I cringe everytime the adverts come on.

Microsoft is ditching Frontpage, but I can't remember what it's being replaced with. With regards to your point, there is no need for anyone to upgrade to this new version, as the one which is currently available will do everything. There is a special Student and Teacher copy, at a reduced price, albeit with less programs. The interface looks really different, and the first time I saw it, I thought to myself, I'm gonna get confused, but I'm sure when it's delievered, within an hour we'll all get the hang of it. pretty Classy UI as well, I suppose Microsoft is trying to lessen the differences in terms of looks, between Office on Windows and Office on a Macintosh

That is very true, however it seems that Winzip is more popular. Why is that. I think it's because people aren't aware of winrar, and as most compressed files have a *.zip extension, the name "winzip" just seems appropriate. Anyone remember back in 1997, when we had PKZip and PKUnzip?? I wonder whatever became of them?

So, do you go to a building and meet other programmers, or is all of the interaction done over the internet. As a programming savvy, enthusiastic student, I would be most interested, but I don't think being in the UK would allow to participate.

Microsoft Warns Users Of Pirated Windows Os with a Desktop Message
tt3 replied to Inspiron's topic in Operating Systems
It is about time Microsoft really got tuff on pirates, instead of putting up pathetic nag screens warning people. The way I see it, MS, should have a screen come up, locking users out of the operating system, and hard coding it into the OS. -
It's a cheap way of exploiting people in order to get high ratings. There's very little quality inthe programmes, and on the whole, they are a complete bore! I don't know why anyone would bother to watch them to be honest!

Visit My Forum another bad reference here
tt3 replied to itsmyard's topic in Websites and Web Designing
You shouldn't enforce the restriction that forces new users to register before they can visit your boards. Before people sign up to new forums, they like to look around to see if the messages there interest them. Unless you're running a secret board, (which you're not as you're advertising it here) you shouldn't need to do that. -
Also, as well as just giving an opinion, expand on it, so for example:Instead of - I like Norton AntivirusSay - I like Norton anti-virus because of its ease of use, and high detection rates. Also, use the new posts button to check for threads that haven't been responded to. Often I am frustrated when seeing a thread and thinking "i can reply to this" and finding that 6 other people have said what I was about to say, but in different words. Suppose great minds think alike! And if you're really stuck, start new threads without stepping into the spam region. (On Xisto, spam is loosely defined so watch out!)Good Luck, and welcome to the forums!

Warez isn't allowed on here, anyway, Cubase will slowly start crashing more and more often, untill it's unusable. For $300, they're gonna make sure no-one pirates it!

It's a shame there aren't more teachers like yours in the school, but I'm truely shocked that you can't use pen drives. Over the past few years, the pen drive has been the most useful tool in our school! Our cd's are blocked as well, but we're allowed USB sticks at least. Then again, it's not surprising considering our school sells them.

I've been using McAfee's anti-virus since Version 4.3 came preinstalled on my Windows 98 machine. It's very reliable, and more importantly, does what I want it to do.

Do we really need web accelerators?? Really? I don't think that with broadband speeds ever increasing, there will be a market for them.

In the United Kingdom, you can be arrested for racism, but the crime isn't called that. You can be convicted for racially aggravated assault or racially aggravated abuse. These often carry higher sentences than regular assault and abuse.

Just the other day on my old pc, I replaced Windows ME with Suse Linux. As I don't play games, and mainly use the computer for web browsing and listening to music, as well as writing the odd document, I had no problems with switching. It's far more stable, than my Windows ME OS, which just crashed everything! Another good feature, which was partially done in MS Windows, but not implemented, was that to make any system changes, you have to log on as the root user, meaning that unauthorised users can't do as much damage.

Well, seeing as on the site it says that everything is randomised, I wouldn't bother using that for dating advice. Why would you let a computer decide how well you would go with someone else?

I think that the BBC has the best website out of all the television networks in the world, and a programme produced by them I think merits discussion is called Click. You can watch the programme online, where they look into the latest technology. What I like about this show, is that it's not aimed at complete novices. They will talk about Vista and they had a show completely centering around CeBit a few weeks ago. Just thought I'd enlighten those of you who haven't come across this show before. I'm not completely sure if this is in the right place, I didn't know whether to place it here or in the tech or lifetalk section.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is just scaremongering. I find it highly unlikely that Microsoft will be able to control what software is run on your computer, and that only signed ones are ran. The article I think is rather misleading, as it lists all of the things that may be possible with this technology, but will never happen in reality. If I wrote an article saying that the we should stop connecting to the internet, because Microsoft is able to download a piece of software to users computers that will corrrupt every file on our hardrives through the Windows Update system, I'd be ridiculed!

Oh please, you were hoping to find cyberlove! Yeah, I could kind of tell that you did know it was a joke. It would have been really funny if someone actually fell for it!

There are two points here. One of them being that the admin feel it's okay to use profanity, but it's not okay for forum members to. I can understand why swearing is banned on a public forum, and I'm sure most of us don't have a problem with that. It seems weird though, that in spite of the censorship, there's a swear on the front page. The second point is why the management decided to use that word in the first place. And even if OpaQue decided to call it "trapped in faeces", I'd still be complaining as that's disgusting! The only real option is to replace that phrase with another one, and whilst I understand that OpaQue can do whatever he likes, I'm sure that he values our input, and from what I've been reading. It's a resounding no to "trapped in ****".

Your parents clearly care about you and want you to succeed, but like many other parents, they're pushy. You need to sit with them and tell them that you are trying, but them placing pressure on you doesn't help. A good way to argue is to tell them that you understand their point of view and can appreciate their concerns, but then get your point across.
-
Your argument doesn't stand up, because yes, there may be more important issues, but that doesn't mean the little ones dont matter. There are terrorists plotting to blow us and our families to smithereens, but that mean we should just forget about the muggings that occur everyday on our streets? Should the police forces tell victims of crime, that because in other places, there are people who have lost loved ones to violence, that their stolen phone doesn't matter? The issue here is not just about "the children." It is also about the image of this site. I would have thought that the admins would have wanted to bring about a professional image, one which wont be achieved by putting profanities in forum categories. Having a section called "trapped in ****" just shows us as a bunch of ignorami, who don't give a damn.

That was one of the most interesting posts I've read in a long time. And I agree with almost all of it! I don't like the way Americans drop "u", and I don't like the way they spell some words that should begin with "ph" with an "f." I don't know why that winds me up, but it does. As for your rant about rock music and busted, I'm glad someone else hates them as well! They weren't orginal, and in music I hate artists who just copy other artists and come up with generic pop/rock. Busted have fortunately disbanded, however McFly, busted's carbon copy have sprung up onto the scene.
