A few more differences:-You can only use encryption in XP Pro-Many networking tools are disbaled in XP Home, like it can't be a server OS.-You can only install a [legal] copy of Home into a single computer, while Pro lets you install it up to three I think.-You can't install Microsoft's IIS or PWS in Home-WIndows SDK is only suported by Pro, though in my experience you can still install it on Home

Yes, definitely agree with that. No Windows version can ever compare to a Mac OS.Why do you think professional designers prefer it?
-
If you're referring to XP Home and XP Pro, there's a lot of difference. Price for example.
-
Close but not quite, as a trade off for its cheap price, PS Elements must have to do with fewer features and smaller number of support than a full-blown Photoshop. Photoshop 4 has even more features the PS Elements 2.0 If you're only into cursory image editing, then Elements is right for you. But I suggest you get PS-CS to expereince the whole thing.

I think you can try OpenOffice for Linux, an MS Office-compatible open-source software. You can download it from any freeware sites.

Let me emphasize, "3,000" is the number of registered users. A good many of them no longer post, or post very seldom. That forum have been running continously for almost 6 years I think so number isn't that surprising. I have yet to see a forum that exceeded the 10,000 mark. But even if a forum has only a hundred members, moderating is still a tough job. Ideally the moderator-to-member ratio should be 1:40, but here we have four plus admin so that makes the ratio 1:89, which is from a moderator's point of view, barely acceptable. For a forum that size, even if theoritical, it would require hundreds of moderators just to sift through all the post. Consider this, even if only a quarter of the members post each day that's still 4600 posts. Estimating that a Mod takes about a minute to read a post, that'll take 70 hours! Almost three days just to sift through a day's posts, and that assumes that you don't eat, sleep, or even pee. And remember people tend to post more than once a day. And Mods have to make up replys and warnings and other stuff that'll take time too. That's how tough being a Moderator can be.

A new OS a new operating system from microsoft ?
chinfo replied to psp-playstation's topic in Operating Systems
Ok, just an added info, there is a far-future version of Microsoft's OS called Blackcomb, in the works (According to PC World magazine). If ever you're wondering where on earth did they get those code names, Whistler (codename of XP), and Blackcomb are named after ski areas in British Columbia, Canada while Longhorn is name after a bar popular among Microsoft big guns. Just as the Longhorn Saloon & Grill sits between these two mountains, MS's Longhorn will ship between Whistler(XP) and Blackcomb. -
Here's one: You can other tests conducted by leading computer review firms, such as PC Magazine and see what they say.

HP and LOTR are excellent of course, but I usually would choose classics than modern novels which I find lacking in style and depth.
-
FOTR for me is the best, as it has to do most with Elves I love Elves (the Tolkien variety, that is) and their language as well.

I have, and i have used it in my html-based site. But I have little idea how to include the javascript within PHP, and the Adsense block for nuke is no longer available, or at least the links don't work.

FLAGGED FOR MODS' ATTENTION I'm sure the mods wouldn't be too happy with this thread. Right on the same section Hasa: There's a "Software for E-mail" topic, I believe your post falls under it. Erick: Try this http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

I don't see myself switching to Linux for the foreseeable future, as all my work are done using Mac and Windows. There are so few apps that run on Linux I don't see any practical value in it for me. Besides you have to learn the OS from scratch again and time is a very expensive commodity to invest in such an unpractical endeavor.

Ok, then its settled Well, each of the four forums I help moderate have members that ran into at least a thousand. The largest being a Star Trek-related forum with some 3000 registered members (although, of course, not all of them posts regularly which I should be thankful for ). The smallest is a boring "adult" forum my cousin runs that's sooo boring you'd be surprised why it got 1247 members and growing.Anyways out of topic...

Oh no, not again??!! I just bought max6 a couple of months ago -
FileZilla is my choice. I use Dreamweaver's built-in publishing client as well for quick uploads of a few files, especially with complex links and dependencies.

I am a moderator four times over, each of which a least three times as large as this forums is. And never was I flamed in the course of three years, because I take great care how I moderate. So if somebody doesn't put up with the way you handle things, you're going to gag him/her? That's totally Nazi if you ask me. There are limits of what we can put into words within this forum, yes, but no rule exist that we can't criticize anybody. Look, I'm not questioning templest or any other mod and his/their contribution and effort. I know how it feels. Even if I'm not a mod here, I try to help out in small ways coz I know how the system works. But the fact that you won't take criticsm just because of what you're doing, that's totally absurd. Even Admin take criticsm, even after all the things he provided.

Can't you use <target="_blank"> attribute?

Probably you have to change the permissions of your avatar directory. CH-MOD the whole avatar directory and files to 777 (if you're using FTP that's easy to do, if not you can do that through File Manager of the cPanel) or choose "write" "read" and "execute".

The "Edit" button has a purpose you know
-
Yep, you can Zip, but they're not official buttons. Ok, I'll do some further modifications but if you have something to show youself, please let us see. Personally, I'm going to use banner instead, there's only soooo much you can fit inside that kind of size.
-
Ok, here's the animated version of the buttons. I accidentally deleted the SWF version I was making. Oh well perhaps it wasn't meant to be

First, you have to know what your domain is for. If its a collection of personal info, then a domain after you're name wouldn't be too bad. If you have something to sell, then you can choose a general product or activity. The point is, it has to convey some idea about your site or has practical value for the potential users.

They have every right to criticize Its part of democracy, I believe.Anyways, Flash support PHP scripting within its own environment. ActionScript will only take you so far, that eventually you have to touch PHP when you want to take Flash into another level.
