  1. Problem with writing a book is first --- the time to do itthen -- how to get it in the right handsthen -- the cost to publish (some do it themselves)then -- the cost to distribute it then -- the cost to promote itby now your probably broke -----and so far you haven't even had anyone buy it ----the real way to get rich with a book is to get Oprah to like itthen "you've got it made in the shade" ha hagood luck
  2. I realize that the previous posta are over 2 years old. I was wondering if JohnNitro is still a member, and if he ever did get a new computer?By now it has all been resolved, I just wondered what was the end result.
  3. hi --- I know there are ghosts, because I saw one. My grandmother haunts the house I was born in. The people that lived in it saw her many times too, including visitors. She died when she was 86 years old, yet the age of the ghost is about 50 - 60. The house has been renovated over the years and a new room was added to the house. When she walks around the house she only goes into the rooms as they were when she was alive. A doorway was closed off, but she still walks thru it as though it is still there. I tried to speak to her, but she didn't acknowledge my presence at all.As far as the heaven/hell thing --- I heard this a while ago ---If there is no hell yet you live a good life you are okIf there is a hell and you live a good life you are okIf there is no hell and you live an evil life you are okIf there is a hell and you live an evil life you are in big trouble. Therefore living a good life you 50 % sure to do OKThen if you live an evil life -- you have a 75% of not being OKJust play the odds -------- where do you want to end up?
  4. Hi --- I have been using hotmail for years. Recently I opened a gmail account, the problem with this was that in hotmail I could setup folders and segregate the emails I wanted to have more control over. When I switched to gmail, the only way I could save emails was to archive them. Then I couldn't figure to get back to them when I wanted to. I finally gave up and cancelled my accounts. Now I have added an account in yahoo because my granddaughter used that as one of her emails. I haven't had it very long, but it seems to be working for us. I ahve my hotmail account as my personal account, and we put our business email on yahoo.good luck
  5. Hi -----I have been trying to get a web site for several days. I don't understand why it is taking so long --- I see that most users get approved or denied in a day or so. What am I doing wrong? I have more than 45 points. I have been making long posts. What else is there? Doveshire Designs (Jean)
  6. When I worked in an office, someone from each department had to go to ergonomic training. None of the men wanted anything to do with it, so I was sent. There were three main measurments that were to be done to everyone in the office.1 length of leg from knee to feet flat on floor. The height of the chair had to be set so that you could reach the floor with the foot flat and the legs straight. If the distance was too high the pressure in the calf would have to strech to get the toes on the floor. If it was too low, one would have a tendancy to cross your legs, and that would put pressure on the sides of the foot.2 the height of the arm rests in relation to the keyboard. the wrists were to be straight. If the keyboard was too high the wrists would be too sharp of an angle upward. and the wrist rest wouldn't work as it was supposed to. The same thing but in reverse if the keyboard was too low,the wrists would be at an awkward position If the keyboard is set right you should be able to rest your arms on the chair arms at a straight line to the keyboard.3 the setting of the back of the chair should be at a comfortable position that your back is not too slouched or too siff. A lumbar cushion was a way to make a desk chair comfortable. Most offices didn't buy chairs with lumbar adjustments because they didn't want to spend the money.Another real important issue was to get up and walk around for a few minutes -- get a cup of coffee, go the the printer or go to the bathroom. That is very important even at home --- don't have food to close to your chair. That will cause you to move and strenghthen your muscles.Hope this helps
  7. Oh give me a break!!!!!!All of the symptoms you listed could be caused by diabetes, obesity, heart desease and probably 100's of other illnesses. If you eat lots of sugar ---- you can die from that, If you eat aspartame ----- you say you can die from that.If you eat lots of fat, you can increase your cholestrol if your body can't break it down, and you can die from that.If someone suffers from depression they can die from that -----Take your pick ---You WILL die from something ----- that is a given. My mother watched what she ate, and then she died in 13 weeks from lung cancer. She worked for 30 years in a frabic related industry. The dyes and fabric dust she breathed for all of those years killed her.you live your life your way, and I will live mine my way. We will both die of something.
  8. Well I found that quiz a few years ago and I love it. I find it very accurate and very helpful. I was diagnoised with Borderline Personality Disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder a few years ago and well I didnt need anyone to explain to me what that meant because due to the helpful little paragraphs the quiz gives you i already knew what that meant. Most personality disorder quizzes just ask you at most 10 questions and then say you have blah disease. Doesn't seem at all accurate or informational. Where as this one is both. Disorder | RatingParanoid: Very HighSchizoid: ModerateSchizotypal: ModerateAntisocial: LowBorderline: Very HighHistrionic: ModerateNarcissistic: ModerateAvoidant: Very HighDependent: Very HighObsessive-Compulsive: High
  9. I realize that this was an old post, but I saw something on TV a few days ago. The scientific community has documented proof that over 30% of the polar ice caps had already been melted. The Polar bears are no longer able to find a continuous path from the south to the north of the ice they need to travel on to get from the summer areas to the winter areas they need to travel to.
  10. This is the kind of thing that the Format command would be perfect for. The best thing would be to just start over. It would also be another way to see how much more could be added for the second attempt to load up the rest of the spyware that wasn't able to be added the first time around. If a person was so crazy to add it in the first place, they might be crazy enough to do it all again. After all experience is a good teacher.Stupidity begets stupidity.
  11. I just can't believe that anyone in today's society would ever believe that they have ultimate control over any computer. With the internet being what it is, available to everyone in the world --- duh world wide web ------ it is never secure to anyone. Just listen to the large companies that report that hundreds and thousands of their clients or employees or any other groups of information has been hacked by someone -- in the world -- and has been used to steal that information to use in an unlawful way. Why would you believe that MS would let you know what it was doing to all of the contracts that is has with the agreements everyone has just 'agreed to' without reading every word ' and often without reading any words' just to get past that part of the enrollment process of whatever files you want to get toNo matter how much control we think we have --- there is always a way to get beyond that.
  12. Since I am a new member of this site, I am not sure what the ads would have looked like. Also since I am new, I need as little distractions as possible. I am trying to get used to the idea of a forum. I am "a senior citizen" who has been using computers since the 60's, but everything I was used to was a structured environment. The chat rooms and abstract messenging systems are new to me. I watch my grandchildren work on their computers and cell phones with a sense of amazement, and a desire to see things with their eyes. I even struggle with this reply. I know that I need to respond to these forums in order to get the credits I need to get a site up and running, but I never know what to say or do. Have mercy on an 'old soul'.
  13. Wow this is all so serious ----- I was just trying to get some help because I wanted to cancel my g-mail account anyway, so I thought that this was a good time to do it. All I wanted help with was -- "In Gmail how do I have access to the archived emails I have?'
  14. Hi --- I tried to respond to this and after I had written a lot it just went poof!!!!!!!!!So I guess I just have to start over ---------I used to program in COBOL. I actually started in 1964 with EAM's (Electronic Accounting Machines) and really hard-wired boards to make them work. The idea of an Operating System did reach the non Educational area until years later.I worked on a GE 400 an IBM 360 and a Honeywell 200 ------ all were 64 K YES K 1024 not megs.Even used punched cards with 80 colulms. Too bad "BIG BLUE" went with the 80 col Hollerith card instead of the 90 col one (Sperry-Rand I think). Would have been much easier on all of us today.Being a female, I had more than a 'glass' ceiling' I couldn't even go for some interviews becaue companies wouldn't consider women in the work force. I had the top grades ever of the school I went to but even that didn't help. When we were given jobs the salary was VERY LOW. And getting new jobs to increase salarys usually used percent raises. The young today have no idea of what it was like. What they do have and I lack is the confidence to try knew things. That is why I have a horrible time with chat rooms and forums. Thanks
  15. I use long passwords 12 to 16 characters. Also any letter that can be represented by a number such as an i can be a 1 or an e can be a 3 I replace the letter with the number. so for instance you could you the password cuddl3m0nst3r and add a number sequence at the end such as your fav number mixed with the month your mother was born. then it would end up being cuddl3m0nst3r702.
  16. I was usign avg for awhile and honestly I loved it then al the sudden my pc wouldnt accept it anymore so i switched over to the antivirus, antispyware firewall program that aol gives you when you sign up for a free email account. Currently I am using antivir and honestly Im just not happy with it. Im not sure that it does what I want it to do. So Im thinking of switching to avant
  17. Yes firefox has spell check now. I honestly prefer firefox over IE. Heck I hardly even remember what IE looks like.
  18. Now next time i watch happy feet Ill feel like Im watching it for the first time. I never considered all of that. Its a great movie and Ill defiantly have to watch it with subtitles and compare it to when i first saw it.
  19. Honestly I dont know which animal fact to find funnier...the one about the donkeys or the cows. Im just wondering how embarassed the families are of those who died by donkey. "Oh no its a donkey stampeed"
  20. I prefer myspace over any other options but whats your opinion...if you had to choose between myspace, myyearbook, facebook and friendster which would you choose as the best? The only nifty thing about myyearbook is the battles and the lunchmoney as ridiculous as it sounds. facebook has a rating system that seems pretty interesting but still in my opinion nothing can compare to the glory of myspace
  21. Im not sure if its been updated recently I honestly havent been on there in awhile but it still crosses my mind from time to time
  22. Homestar is hilarious I was introduced to it a few years ago and havent stop laughing at it since. I know what you mean about them rarely adding new content to it that can be stressful when your looking for a good laugh or two and have grown tired of looking at th e same stuff.
  23. I prefer myspace because of the different features and customizations. Livejournal used to play a big role in my life during my early years of high school. Both are really great its just that livejournal is well more of a journal whereas myspace is an online community. Complete with friends. pics, blogs, music, comments and bulletins. Livejournal has its limitations whereas myspace is never ending you can change it with your moods if you wish.
  24. Oh yes myspace is very addicting. Its a great way to reconnect with friends that you have lost touch with and make new friends that live in your area or around the world. Also I love blogging on it and putting up new pictures. Some people have suggested that I make a myspace for my jewelry business but Im not sure how I feel about it since there are a lot of older folks who are staunch anti-myspace people. my myspace is https://myspace.com/browser
  25. I used to have a xanga as well as a livejournal but then the addiction to them wore off and I discovered myspace. I prefer Myspace to both of the others and I prefer livejournal to xanga because I could go back on a certain day and read what i wrote even if it was say 3 yrs ago. lately I am using blogtv.com it is a cam blog website complete with chat abilities. I find it wonderful because people arent just reading your thoughts they can talk about them with you and it just works great.
