hey!phpizabi is great, but joomla can be better too. there's a component called Community builder that can do the same, and the enhanced version can do even better (like friendster). Since its part of joomla you can enjoy its power while extending it like phpizabi.

What Would You Do If There Was No Internet? hmm...
haxored replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
Without the internet i maybe sitting in front of my computer thinking about how to connect everyone in the world which is the Internet.I'm not going to have my own internet cafe since I earned it by designing websites and programming stuffs.I will not be able to post anything on this forum. Xisto will just be a dream.I'll never learn PHP, MySQL, APACHE, WAMP and everything related to the internet.ATMs won't be interconnected, and let's be happy with snail mails! -
I was asking the same question to myself 3 years ago. There's a better free way to have email@yourdomain.com but you have to consider some points.Do you want the public to be able to sign-up on your mail service? e.g. Yahoo, Google?Does your domain registrant allowed you to change your MX Records? This thing is very important since the MX decides where to forward the emails of each users to their respective inboxes on a certain mail server. If so, http://www.everyone.net/ is the answer to all this. Its a free service with a bit of ad on each inbox (yahoo does have ads). You can let users sign-up for free and get their own email@yourdomain.com! They also have a decent control panel to control your users and other settings. They have built-in spamguard and antivirus so you don't have to worry about it.So contact your domain registrant if you can change MX records.Signup to everyone.net and get instructions on how to setup your MX records.Login to your domain control panel and enter the MX setup everyone.net intructed you to do.

I would like to share my greatest love story ever. I met my girlfriend on the internet 6 years ago, that was 30th of August 2002. Most people in my city are indulged in this so called, IRC chats (since YM wasn't so famous back then). Me and my friends own a channel in a certain IRC server and that's where our lives are everyday, every free time. One morning (after a whole night of partying) before going to sleep and still sober, I visited our channel to have a bit of chat. My ex-girlfriend was there, we greeted each other "mahal, kumusta na? (Love, how are you?)" (the way we greet each other when we're still lovers). We havent seen each other for so long since she and her family migrated to US few months ago. Then one chatter PM'd me asking, "If I were your girlfriend, what would you call me?" and I replied, "I'll call you Baby". We became cyber lovers on that very moment (around 5 mins of talking). Since then we communicate thru chat, txt and call. After a month, we met personally, we kissed and hugged each other like we've seen each other before. We never knew how each of us looked, but maybe we felt true love so it didn't matter anymore. We we're students that time (2nd year in college), and we are 200miles apart. We've had alot of hardwork to make the relationship work. Alot of misunderstandings, quarrels and lapses. But we believed in each other, fought for our love and prayed for God's guidance. Today my girlfriend is already a Computer Engineer and I am a businessman and an IT professional. We still love each other, and we're currently building our own house. We planned to marry next year, hoping to have 4 kids and I hope everything will go as we have dreamed of. So who said long distance relationships don't work? Who said that cyber relationships falter? It really depends upon the people involved, if you work out on love, then maybe you'll find true love no matter the distance no matter the barrier.

Its illegal, immoral, against the will of God. Its not your life nor boday, you borrowed it from your creator so He's the only one who can get it from you (whichever way). You should not suicide! You just don't know your purpose in this world that's why you might resort to something like that. That's why we are in a community, open up yourself to anyone who could help you. Remember, there's always light at the end of the tunnel.

Skeptic View On Youtube -What is worth 1.6 billion
haxored replied to matak's topic in Science and Technology
I don't think there's a conspiracy behind the youtube - google deal. That 1.6B payoff wasn't enough for all of youtube's essence as a whole. The programming part doesn't matter now, imagine the community, the sympathy, the fans, the people who gained fame thru youtube, can you buy them for 1.6B? I don't think so. While google already started their own video streaming service, they'll be spending more just to attract viewers, spend more for programmers and even for the bandwidth. Buying youtube was the easiest way to do it, and take note, they're buying everything, the idea, code, the people, the fans and everything i mentioned earlier. So can those 2 guys pay the bandwidth for youtube? Thats not an impossible thing, have you forgotten myspace? People like them do stuffs, spend more, and wait. It's a passion. Now that wait is over. For without them, we'll not be talking about this here. -

Codec-Packs are not recommended, they screw up video editing programs and other media players. -
Now let's troubleshoot. Notes: Some drivers for Win98 doesn't work for WinXP (Some works thou). And when test printing, do not use Word Processors or other third party programs. Use the driver test print option to ensure that its not the program that is causing the problem. Things you've tested: 1) It prints locally. (Works well when you print on the PC where it is connected) 2) It prints thru network but only with Win98 clients. 3) It doesn't print from a WinXP client over the network. Facts: 1) Your printer is not defective since you can print. 2) The drivers were correctly installed since you can print. 3) Since you said that you tried printing from the WinXP client, that means you have installed a network printer and your network is working fine. (You cannot install a network printer if you cannot see the PC with the shared printer or if your network is broken) Possible workarounds: Try attaching the printer on the WinXP PC, then install the driver (the one that you used on the Win98 PC not the driver built-in on WinXP) and try printing locally on that PC. If you cannot print locally, it can be a driver issue. If you are installing a network printer on your WinXP client, it copies the shared printer's driver from the Win98 PC. That means the driver that will be installed on the WinXP PC might not be compatible, since it is a Win98 driver. Wait, try installing the driver that is built-in on WinXP (If not available grab a WinXP driver for your printer http://www.driverguide.com/), and try printing locally. If you can print then we are now sure that it's a driver issue. But if the built-in driver still doesn't work, now that's another story. Sometimes a corrupt OS might cause this, then a reinstall will be worth the try. P.S. I have the same printer and works well on XP, but haven't tested it on Win98.

Install Two Anti-virus Software In 1 System Is it ok?
haxored replied to Dragonfly's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Try GData AntiVirusKit 2005, it uses two engines, Kaspersky and BitDefender. It is also the fastest Antivirus based on reviews. Since kaspersky is has the best scanning engine and the most precise, then you'll have no worries. BitDefender is one of the best too.. but integrating them both made it the best shield. -

There was an IE bug since Mambo's early years about this. When you try logging in, you will be end up on the login page again. The IE bug is causing this (unless you are using Firefox), it is connected with your PC's clock. Try changing your TIMEZONE settings to your actual location. The bug will expire your session just after you pressed the submit button. We did have 2 solutions on this, either change your TIMEZONE settings or editing the file that holds the cookie settings and increase the value (mambo.php before it became joomla). Check also these: If this happens only on IE, and not on Firefox or Opera, then its the bug. If it happens on all browser, then try reuploading everything, a corrupt file might be the culprit.

This topic is pretty old, i'll just post my solution on this since noone posted the real information about this.In windows XP, you are being attacked by a worm from another PC on your network. It is exploiting an XP Service, shutting down your PC after 60 seconds. Microsoft knew about this and released a service pack to fix this. The geniune solution is to Install the Service packs for XP. Even if you are not infected by the worm, you can be attacked remotely and no anti virus program can detect that if you are not connected to the internet (Since new AV programs traps remote attacks).

Woah! I thought i'll never find a topic like this. I love robotics too, in fact i program AI for robotics and burn them on PIC's. Although im not into Lego, i hand craft them myself. https://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ This is my newest robotic arm. My old one is using aluminum body but looks uncool, so i tried using plastic (acrylic plastics used for signage). A lighter for bending the plastics, mini drill, sand papers to smoothen the edges and just a few more tools. I also used servo motors for movement, since they are very easy to connect on IC's then you'll have no problems. Programming the PIC's are no problem too. At first i was using Assembly Language but gave me a headache, then shifted to PICbasic but i wasn't satisfied so finally i found mikroBASIC by mikroelectronika which is far more better. Uses a structed programming scheme, unlike the linear basics. Search for Servos, PIC (Programmable ICs), PCBS, and PICbasic so you could start your robotics dream! Its easy, just a little passion.

In Linux, we a software called CROSSOVER OFFICE which will run almost any MS Based applications, Dreamweaver is not officially supported but runs flawlessly with a little tweaking on configuration. You can also Install MS Office (upto v2003) and use FRONTPAGE. Flash runs flawlessly too on Linux using Crossover Office.Thou its not free, its cheaper than windows, and doesn't break your dreamweaver license.

I'm glad that alot of people are trying linux nowadays. I myself is a linux users. I started 3 years ago when i tried running my own personal web, mail and shell server on a redhat shrike x86 platform. Today I was amazed of this new comer UBUNTU. This debian based distro was almost perfect, easier than windows, and better for gurus. Using the Gnome2 desktop, Ubuntu does not release softwares if it is not fully tested by the developers or if not yet considered as stable (thou you can get unstable ones thru unofficial repositories). What made Ubuntu more powerful is its APTITUDE (some distros have this too) program and better file repos. If you need a program e.g. xchat, just pop a terminal and issue: sudo apt-get install xchat <- and you're done! almost every stable software for linux (except commercial and with propriety issues) can be download and installed automatically using APT. For MS skeptics, there's a software called CrossOver Office which enables linux to run MS OFFICE (upto v2003), IE 6, Quicktime, Media Player and too many to mention. For Gamers, there's a software called CEDEGA, which somewhat emulates Directx API to enable linux to run 3D accelerated games like Warcraft III, Doom3, Battlefield, and hundreds of latest 3d hi end games. With Ubuntu Printers are also fully and widely supported, HP 3n1s, Epson 3n1s, and more newer hardwares. Webcam is also workable using the supported SPCA5xxx generic webcam driver. For Cafe Owners, we now have GYACH in linux, which is a Yahoo Messenger Clone which supports Webcam and Voice Chat, Emoticons, IMvironments etc. aMSN is also available as an MSN clone. OpenOffice 2 for linux is also almost like MS Office and cross compatible. Almost everything for Linux is free, try it! https://www.ubuntu.com/ https://www.codeweavers.com/ (CrossOver Office) not free https://www.transgaming.com/ (Cedega) not free [CVS version is free] http://www.phrozensmoke.com/projects/pyvoicechat/index.php (Gyach) http://www.amsn-project.net/ (aMSN)

There are quite a difference between home and xp pro, and one of them is the limit in which you can network them. XP Home is limited to upto 5 or you'll break the license agreement.

what is Content Management System What kind of CMS do you like?
haxored replied to franklinweb's topic in General Discussion
Hi im new here and wanna share my thoughts about CMS. Since my early years in web developing, i've used alot of CMS, PHP-Nuke, PostNuke, Mambo and now Joomla!. Mambo was one of the best CMS i've ever used. Since it is very much supported by millions of open-source community, it made Mambo best. Hacking Mambo components are easy too, just like the one that adds friendster like ability to the CMS. But for people that will organize 1 Million+ users, Mambo is not advisable. Its users' list is using a drop down menu in the administration, imagine 1Million drop down entries?
