  1. So, what kind of half life key do you have? There are lots of different kinds...bronze,silver,gold...retail boxed...etc...Can your accnt access CSS and DODS + the originals? Please answer because I know a friend who has a very old steam accnt, from the beta of 1.6, which should be very short, maybe I can convince him to let it go in exchange for a hl2 accnt.
  2. Ok, this isn't any get rich quick scheme or anything like that. It's time consuming at first, is not guaranteed, and there isn't all that much money that you wil be making. The website is gozing.com, I'm sure that most of you have heard of this. I know this site works because I've already been paid a couple times, including a couple back when they used to pay $4 a survey...thats not the case now.If you sign up, you will have to fill out a couple of profile forms so taht they can see which surveys would suit you best. Just remember that when you fill them out, try to think of what goZing and the advertisers are looking for. When they ask you certain things like what have you recently bought, or plan on buying, or own, make sure to check as many as you can. The more things that you are interested in, the more surveys you will have. The one bad thing about gozing is that there is usually only 1 survey per day, at least in my experience. However, you will almost always have this 1 guaranteed survey,(good). They payout rate for me is $1 per survey, I don't know why it decreased, but i guess they couldn't keep on affording to give everyone heaps of money.Another thing about the site is that sometimes the surveys have a filtering at the beginning, and if you don't match the criteria which they have, you won't be accepted to take the survey. Also, if you have someone in the family working in marketing, or advertising, or anything related to that field, either you shouldn't mention it when they ask you, or don't use the program, because they will almost certainly reject you everytime.Okay, so there are some things about gozing that could be better, but where it truly shines is in the way you are paid:You can choose to either recieve your cash by:1. Paypal - self-explanatory. In my opinion, the best choice, because it is the equivilent of real cash, and you get just as much as in the other two options.2. Napster - you will get 1 song download codes, I personally wouldn't do this3. Buy.com certificates - If you shop online a lot for electronics, this could be useful, but still I think that Paypal is the best because it is basically cash, and you can use it at any retailer you like, or even cash it in for real money. And lastly, you can refer friends, for a small percentage of their earnings. One of my motiviations for writing this. So, overall, I highly suggest this to you if you are looking to make a few extra bucks a month. If you could put me down as a referral, if you choose to sign up that would be great,my screenname is:bddoan12Thanks for reading, and hope this helps you to some extra bucks.
  3. So anyways...Thanksgiving sales coming up soon and everything so I decided that I should buy an LCD to save my eyes from this horrible 8 year old CRT. First off, there are a couple monitors that I have been looking at for a while, mostly with low latency, and good overall ratings in features, backlighting, uniformity, color accuracy...everything like that.1. Dell 2005fpw Dell Widescreen godliness + Anandtech + many others say that this uses the same exact lg phillips panel as the Apple Cinema Display Massive +2. Samsung 940b - Typical stuff, nothing real fancy, but its pretty reasonably priced too3. Viewsonic Vx924 - 4ms response time - but only 19''. I dunno what to get please help.If any of you have any of these monitors or one that you highly recommend for playing games and watching movies with, please respond
  4. I have the best glitch ever - for when you are getting really low on ammo, it might be illegal though, + takes some getting used to plus a decent abmout of timing. Basically, you get an any automatic weapon, or even shotties. You switch to the knife and hold down the mouse button, while you are continuously knifing, you switch back to your normal gun using quickswitch button, q, but while you are doing this, you still keep your finger on left mouse button, then, you will see the animation of you taking out your gun, If you wait, it will shoot. The trick is to switch back to the knife before the complete animation is done, if you do this right you will have unlimited ammo, but at the cost of having to do thsi everytime that you wanna shoot someone, its a worst case scenario, when you have like 30 rounds or something at the beginnning of the round because you autobuyed...and end up having no money for bullets. The gun that I would suggest using this with the msot is the shottie - pump, because if you master this technique, or get a script to master it for you...then it shoots just as fast as if you were normally firing the gun, but this way you get unlimited ammo.
  5. I've been reading up a lot on the midrange graphics cards, and it seems that the best card you can possibly get for around $150 is either the 6800, or 6600gt. It really depends what you are going to use it for, and the resolution you usually play at.If you like to use antialising and antistropic filtering, go for the 6800 because it has more shaders/ pipelines ect. Some can also be unlocked in some cases, making perferm closer to that of a 6800gt. However, if you usually play on lower resolution settings, such as 1024x768, then you should probably go for the 6600gt with its faster gddr3 memory. I've also heard that these can be OC'd 10-15% to get about 5-10 more fps in most games.Either of tese should be fine for playing anygame that is out right now or any that will come out soon. Especially HL2 and source. Both of these cards should run near 100fps even with slight AA and filtering on. Plus theres a lot of sales and rebates going on at newegg and zzf, you can probably snag one of these for under $130 if you look hard enough.

In reply, I think that we are totally entitled to use the 2.whatever gigs that the give us now. We have signed up for an account and they have offered us that space from the beginning - who are they to say what we are to use it for?. Plus, its not like everyone is going to be gourging their accounts with 2 gigs of pictures. I'm not sure if you've tried it but I use it on a regular basis and it takes a really long time to upload, even on a good connection. It really is just a real convenience because people usually have to log into google through the site, then compose mail, then add the attachment. This turns all those steps into 1 click, drag and drop convenience. So really, I think this serves to save google's bandwidth, as most people only upload documents and things like that rather than 500Mb movie files.
  7. Recently, I've started to overclock my AMD 64 Venice. It's pretty sick. Went from a stock 2.0 Ghz to 2.7Ghz on stock cooling at low temps. Performance gain is amazing, went from a 43s 1M superpi calc, down to a 31s time. 3d marks also increased dramatically and games run much smoother, I would highly recommend. Best part is I'm doing this all on stock cooling
  8. So basically, I have an Abit av8 thats giving all sorts of trouble. Whenever I try to play any type of highly 3d game, it crashes after about 5 minutes. I've read about the htt issues, and have lowered the htt multiplier...still no result. I've updated bios, drivers, re-seated the card...everything. Still crashes sporadically on stock settings. I'm sure its not any other component of the computer. Has anyone else had this problem/have the same setup as I do? Please help, resetting multiple times a day when I am in the middle of something is really annoying!Well anyways, here are the specs:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mobo: Abit AV8Ram: G-skill pc 3200 spd @ 2.5-3-3-7 <<runs at thatCPU: AMD 64 3200+ Venice CoreVPU: ATI 9600XT 128MBSanta Cruz Sound Card450W Power Supply <Tested and I'm sure its not a pw issue. If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  9. I have dsl thats supposed to be rated at 1.5Mbps...I wish. I painfully wait for any dl over 20MB, because I always get about 20kbps.
  10. I don't think you should really put the blame on firefox, because there are also other programs that you can use with IE that do the same exact thing. And in addition, not everyone that has firefox has adblock. I wouldn't hesitate to say that it would be less than 5% of the total firefox users. This has very little effect and I don't see any major repurcussions for this. Firefox is also a great reliable, secure and fast browser that isn't weighed down like IE and thats the reason why everyone is making the switch...even GA s and schools are starting to shift over.
  11. IMO, movies based on games are usually pretty bad. Ex. Tomb Raider, Doom, Mortal Kombat... the list goes on and on. These usually have a plot so diluted and flawed that they completely take away from the movie. Usually the game is at least twice as good as the movie, even if it is Mortal Kombat. I hope Halo flops and they never try to make another movie based on a first person shooter again...wishful thinking...
  12. Hands down, I would say that the m4 is the best weapon in the game for a couple reasons:1. Good fire rate2. Good accuracy and controllable spray3. Not too expensive4. Has a silencer5. Looks pretty sweetHowever there are a couple things that the ak is better in:1. First shot from ak is usually right on the spot, but with m4, there is a little more deviation.2. Costs even less than m4Problems with ak that make it bad1. Spraying = 0 hits, even if u are 2 feet away from their chest, I've done this...many many times. I wonder how the bullet can possibly miss from point blank...maybe the bullets shoot out of the side of the gun?Even if you aren't spraying, the recoil is still much harder to control on the ak than the m4.2. Make really loud noise - very bad for when you are alone against a whole team
  13. I have to say that GTA: SA, was a mixed experience. At first, the game was pretty interesting, I found myself engaged in building my character's muscle, stamina etc. However, these don't take that long to build up and once they are up, there is nothing you really have to do to maintaint them...besides eat a burger and run around for a little bit. (You should be doing this anyway because of the missions). The missions don't really have any originallity, I feel like I keep playing the same missions over and over, just a name is changed here or there. The storyline is pretty comprehensive and keeps my attention, but there are certain points in the game where I wished I could just fastforward, one example of this is when you are taken into the country by the cops. This part of the game is one of the most boring. It is a transitional period from 1 city to another, you'll find yourself driving for 15-20 minutes just to get to a mission checkpoint, then you might accidently explode your car, or not take a picture of someones face, and end up having to do the mission all over again, including the extrememly monotonous driving, which is at least 10 times as worst the 2nd, 3rd, 4th...time around. That is my single largest complaint about this game - It might just be too big for its own good, and they could have compacted it and made everything much faster to get to, instead they add a lot of countryside, most of which is pointless in my opinion.
  14. I find Halo 1 and 2 to be extremely overrated for a couple reasons:1. It does't have a fast pace like most PC games due to its restriction of a joystick2. The gameplay is nothing new really, Its basically Unreal tournament toned down to be more of a tactical game than just fast paced melee mayhem3. Multiplayer on split screen isn't that great, even if you're on a 46'' tv, if you are playing with four friends, you're each getting about 16'' by 9'' of space on the screen = not fun.4. With a good team, you can control the vehicles and weapons and completely dominate the other team...also not fun.Theres a lot more little things that makes this game not as fun to play as a pc game such as Call of duty or BF2. These games have such astounding graphics and they have a true team foundation - esp. BF2 with the new commander system.
  15. I completely agree with last post^^^. This was one of the most entertaining games I've every played. The graphics were great at the time, but mainly the gameplay was amazing. It was a very immersive experience, going into the different systems, upgrading your ship and weapons, armor etc.. However, the online game lacked a purpose, I didn't really feel like it was worth playing. Usually there would be a couple extremely equipped people and then you were all left to go exploring throughout the server without any specific goal.
