between you two or only bad things will happen and turn out hurting the both of you in the end. she doesn't sound like someone you are interested in just partying with so be responsible when you are drinking around hergood luck!
