  1. Well, Used IE, Firefox and Opera and currently stick to Firefox. Why, later I'll explain.IE comes with Microsoft Windows and guess everyone used it at least once. I guess. IE 6 is pretty light and have enough features to just browse. When comes to IE 7, its quite heavy in the loading, but the speed for the site loading seems to be faster. (Correct me if I'm wrong)Later part when I get into web development, pages that I've developed in IE 7 can't display the same as what I've expected in IE 6. CSS problem. And of course totally go out of place in Firefox. (Don't know what is going on) Soon I've realized that CSS problem with IE and Firefox conflicts. Need to have a set of CSS for IE and Firefox. IE doesn't follow WC3 standards. :P When comes to putting google map on the site I've created for my project. It didn't work. Why? Apparently IE loads the page first, then the google map. So need special scripting to make it work. Whereby Firefox just work perfectly. It just takes me so much time to figure that out. Especially google map can't be tested on localhost. You need to upload to web hosting as there's some KEY required for that to work.So currently just stick to Firefox for surfing. Cool browser, add-ons and its faster than IE. You can do everything with just firefox. And I mean everything. But I've no choice as to still stick to IE for web development. Statistics shows that 80% of the population in my country still uses IE6. But anyway, just some stuff to share. :P Cheers

  2. I would rate it 9/10. Personally I use a lot of my time in email. 80% of my time will be there and the rest will be around. Didn't came across an email app as powerful as GMAIL. I'm loving it... Highly recommended. I guess most of us use Gmail and already long known about their features. Another reason for it to be 9/10, is because of its googletalk. Perfect sound quality and no laggy comparing with skype, msn ... etc. Tried quite a few and found this is the best. (If anyone found a better program, let me know)Other app about google, not tried so far. Abit on calendar. so here it is. Cheers

  3. Done registering an account with 789mb and found a very big PROBLEM. I can't run my php framework on this host. Which means I can't host my site. I guess its because of the safe mode is on. Layout is Ok.. but of course comparing, there are better ones out there with cpanel. Can only say that you can use this for FTP. Pretty fast and large in space. Hosting of large image will be good and use Xisto to host all your script. Link those images to here. That way, even getting a 20mb hosting with Xisto will be enough. another 2 cents worth..Cheers

  4. I've look through some links provided and many of them are gaming, fan site to personal and blogging. Anyone have some links to free professional website template. Will be creating my own web design if I'm ever get a hosting here. But still need some creative ideas. Not very good in it. :P

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ offers some really good design and they are close to professional. Will be appreciated if some other members could point out something similar to this. Thanks

P.S. Tried torrents and they cannot make it....

    Cheers

  5. Its not feasible to do the AUTO_INCREMENT by the database if some records got delete. It needs to be done manually, as all other members have mention. And if this procedure is not that important to maintain the seq of the numbers, then just use what the database does. Another point is that if you want to reset everything to start from 1, 2, .... etc again. By deleting all the records and insert new records again. The seq will be out. It will be last inserted. Eg. insert 1, 2, 3, 4delete 1, 2, 3, 4when you insert again. It will be 5, 6, 7, 8 and not 1, 2, 3, 4. So if you want to do it again starting from 1, use the ALTER function and alter the table. It will start all over again for the seq. Was trying to get it to start the seq of number again and took awhile to figure that out. So just share some points, in case someone is like me, figuring that out got hrs.Cheers

  6. Currently for SILKROAD, they have improved alot in gameplay, especially for the European Characters. Played it and quit since beginning of this year. But after the expansion of new characters, weapons, skills and maps. Might want to start all over again. Looks like a potential MMORPG. Worth a try if anyone looking for a free big scale MMORPG. By the way, previously the server was quite laggy. But currently there's 10+ to 20 servers. So if anyone is playing that game. Tell me whether its still as laggy. :P

  7. If you are going for quality, torrents. You can get lots of good stuff if you know where to search. Used it before but currently don't do download. Another site to recommend - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. This site link to all the other sub-site like eg. MININOVA. So for a portal, use torrentz.com.

Another p2p software is eMule. Easy to use. Just type in your keywords and there you go. The search results are out. Check it out.

    Cheers

  8. Anyone heard of Active Virus Shield by AOL. Its a free anti-virus software too and love it because of the scanning power. Found some Trojan that others virus scanning didn't, like Norton Enterprise version. website?

Anyway, I've heard that for the free version of AVAST, the scanning power is not as powerful compare to the paid version. Just like to clarify that as I'm thinking of changing current AVS as the loading is pretty heavy for my machine. :P

  9. I had a client that needed a small 5 page website on a budget and he wanted to easily be able to go in and change little things like the special of the month. Google has worked wonders for him. Is it the best webpage ever, no, but it does everything he needs and it was a great solution.

You mean your client uses http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or uses his own domain name? I thought googlepages.com only allows sub-domain? :P Please clarify because I've a domain name and my web-hosting is over soon. So want to find some alternatives. If googlepages.com able to use own domain name, I would consider.

  10. And on yet another side not, I don't watch anime, I read manga instead. Much much faster and I don't spend time complaining about any aspect of voice acting at all. And it's like the unwritten rule for books and movies: most animes adapted after the manga are worse than the original.

TOTOLLY AGREEDED.. Manga go too fast for Anime to catchup that they need to do some pre-loading of other stories, which is totally not a story. :P

  11. Thanks...really. It's this *BLEEP* attitude that justifies a slow runtime to Sun and Microsoft, and tells Microsoft that it's OK to make bloaty, slow, operating systems..."if it runs too slow, our customers will just upgrade their computers!". Good job doing a disservice to the entire computing world by propagating that attitude towards software development.

Hmm.. You can't deny the fact that computer will get faster by years. And Java improves a lot since it started. From EJB to now Structs, String Framework.. etc. Of course computers don't have to be upgraded if they are running on legacy applications. But anyway, isn't technology suppose to be on the move.

And if you are so unhappy with Microsoft, then don't use it (if you are not using it, then why are u commenting it).

  12. Is it that old? I thought zoo tycoon was in the windows xp era?...

No.. I can't be wrong. I played it and it was a few years back. Hmmm.. anyway didn't really played simulator or any other computer games anymore, now the heat is on MMORPG.. :P

Edited: it was Railway Tycoon that I've played. You are right. :P

  13. Hello,Well I've played CO(conquer online) for a while and I'm realy sick of it!! so what I wanted to know is if anyone can give me a recomendion on some good and free MMORPG (and not **** like gindis,DT etc)

    thx :P

I've a very very good game to recommend. SILKROAD Online. Nice graphics and game play has improved quite a bit. Especially for the quest, they have really put in a lot of improvement to it. Try it. Cheers

  14. I haven't played the zoo series but I assume I would like it well enough. I enjoy all those tycoon style games in short bursts, but I have never liked one near enough to say its the best game on earth :P None of them are deep enough for me, play a few times and you can get the hang of it and then basically the game loses its challenge, at least to me, and thus loses the fun factor.
Glad you enjoy it though and I may check it out some day, I actually have almost borrowed it before just never got around to it haha.

You should play the game. Its quite a nice game. Played Zoo Tycoon 1 and it was like quite a few years back. By the way, don't think that we still can play those game on current computer specs. The game will be fast forward.. If you know what I meant. :P

  16. Well, it depends what kind of software you want to create, for bigger and more serious applications for windows or for Linux or any other OS, I would use C++ with ASM there ant there, but if you plan to make your programs smaller and want to do it faster, when you can go with Java, even though I never liked it because it is slower and etc. Furthermore, knowing only a language such as C, C++ isn't all, for creating something you usually need to learn something more or of course you can always use the Console to get your input and output :P So it really depends what you want to do, knowing both Java and C++ won't hurt, all you need is practice, using Java you will have less headache, but.. :P

Java is slow, but will catch up when CPU processes gets faster. And by the way, are there still lots of people using C++? I've have a module that I need to choose between C# and Java. And I've some knowledge in Java. So which is between comparing C# and Java. Thanks
