If you are part of a network that is connected to multiple computers, then I would go for Professional. If you are not part of a network that is connected to multiple computers, then I would go for Professional. If you were given a life-or-death situation where you would either choose Home and get to live forever or choose Professional and die at 50, I would choose Professional. If you had $200, the cost of Home, where Professional cost about $400, and you were told to by an operating system, I'd say "I'll come back when I earn more money". Buy Professional. NEVER BUY HOME! Home Edition is a stripped-down, slow running version of Professional. Better yet. Buy Media Center Edition. It's like a Professional Professional... It has everything that Professional has, and Media Center, which lets you record live tv, organize video, audio, pictures, and play and record dvds. I repeat: NEVER BUY HOME!

I have been using Picasa2 for almost a year now, and find that it is the greatest photo organizer that the world has ever seen. I believe that Google really found something there when they took over the Picasa Industry.

Web Browsers Safest Internet Web Browsers
mystmag replied to Antihack's topic in Security issues & Exploits
The main web browsers are currently Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, Opera, and Netscape. Personally, my favourite web browser is Firefox, however some sites do not display correctly in Firefox. I use another browser called Avant, which lets me view some site in Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1. Opera is currently gaining popularity because it is now free and does not have any more advertisements. The new Netscape isn't exactly the greatest Netscape ever...what happened to Netscape Composer? or Email? -
Personally, I believe that both Adobe and Macromedia are good companies and have produced products that people use in their daily lives. Adobe provides state-of-the-art "Adobe Photoshop CS2" and "Adobe Professional 7" allowing people to make PDFs and PDF Forms for email and such. There "Illustrator" is better than Macromedia's FreeHand MXa, yes, but Fireworks throbs Illustrator. Adution may be an audio tool, however Captivate allows people to create audio and video performances. Now with Macromedia. Macromedia has Flash Professional 8, the highest-quality flash maker in the history of forever. Dreamweaver provides great HTML and other coding software, such as Microsoft Office's FrontPage. However, Dreamweaver can have imports easily from both Macromedia Flash Professional 8, and Macromedia Fireworks 8. Macromedia FreeHand MXa is not their greatest program, and I personally would use Paint (just kidding, just kidding...XD) Perosnally, Macromedia has shone brighter in my eyes than Adobe, but now that Macromedia and Adobe have joined together to form one great big Adobe, I guess I really don't have a choice, there...

XHTML is something that I hate using, however it's growing to become more popular than HTML...all tags must be lowercase, you must end all tags, even breaks. In short, learn HTML before you learn XHTML.

I have heard all this commotion about Microsoft's XBOX 360, or Sony's PlayStation 3, however I haven't heard ANY commotion about Nintendo's Revolution. The only thing that I have heard is that it's going to have a revolutionary new form of controller that only one hand uses unless you have a joystick plugged in. I am really skeptical on how that would actually end up working...I have been customed to the two-hand controllers...Mind you that I am not planning on purchasing the Nintendo Revolution under any circumstances, however I really think that it would not be an asset to any family room or gaming room. Honestly, my perspective on the Nintendo Revolution is not highly whatsoever, so I believe that the sales of the Nintendo Revolution will not be as high as other gaming systems that Nintendo released, such as the NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube, or Nintendo DS. Out of all of Nintendo's line-up, I believe that the Nintendo DS with Wi-Fi Connection is the greatest deal. But why would they go and do a drastic move like make a controller for the newest gaming system for the next generation that is only used by one hand? Many people now know that when someone says "stop playing video games", they are referring to the gaming systems where two hands access all controls, such as the controller for the Nintendo GameCube. People thought that the Nintendo GameCube controller was revolutionary, because of the new layout of the keys. Can I have your views on the Nintendo Revolution?StephenP.S. Sorry, Nintendo, for being so strong against the Revolution! Don't Sue! XD

Yahoo Mail Beta New Look for Yahoo Mail
mystmag replied to cse-icons's topic in Science and Technology
I personally use Yahoo Mail as my primary mail provider. Yahoo provides tons of storage and it presents its information in a friendlier user interface (UI) than other providers such as Hotmail or Gmail. However, this is just my opinion. Stephen -
Which web browser do you use? Personally, I use Firefox 1.5. Firefox is from a trusted provider, Mozilla. For more information on Mozilla, and if you want to download Firefox for your own computer, visit either Mozilla.com or Mozilla.org. If you do not want to remember Mozilla, you can visit their newly-obtained domain, firefox.com. You?Stephen

Well, if you are looking for a great search engine that has encounted world-wide fame and basically trillions of web sites on their humongous database with basically millions of other programs such as Picasa or KeyHole, then yes, Google is the best search engine that you will ever fine in the history of ever. Ask Jeeves isn't the greatest search engine, and Ask Jeeves: Kids is just terrible... When I was writing this, instead of Ask Jeeves, I almost said Ask Google! Um... *Cough* *Cough* Stephen

I recently got The Sims 2 for my computer, and I began playing it, however I quickly came to realize one thing...what's the point?Honestly, EA Games is making millions of dollars each year selling The Sims, and now what? The Sims became old and rusty! Now there's a Sims 2! What's next?I just can't wait until The Sims 3 comes out *sarcastic*, can't you? *wink* *wink*But still, with the expansion packs, it's a good game...8.5/10How would you rate The Sims 2?Stephen

Wow...obviously people these days have $400 dollars to just throw up into the air and rip apart, slowly...surely...for what...maybe 10, 15 seconds of enjoyment? People at Microsoft worked so hard on making each XBOX 360 perfect, and you go and destroy it? Why? Wait a minute... What am I saying? GO GET ANOTHER ONE!

Google Desktop Search A Possible Spyware? Spyware????????????
mystmag replied to solankyno1's topic in Software
Google Desktop has spyware in some install packages. I have had spyware on one computer when I installed Google Desktop, however after using Webroot Spy Sweeper, I got rid of all spyware. Webroot Spy Sweeper is, if not, the best spyware deletion and scanning program on the market to date. The new version 4.5 allows users to be updated for new programs and security threats 24/7/365, and all for a low price of $20.00 to $30.00 at Target and other retailers across the United States of America, or at Staples Business Depot or Wal-Mart or Zellers in Canada. If you have a computer with no spyware protection, get Webroot Spy Sweeper...Stop spyware from watching your online activities and crippling your PC performance. Here's how Webroot Spy Sweeper protects you from spyware: Powerful Spyware Dection that scans your computer and updates the program from the spyware database. Proactive Protection with Active Shields, browsing/operating system shields protect your PC from hijackers, unauthorized Favorites folder additions, and redirected web searches, and the program prohibits spies from running in memory, or running unauthorized programs, or adding files to the startup folder. Frequent definitions updates, safe quarantine and removal of spyware, anti-virus compatibility, and a simple, easy-to-use user interface (UI) that removes all that spyware that causes your computer to have pervasive pop-up ads, reduced PC performance, a reset homepage, a sluggish internet connection, and redirected web search results. Spyware invades your PC when you download programs without understanding the End User License Agreement, open an email or attachment from an unknown sender, share music, video or pictures with other users, or visit unsafe web sites.Webroot Spy Sweeper...rated 5 Cows by Tucows!, the PC Magazine Editor's Choice, WUGNET (Windows Users Group Network), the "Top 10 Reviews" GOLD Award, and cNet's Download.com Top Rated 5!Webroot Spy Sweeper...$20 can save your computer for a whole year!Stephen -
cPanel is the Control Panel used by Xisto.com for all database users to use when editing their own website, either a subdomain or a domain transfer, with hosting as if it was paid, but all that you have to do is keep active on the forums.Stephen

Um, 2.0 GHz isn';t the greatest computer, and you spend 3000 on it? Wow! Where did you get it from? I got mine for that price and I got a better turnout in EACH CATEGORY! Well, it's okay...let's see... It's AMD...either you like AMD better than Intel, or you just didn't know...personally I like Intel more, because mine has a dual core chip, but if you like AMD, that's your decision. 300 GB HD is good. It's actually great...same like mine. ATX is a good video card. 8 MB Cache, great. But you have a floppy disk drive? That's dying technology! I don't have the need for one on mine. CD/DVD RW, good. Can it write Dual Layers? Good mouse, monitor, and speaker system. If you truly like your computer, it's your choice...the only thing that I wouldn't like is the fact that your computer is AMD. But if you like AMD Athlon computers, be my guest. XD Stephen

Ps3 Is Expected To Be Released Late.. is it good or bad?
mystmag replied to Sympatico's topic in Computer Gaming
The PS3 is going to cost TONS of money! It's going to have a Dual-Core Chip, which alone costs about $1000.00! However, its graphics are going to be eons better than the XBOX 360...however I believe that not many people will end up purchasing the PS3...The PS3 is actually going to be released on the same day as Halo 3...a big mistake from Sony! People who are into gaming are going to see the PS3 and Halo 3, and purchase Halo 3 instead because of cost and gaming system...just their decisions, though.I am planning on purchasing the PlayStation 3 for myself as soon as the pre-order becomes available in my area...who else is? Just curious!Stephen -
And no, Microsoft Windows Vista will NOT take up 32 GB of storage XD OR 1.4 GB RAM! However, its system specs are very high! It will take I believe 5 Gigabytes of storage, and it is recommended that you have 1 GB of RAM, however at least 512 MB...Finally, you need a STATE-OF-THE-ART GRAPHICS CARD (Preferrably from ATI, the Radeon Series, you will need I believe anything 7000 or above, preferrably X300 (the best!)) to run as fast as possible.Stephen

I am currently testing Microsoft Vista Beta 1 on my home computer, and it seems to be the best operating system that Microsoft has to offer in a long time...Microsoft Windows Vista allows people to share, connect and collaborate with each other, built on Windows XP User Interface (UI), but Windows 2000 Professional Operating System (OS). If there is one improvement for me to make to Microsoft regarding Microsoft Windows Vista, it would be for them not to password protect every single darn thing in Vista! For heavens sake, even the TIME IS PASSWORD PROTECTED! It drives me crazy! Even if you are logged in as an administrator, you STILL CANNOT EDIT THE DARN TIME!The new theme is perfect! The wallpaper with the grass, which my beta did not come with ( ) so I had to download from Google Images is not the greatest, because it gives you a sense of claustrophobia... The new welcome screen is okay I guess, but at least it has a clock on it, which Microsoft Windows eXPerience did not let it's users eXPerience...XDI just cannot wait until Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 2 comes out, because it will have sidebar capabilities! At least it's better than the Longhorn M3 or M6 Build! That one was SCARY!Did you know that Microsoft Windows Vista will ship in 9 different editions? Visit Wikipedia for more information and search up Windows Vista...Stephen

The reputation that Intel presents is amazing...Their Pentium Line-up is the most powerful ever...having recently purchased a new computer, my computer comes with an Intel Pentium D Processor with 3.2 Gigahertz Processor and 1.5 Gigabytes of memory and 300 Gigabytes of storage...but of course, this computer wasn't cheap! AMD is of a cheaper, more family-friendly group, allowing people with poor income to purchase. Not to say that AMD is worse than Intel, they get just as much money as Intel, but they sell more chips. Their chips are less quality, so it doesn't cost so much to make, reproduce and manufacture them. But, that's just my view on Intel and AMD... Stephen

What is the longest word in the english language? I tried searching it up on Wikipedia, and they found: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, 45 letters, which is a lung disease caught from inhaling volcanic dust, but Guiness World Records denies that it exists. They believe that the longest word in the english language is supercalifradgelisticexpialadocious, 35 letters.Any suggestions? Does anyone know the REAL longest word in the ENGLISH language? NOT THE WORLD?Stephen XD

Email Clients Which One Do You Trust For Security?
mystmag replied to Anndi's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I personally am not extremely suspicious when it comes to email security, but I definetley do not use Microsoft's Outlook Express. Outlook Express has constant bugs, and although Microsoft Update constantly updates Microsoft's Outlook Express, it is not a good email client. So when I first went on a hunt for an email client, I instantly thought, Mozilla's Thunderbird! After downloading it and adding accounts and everything, I could receive mail, however I could only send mail once in a blue moon. It would work to send mail once every week or so, and the rest of the time it just failed on me...But why? It could SEND it sometimes? But it was a good email reader! Ha! ha! ha!So I decided to take a trip to Download.com...there they had lots of email clients, but they all sounded like they would not work... Too cheap? Maybe...But I was positive that I did not want an email client that displayed ads such as Opera...To this day, I did not find an email client that I could 100% totally rely on, so I am still using Mozilla Thunderbird, even though I despise it because I can't send emails from it...however luckily for me, my email provider is my Internet Service Provider, so I can access web mail for sending my messages, but Mozilla Thunderbird for viewing them...don't ask me why...it doesn't make much sense to me, either...:DHowever, I am not extremely suspicious when it comes to email security because my computer is protected from Symantec's Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus, the highest, top-of-the-line Firewall, Privacy Protection, Parental Controls, Ad Blocker, Spam Reducer, and AntiVirus Scanner and Protector with weekly checks over the entire system for any and all viruses and spyware programs, such as trojans and keyloggers, my worst enemies from experience...But, that's another story... :DStephen -
I have recently downloaded a VoIP free service (Voice over Internet Protocol, computer-to-computer chatting) called GloPhone (GloPhone, and find that it ROCKS! GloPhone gives you a free telephone number from the USA and allows you to call any other person using GloPhone by typing in their telephone number. Also, for a low cost, you can purchase a plan that allows your computer to send a call to any actual telephone in the USA or Canada. However, GloPhone is not the only VoIP Service Provider...I have seen a United-Kingdom-based VoIP provider known as Skype (http://download.cnet.com/windows/ and search up Skype) I am unaware of their web site, however I am sure that you can download Skype from cNet Download.com Does anyone else have a VoIP account, provider or telephone number? Skype does not give you a telephone number like GloPhone, they force you to add other people's email addresses who you know that use Skype Messenger to your "Contacts List", and then you can contact them whenever Skype Messenger notices that their IP Address comes online, or they sign onto Skype Messenger... If anyone else uses VoIP, can they please Private Message (PM) me their email address and VoIP Provider? I am aware that if one person uses GloPhone and another person uses Skype, they cannot interact with each other... Oh, and finally, another VoIP Service Provider can be Vonage, however even their cheapest plan, which allows you to contact a telephone anywhere in North America, I believe, costs money. There is no basic VoIP Plan with Vonage, allowing two computers to interact... Respond! I would appreciate more people on my contact list! GloPhone Fan, Stephen Notice from mayank: Edited topic title & description, please note that topic title & its description has to be good

Exactly. However I have seen some deals for a RAZR for only $100 or so on a 3-year term, but I'm not sure that Cingular gives them out for that cost... True, the only appeal to the RAZR is cosmetically. I want to return my RAZR and get some crappy Motorola phone from Cingular...it might not be as thin as the RAZR, but it works, and I'm happy with that XD Any other mobile phone users? What are your views on the Motorola RAZR? Stephen

Recently, I purchased a new computer that came with both a full version of Microsoft Works 8 including Microsoft Works Word Processor and Microsoft Works Spreadsheet, however I also received a 60-day free trial to Microsoft Office. I assume that Microsoft Office is the better word processor, however I have used both and find no difference. After searching on the internet to find the cost of the full version of Microsoft Office, I found approximately $200.00 for their cheapest version, Microsoft Office Standard Edition. However, I found prices ranging all the way up to $800 or $900 for their Microsoft Office Professional Edition. Can someone please tell me which edition I should purchase if I would like to continue with Microsoft Office and uninstall Microsoft Works?Or can someone please tell me the differences between Microsoft Office Standard Edition and Microsoft Office Standard Edition? Thanks in advance for all of your help! Please respond before my 60-day trial is depleted to 0 days remaining!StephenP.S. Can you please give me links (if possible) to other site's opinions?

I recently got a Motorola RAZR on the "Couples Plan" from Cingular Wireless for myself and my wife. Not to criticize Motorola or Cingular, but besides being the thinnest phone on the market, is the Motorola RAZR any good? Honestly, I do believe that it has a wonderful sleek design, and that the system and applications that it runs on is state-of-the-art, but I do not know if I would recommend it to any other person. If the RAZR excells in any category, it would be design, or applications. If there are any other Motorola RAZR users, can they please tell me their views on the Motorola RAZR? I heard that Motorola is coming out with a new phone, the Motorola PEBL, with an automatic opening system...will that be any good? Any opinions? And people looking to get a phone soon, are you considering purchasing the Motorola RAZR?The price of the RAZR is unbelievable...over $800.00! Any responses? Please respond ASAP! I don't want the return period to finish with no responses!Stephen
