  1. hi,I too would suggest Mambo. It is the best out there among the free CMS(content management systems). Lots of plugins available and easier to configure than most others. I have been using it for over a year now an have also tried phpnuke and postnuke but would choose Mambo anyday over the other two.btw Joomla is not the same as Mambo. On its site it states that it is developed by the same team that developed Mambo.yeah, if it would be available on fantastico or someway on the cpanel, I would love to try it out. My connection is a little slow for downloading and uploading it using ftp.Cheers.

    Notice from serverph:
merged 2 posts as per author's request.

  2. yeah, I too am curious to try out the new Yahoo Beta.. but it is not available to everyone. Moreover even if you want to register as an interested beta tester, you need to have a "yahoo.com" email address. So guess, I have to wait till a wider release is available or beta testing is available for other yahoo mail domains.Till then, if nyone of u get to test the beta, please do post here a few screenshots and also more importantly about all the new features there are available.Cheers.

  4. hi friends,

Yahoo is supposedly testing its new interface for Yahoo Mail. It looks more like MS Outlook with the folders etc in a left pane, the mail box on the top half of the right and preview on the bottom.

Also a tabbed view if multiple mails are open. Just like Lotus Notes for those who have used it.

    https://www.engadget.com/

The Email wars are heating up and the end users are getting newer and better features. Finally something is happening in the Email world since Gmail coz otherwise the thing was stuck up with MSN and Yahoo and no major improvement or competition since a long time.

Yahoo has form for those interested in joining the beta test(not sure when they would be able to), but this would add u as an interested beta tester.

    Cheers.

  5. yeah, a sports section is a good idea... but instead of having very specific sub forums.. but divisions something like... CricketTennisFootball/SoccerBasketballBaseballAthleticsMiscellaneouswould be nice. I am sure there are a number of sports enthusiasts in the community and would be following one sport or the other. A healthy discussion would be a good idea..what say admins??Cheers.

  6. Actually Baseportal is a online database provider with user control. It has a few nice tags to manipulate the database and to retrive and loop thru the result for display. You can actually have some dynamic data and the page there and make a link from ur site to there. or whatever. It would be very useful for those hosting on geocities coz.. they do not provide any database. It is good it itself for small appln like address book, contact list etc...Cheers.

  7. hi,

Oracle acquires yet another company in its competition agains SAP. Some time back it took over Peoplesoft in a long bargained deal... Now it is Siebel systems.

Oracle to acquire Siebel Systems Michael Liedtke,  Associated Press
    September 13, 2005 ORACLE0913

SAN FRANCISCO -- Oracle Corp. is buying hobbled Siebel Systems Inc. for about $5.85 billion, eliminating another competitor in its campaign to grab market share from business applications software leader SAP AG.

In another high-tech merger on Monday, online auctioneer eBay Inc. agreed to pay at least $2.6 billion in cash and stock for Internet phone provider Skype Technologies SA.

Google the web and u will find many...........

In another deal, Auction major EBAY finalized the deal to take over Internet phone provider Skype Technologies.

  8. hi mayank,First of all, the one u posted has been circulating well...Let me point out that I am an Indian, live in India and am proud of it.On the other hand, I find the comparison absurd as you cannot compare a hurricane to heavy rainfall. what happend in Mumbai was very heavy and continuous rain whereas most of the damage in New Orleans was due to heavy gusty winds.Though I find the fact that there have not been violence in Mumbai very heartening. Kudos to Mumbai for facing it and hopefully people will learn from it and take better care of the city at least from now on.Just felt that we were comparing apples to oranges.Cheers.

  9. yeah, Congrats to the whole of Xisto, Opaque, the admins, the moderators and last but not the least all the members of the community. The effort put in by everyone has made this community prosper and here wishing it all the best for the future... I have been here for almost a year now and joined when there were about 1800 members... The quality here has made me and lot of other members come back for more unlike a few other communities where lot of spam and senseless moderation is the way...Way to go..Cheers.

  10. hi mendezgarcia, thanks for ur analysis and points. I myself have not worked much on Javascript. For one thing it may not just be password, but even Credit card information or n number of things.Agree that the hacker must know the website the password is for and the username, but I know a few of my friends who store all this login info ie., website, username and password in a file on their system(since they do not remember all the passwords). Anything might happen by accident. Favoring ur point:Yeah but the chances that a site might just keep on trying to guess are less than 1 in a million. Moreover IE is not the browser that everyone uses. I believe in being careful than regretting later... Since the solution of just switching off the option will not effect the browsing experince of the user in any way. Even if not as a security measure.. this info wud be useful just for awareness.Cheers.

  11. The image links posted by Masked are really nice and look cool...hmm... what wud Apple guys think of the look... maybe will get something like that in the future...As for the screen size it is the same as Ipod mini, only that now it is color and the thickness of the ipod is the one that has changed more than nything else...Cheers

  12. hi friends,Apple has released a new version of Ipod. Actually it replaces the Ipod mini in the ipod series. It is called the Ipod Nano.It is actually a slim ipod, 1.6 x 3.5 x .27 in size and weighs 1.5 ounces approx 43 grams. It includes a color display and capability to view images and slideshows...The battery life has also been extended.Chek out the detailed comparison chart at the apple website...Cheers.

  13. hi friends,

We all copy various data by using ctrl+c/Copy for pasting elsewhere.
This copied data is stored on clipboard and is accessible over the net by a combination of Javascripts and ASP.

    Just try this:
    1) Copy any text by ctrl+c
    2) Click the Link: http://www.friendlycanadian.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t
    3) You will see the text you copied on the Screen which was
    accessed by this web page.

    Moral:
Do not keep sensitive data (like passwords, creditcard numbers, PIN etc.) in the clipboard while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to extract the text stored in the clipboard to steal your sensitive information. If sufficient data is stored by mistake it would give away confidential and important information without you knowing about it.

    To Avoid This
To avoid this, follow these steps:

    1. Go to internet options->security

    2. Press custom level

    3. In the security settings, select disable under Allow paste operations via script.
Now the contents of your clipboard are safe.

Pass this information on to create an awareness of the same.

    Safe Browsing,
    Cheers.

  14. hi kvarnerexpress,Firstly If dynamic class reloading is not enabled, the whole server need not be restarted. Just the application that has been modified needs to be restarted. I suppose most of the providers switch off dynamic reloading as it adds some load on the server and since there may be multiple applications deployed on a single appln server, it wud amount to a lot of load.Cheers.

  15. If I understand properly, u do not wish the form to submit on "Enter".
To prevent this you can have a

     <form action="" onSubmit="func()">

The onsubmit event would fire on pressing enter, which would call the javascript function "func()". In this function u can do the processing and submit if u want or else just leave it.

    Cheers.

  16. The new personalized page improvements are cool.. They have added online bookmarks. There are a few feed already available to be put on the page. If we want some feed which is not available it can be added by adding an url in the "create a section". It already had Gmail, Quote of the Day and Word of the day, search history... etc...Google is getting better and better.. I am surprised how is it able to launch so many things so fast... google talk, gmail improvements, personalization, google desktop version 2 etc...Hats off to them...Cheers.
