    Hosting Credits

There are a lot of sites that offer you free web hosting. This one required a little more incentive and work to achieve your goal of attaining a free domain/site. Other sites, such as Freewebs.Com and Bravenet.Com, just let you create a free website.Roxr.Com, another free website hosting service, has a similar requesting process to that of here on Xisto, but they don't have a hosting credit system. I highly recommend both, though Xisto more somehow ... my friend has a site on Roxr and says it's doing great, but I myself would prefer something like Xisto ... I have no idea why.Best,Xuan.
  2. I've compiled a list of tutorial sites that I've visited. There are some for Paint Shop Pro and some for Photoshop and other programs. I highly recommend all of them. Best, Xuan. Notice from mayank: Please note that when you are giving a large list of links then make sure you have to add those links in the quotes.
  3. Wow, I can't believe I caused an update THIS big ... lol.Best,Xuan.
  4. The following quoted information is sourced from http://www.whatiscopyright.org/ and is thus recognised as copyright to that site. Going around in circles here ... Best,Xuan. PS: As stated in the disclaimer and referral, visit WhatIsCopyright.Org for more information.
  5. I use Paint Shop Pro for my graphic needs myself. Just drop me a PM, or look at the blending tutorial in the Tutorials area that I've just posted, and I can surely help you out!Best,Xuan.
  6. I just registered myself, but how exactly are they going to pay me?Best,Xuan.
  7. It's a bit farfetched to me ... this kind of thing has made me be more aware of the kind of things that are real versus the kind of things that aren't. Not to mention the fact that such a concept of earning THAT much money for FREE is impossibly iffy. It's a good thing that I didn't click on the link.Besides, my experience with GeoCities is not that good. In fact, it's terrible. It's far too basic and doesn't allow very much creativity for the webmaster or webmistress.Best,Xuan.
  8. Ah! I've been wondering about these. My friend Sha on a chatroom I log into frequently discusses fnords and just keeps making them up. Hmm ... now I can join in!But I suppose that fnords HAD to be made up by someone. And what a brilliantly imagination-gripping concept! Sha had almost a hundred of them posted one time, and I read through ALL of them wondering what a fnord was, seeing as it had so many faces! Gah!Thanks so much for posting. ;)Best,Xuan.

    Unfair

I agree with you, Jesse. I'm an Australian myself, and I'm not a very big fan of John Howard. Particularly of late, because of the Workplace laws and such.He has his good days and his bad days, I think. More like good years and bad years. I would personally like to see another person as Prime Minister of Australia, perhaps even a woman. (I'm a male, but strongly support women in terms of human equality.)Best,Xuan.

    Hurt

I agree with both of the repliers to this topic; I am a smart person myself, continually scoring top of the year, and occasionally top of the state, in examinations and quizes and other tests.People call me all sorts of things, like nerd, geek, weirdo, freak. These things can upset me or not upset me. It merely depends on the situation at hand.Best,Xuan.
  11. I hate such people who don't use proper English myself; I'm a real stickler for it, and I annoy people with my extensively large volcabulary and ability to produce complicated synonyms for simple words.I suppose that people think that being on the Internet gives them a sort of excuse to be able to speak what many of the public call "NetSpeak". This language is an off-set of English, replacing properly spelled words with abbreviating letters and/or numbers. Even symbols are used. I mean, come on! How hard is it to write "you"? You'll only be typing TWO more letters in addition to the "u"! My God!I am a student (high school), and I'm top of the state in English. I live in Australia, let us just clarify that first. I NEVER use NetSpeak on the Internet, I use words and phrases and other aspects of language fully, so that people can understand what I'm saying. For example, when people say "C u 2moz". That is feasibly understandable, but some people have no idea what "2moz" means. How hard is it to write "See you tomorrow", it's not like NetSpeakers don't have the brain capacity to write that out fully. Perhaps they REALLY don't ...Best,Xuan.
  12. I agree. I had a Bravenet account and website when I started on the path towards having such a site, but I found that things were a bit complicated, and that webmasters/webmistresses weren't really allowed to exercise their creativity in terms of layout and skins, and also templates. Most of the templates that looked really good were only for those people willing to have a Premium account with Bravenet, which in turn wasn't free. So overall, I found it OK.Best,Xuan.
  13. Being a moderator myself (on other forums, of course), I find that sometimes moderating may be a bit of hard work to handle. However, on this site, I feel that the moderators do their jobs pretty well.Best,Xuan.
  14. Hey! Just thought that I would drop in a little tutorial on blending. I use PSP8 [Paint Shop Pro 8] for all my graphic needs, but I'm sure that it would convert to Photoshop really easily. Today, we'll make a banner. I'm an avid member of The Dark Arts, which is another graphics community. The standard banner size on there is 700 x 100 pixels. So, let's begin! Note: I've written this tutorial with the assumption that you have a reasonable knowledge of PSP and can navigate your way around well, as well as understand the terminology I'm using. If you don't just drop me a PM. 1. Open a new image, with dimensions 698 x 108, and a background of any colour, any colour you want. We'll add a border around it to make it 700 x 110, so don't worry about that. Click OK. 2. Pick a background image, and open it as a new image in your PSP program. If it's too big or too small for the width of the banner, resize this background image to a width of 720 pixels, and click OK. Then, copy your resized background image, and paste it as a new layer on your banner. Move it around until you like it, and then merge the layers by going to Layers > Merge > Merge All (Flatten). 3. I'm a Daniel-obsessed freak, so let's make this a Daniel Radcliffe banner. Get four pictures of him, and open them all as new images in your PSP program. If they're too big, resize them so that his face fits comfortably in the banner. 4. Now we'll blend and stuff. We need to feather the images, so in each image, get the Freehand Selection tool, and trace your way carefully around all the bits of Dan (*drool*) that you want in the banner. Then, in each image, feather the selection, by going to Selections > Modify > Feather. Make the Number of Pixels 10, and click OK. 5. Copy each feathered selection and paste them all as new layers on your banner. Move them around until you like them; ideally you should have two on each side. Then, merge the layers (see end of Step 2 for Merging instructions). 6. Increase the clarity of the banner, by going to Adjust > Brightness and Contrast > Clarify. Set the Strength of Effect or whatever it is to 5, and click OK. Then, colourise (for all the Americans, I know I spell it weird, but we Australians and British need power ...) the banner, by going to Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize. Make the Hue whatever you want, but keep the Saturation below 77. Click OK. 7. Copy the banner, and then go to Edit > Undo Colorize. Paste the copied thing as a new layer on your banner, and lower its Opacity slider down to about 70 or 72 at the maximum. Merge the layers (see end of Step 2 for Merging instructions). 8. Duplicate the layers, and apply a Gaussian blur to the new top layer by going to Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Set the Radius to 5.60 at the maximum, and lower the blurred layer's Opacity slider down to the maximum of 28. Merge the layers (see end of Step 2 for Merging instructions). 9. Choose the Flood Fill tool, lower its Opacity to a maximum of 35, and choose a gradient. Flood fill the banner with this gradient. If it's too strong or too weak, adjust the Flood Fill tool's Opacity. 10. On new raster layers add some text, in a colour that stands out against the banner but still suits the design, and then merge the layers one last time (see end of Step 2 for Merging instructions). Then, add a black one-pixel border by going to Image > Add Borders. Tada! A cooooool blending technique that you can use whenever you want. And in ten EASY steps. Best, Xuan.
  15. I use Paint Shop Pro 8 and Paint Shop Pro 9 myself, and they serve my graphic needs really well. I mostly create fan fiction banners for Harry Potter Fan Fiction and Fiction Central via this site, The Dark Arts. The Dark Arts is a graphics community which make forum graphics, fan fiction banners, etc. I'm getting Adobe Photoshop CS for Christmas [which I can't wait for, yay!], and then I'll be using both. I find PSP easier now, but friends of mine who use Photoshop say that it's easy to use. Let's wait and see ... I use all kinds of blending methods for my work, like masks and freehand selection. Plus the good ol' brushes and gradients and flood fills help too. What about you guys? Best, Xuan.
  16. I myself used to use Hotmail, but now I merely use my MSN address for logging on to MSN Messenger; in addition, I've tried Yahoo! and Excite, both of which are only moderately helpful in emailing. Now, I use Gmail, which is really helpful. And I also love the amount of storage that you get with your account. My friend initially invited me to Gmail, and since then I've had the same account. There's a whole bunch of other services/providers that I've used, among which are inbox.com, worldemail, email.com, mail.com, and others.Best,Xuan.
  17. This is a very beautiful and deep poem, congratulations! The even numbers of stanzaic lines that you have is good, and each stanza carefully but surely expresses its underlying connotations. You also did very well by putting in questions, which involve the reader on a more personal and in-depth level.I think [correct me if I'm wrong] that you are telling a story of some kind. Of course, that could only be my mind going weird ...You also used rhyme, that's one of my true favourite word schemes of poetry, I use it all the time myself. Your description is excellent, and I love the synonyms and phrases, and also sentence structure, that you use throughout the poem. I see very, very little in this work that I would correct, except for the occasional bit of punctuation.Congratulations on a great poem! ;)Best,Xuan.
