  1. Dynamic IP is usually given for Dial Up connection, not for dedicated connection. And a dial up connection is usually slower. Maybe its speed is not enough for your own browsing needs, so it's not wise to run a public server on your computer that can be accessed from world through your dial up connection. It will only waste your time. Why don't you just host your website on a best quality free hosting Xisto.com ? You can use your bandwidth to do something else.
  2. I bought an electronic devices this morning. It is more like a PDA, has touch screen with its light pen, cellphone support with any type of card, 12 megapixels cameras on the front and on the back added with a cool flash light. I saw the hardware specification on the box, it also has 2GB memory, dual 64 bit processor 3 GHz, 2TB mini harddrive, 1GB graphic memory, 32bit sound, complete network support (wireless, mini RJ-45, bluetooth, infra red). On the left, there's a mini RJ-45, IRDA receiver, and 2 mini USB. On the right there are sound connector (speaker, mic, line in), and 1 mini video output (complete with additional converter jack accessories). The box says that I can watch tv and listen to radio, with special bundled software I will be able to record them too ! Bundled software : Operating System, Office, Multimedia Player and Recording, Phone Manager and Answering Machine, Internet Browser, Instant Messenger, Network Manager, Anti Virus, etc. If I want more applications, I can install them later. It is only $450, very cheap isn't it ? Now it's time to try it ! I turn it on, in less then a second, the screen appears and ready to use. I read the step by step guide on the manual book. First chapter is about how to function the devices to be a desktop computer. Get a USB hub, plug usb keyboard and mouse. The usb and mouse icons appear on the top of screen. Plug video converter jack and connect a monitor, monitor icon appears. Click Start - Settings - Mode - Desktop Mode. A common desktop view appears on the monitor and I can use it as a desktop computer. But there's a warning not to shutdown the computer. I try it anyway by pushing the on/off button, the screen goes blank and it says : Sorry, this is just a dream. Wake Up !
  3. China's economy has grown so fast. Look at this graph : Almost all economic aspects in china are increased. As you know and see, products from china are spreading the world, including my country. And many of them are home industries because China has the largest number of citizens in the world. But this rapid growth is not followed by quality control regulation. And more... China's black markets are also growing. And there's a joke about it : A : "Please, buy this handphone... the same functionality at the very low price" B : "Why is it so cheap ? Does it have any warranty ?" A : "I give you a week to test. If you don't like it, bring it here and I will replace" B : "After a week, any warranty ?" A : "No, it's from black market" B : "It must be from china..."
  4. I requested at Today, 01:13 AM and get approved at 02:54 AM.It's only 1 hour 41 minutes to get approved. Very fast !Thanks Xisto !
  5. I always get this error after a few hours using internet. I use dial up for internet connection. After clicking on of those options (OK/Cancel), the connection is not disconnected, but there will be no data transfer. If I let the warning, the connection will still run well for a while (so I can post this problem). Help me to fix this please.... Thank You very much
  6. I usually only googling my problem and find the solution from people. Customer Support may have better knowledge than us, but they're not really users so they don't have sufficient experiences from user's side/point of view.
  7. dos shell/commandPrompt is one of the greatest things in this world. It's a basic of what you need to learn computer : If you want something, just type something and you'll get the result. At the first time I installed linux, everything was based on console (and maybe until now). And DOS made me get used to it (using shell/console).
  8. format your pendrive and give it a dos boot. put these files :* XMSMMGR.EXE (replacement of himem.sys)* SMARTDRV.EXE (drive cache)* norton ghost* Harddisk Image you're going to cloneBoot with this pendrive and run xmsmmgr.exe, smartdrv.exe and start ghosting. But I don't recommend using a pendrive, it's slow.
  9. If you do a lot of rendering works, you will need a very big storage. It will be increased when you connect a camera (such as CCTV in banks) to your computer and record everything. 1TB will be insufficient. For me 300GB (that's what I have) is too much, until now I only use 30% of it
  10. I agree to Feedbacker.I will just be there with the person who's in pain, help him/her pray to God, until God decides if she/he will die or not.
  11. What standards will be used is depending on country's regulation and frequency regulation. GSM and CDMA run on different range of frequencies. And if a range of frequency is full, then providers will start looking other standard and implement the new standard.I'm using both GSM and CDMA (I have 4 handphones with 4 different numbers, 2 GSMs and 2 CDMAs). There's no favourite. They have their own functions.GSM : 1 number for Internet via GPRS, and another for my wife's communicationCDMA : me and my wife. usually CDMA is bad for text messaging and the signal is poor, sometimes we have to recharge the batteries often because the handphones try to look for signal.
  12. why don't you use TestDisk. I use it a lot. And the best fact is that it is an opensource software. There's also Photorec to recover your files. They're all can work on flash/thumb drive
  13. I usuallu use Media Coder from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. It can convert most video & audio file types. Usually I download a youtube videos and convert them to .mpg using this software. It can also convert into .3gp, you can also specify what kind of devices you are going to put this .3gp so it will match the hardware. And don't worry, it's opensource, so it's free and no limitation.
  14. And this is to disable all autorun in XP : Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:000000ff"NoDriveAutoRun"=hex:ff,ff,ff,03[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom]"AutoRun"=dword:00000000 save it as noautorun.reg and double click it.
  15. Windows XP is enough for me. I'm not thinking to migrate to Vista someday because I have not found something critical that can make me upgrade.Windows is not cheap. After buying XP a year ago, my wife said : "You spend so much money just to buy an OS ? Don't tell me that you'll buy the office too !!!"So, I said NO to Vista if I have to pay for the upgrade.
