I personally have Tuneup utilities which allows you to acctaully install the skin on the cmoputer with using a program such as blinds to translate the skin into windows UI. Anyways, after using their default skins, i begran to learn how to design windows default skin which supposedly should not be known. Try Tunup Utilities 2006, their skin mode, and you might learn more about themeing Windows XP.

Hey guys, i just found a really nice program that does all of this automatically. It also updates the hosts file whenever ths list is updated. It gives you a nice feature to activate adn deactivate. Its located at abelhadigital.com and is called Hostsman. Also i read somewhere online that that its good to disable DNS control on windows xp systems to speed up browsing.

I hate vista, but why would u need to use ultimate. Ultimate edition is like Windows Server 2003. Most users wouln't need such a service unelss they plan to 'host 200 acounts on that system and maybe host several websites. The basic package will be for most users. Also, advertising to Russia isn't a good idea. First day that Windows Vista is launched in Russia, that same day a cracked version would be sold for half of it. Trust me i know, hehe.

Why Do Black Hackers Target The Average User? As the topic tittle says
Levis replied to Levis's topic in Computer Networks
Man, don't you just love breaking into hidden ports and manipulating the system to firewall if their is one to open up. Thats all good, but its stupid. If you want to hack something, build yourself a server and keep on tweaking and hacking it untill you master the art. Don't going screwking with other people's lives because you want to learn. Thats what i did, darn bitdefender i helped them out so' much lol and all i got was a free lifetime license key and a visiti lol. Man my grammer is becoming worse and worse on these forums. See ya -
Umm ubuntu is okay, but i would use kubuntu. They are identical except Kubuntu uses the KDE desktop which looks niced and has more features, while the Ubuntu desktop uses Gnome which kind of looks like the old win 3.1 or mac 9 theme. If you want to download other packages. All linux distro's give you access to APT. YHou can run it manually, or you can use the provided program. They even tell you what it is. Be careful of what you install, because you might just screw up the whole system. If you want to install windows apps that use Wine, though once installed, you will have to manually create shorcuts to your menu's. Anyways goods luck. We are waiting to help you.

Ya dude, i have been running Windows XP Pro on the following system: AMD Athlon 640mhz 128 mb ram 120 gig hard drive (thats new) It works quite well, sometimes freezes but it does its job.We bought it in 1999, it survived my damage and is being used by my 10 year brother. Its page has a max limit of 10 gigs. So imagine the possibilty. Also, it has linux installed on it. If you know windows you can do anything. My next goal is figuring away to install windows xp home on computer with no RAM (not possible) hehe.

Gmail: Simply The Best Comparations make it clear
Levis replied to herenvardo's topic in General Discussion
Guys, it will stay free, have you seen the Google stock. It is higher then high. Google can donate servers to each of us and they wouln't notice a dent in their account books. Second, Gmail oversells space, common will anyone ever user 2 gigs of space, no, esp with an upload file limit. We must not forget Adsense, the number one ad system on the internet. They make millions and millions per day just off that. Have you not noticed that Google buys of 100's of small companies every year. Last year i wanted to get a job for a graphic design company and they told be to come back over the summer. Guess what, google now owns them. Also, they have to keep this service free to attract more clients to their service. The more people, google can show their ads too the larger probablity that ads will be clicked.Hey, what about Yahoo e-mail accounts. I have a paid one, but it used to be free and their service is quite good. I redirect all my e-mail from my domain to the yahoo one. -
Here is how Windows Activation will work with vista. If a user purchases Windows Vista from a store and installs it on PC A, he will only be able to use it on PC A, unless he decides to deactivate taht copy and install it on PC B. This system is flawed because users are able to back up their registry and by using a free tricks, they can recopy the registry. The only users that will not be able to transfer or upgrade their license will be OEM users. This is quite unfair but what can one do. Well quite alot, as provided with OEM installations. Its quite easy to create an installation disc that can upgrade or create a full reinstall. Anyways i shouldn't be giving our tips, otherwise microsoft might catch on.

Well, that would be good and it would be bad. First off, Xisto would have a larger NET profit, but their servers would bbe overloaded with clients, forcing them to buy a new server. Its good to expand but expand slowly. Also, the fees to pay staff to provide techincal support, and manage dedicated servers is pretty expensive. A Xeon server costs serveral hundred dollars, depending on who you get it from and if you want it to be manage. Questions: Are the Xisto servers networked together through cPanel? Will xisto be offering vps service soon?

Sorry bro but like that website just doesn't work on my end. Is that the right link?

Forget it guys, for some reason everything works now, i guess after the server restart. I still don't know why it happened. Linux accounts rarely lock up like myn did. More info from the servers admins would be nice. I'd really like to know why this happened.

Welcome aboard. I'm new hear but starting to feel quite comfortable. Feels amost like home. Hope you like it here. Your gonna have to outpost be bud lol, i guess i have a head start.

Wow thanks guys, I always made sure that my host file was clean, i never new it could block certain websies. Though, wouln't this configuration slow down browsing, to verify the web address. Anyways, ill try going to one of thos esites and see what will happen.

Sorry, but their is no such service. First off, you can only run it as either a root user on a linux system, or an admin on a windows system. You would have to rent out the whol server. Why do you need such access?
-
Alright, i initially thought that FrontPage extentsions were down, but its not. I don't know why but for some reason my account is heavly restricted. I can't upload or delete anything. Can someone take a look at my account? Something with my account permissions. Grr, wish i had shell access, hehe .

Hey guys,In the last thread, i started a topic on best free security software. I then asked, why are regular people victtimized? Kyro stated earlier that they do it for money, but thats not always the case. Their are people who do it for the hell of it, or because they believe they will ruin microsofts reputation. Don't they realixe that the average person won't just stop using windows and switch to linux? What are your views? Can we one day stop them, or should we keep on running from those nasty little virus's and spyware?
-
Hey dont forget that you can run windows apps quite well on linux distros. Somehow i posted in thsi forum but my post is gone, or i guess i forget to save it last night hehe.

No you are fine with memeory. Firstly i would buy some VAIO recovery CD's and restore your whole system. Then i would tweak it down a bit. I will be writing a tutorial sometime next week on securing and tweaking down windows, be sure to check it out. Also when your going to be changing ram on your system, be sure to ground urself, or you risk your system dying.

Well virtual PC wouln't hog any resources as long as its nto running and it doesnt' work unless you start it. Its the best way to go. As some easiers said, you can split up your partitions, or if you want to do it your way. You can do it, but bootup will be a *****, you will have to reconfig GRUB bootloader to have it load windows unless specified. If you plan to take that route and need help configing GRUB, be sure to ask. I'll help you with it.
-
Well isn't that why we have small independent companies that provide good computer secutiy such as Zone Alarm. Even if you don't tweak the system down, you can still feel somewhat safe. Zone Alarm shuts of most maliscous code and what not. Why are their people who try to hurt regular windows users? Those darn hackers aren't hurting microsoft but the normal folk that just use their PC's to do what thy have to do. Why? That would be a nice thread to start!
-
Lol, ya but why do we need to upgrade to 1 gig or even 2 gigi ram computers. I'm sorry but microsoft if just making it worse. I understand that software has become quite complex, but what about the small companies that can create applications that use less ram. if Ad-Aware uses 32 mb of ram then defender uses 120 mb. Just as an example, its smaller in reality

Windows vista, hell, any oem that offers vista will burn. I ran the R2 beta and boy did it kill my laptop which has 512 mb of ram and 1.73 ghz proc. Their Aero graphics system is pretty cool but vista functions best when min graphics are used. Microsoft also has blocked access to the vista kernal. As of now all security software must be microsoft made. Hehe, how monopolistic of them. Its such a disgusting OS that i can't even talk about it.

I think your wrong. If a computer has the right software and a person doesn't browse porn sites then he will be safe. I am the family computer tech and throughout my reign of terror i've struggled with one virus which was pretty scarry. If a computer is secured properly and services are disabled. Its pretty hard to get a system infected. As of right now, if i searched for one of the most infected spyware sites, i would not get affected. It just gets blocked.
