  1. I never use email clients - only webmail, so I can't give my opinion on Thunderbird, but FIREFOX IS THE BEST BROWSER I KNOW OF!!! It is considerably faster than IE and has better stability. I dont understand the deal with tabbed browsing. If the program crashes, all pages will be lost. Instead, just use new windows. That's what I like about IE but not Firefox. Ahh well, some people like it . For Mozilla, now SeaMonkey, I can say it's great, only the composer is a bit funny (bad funny, not funny funny! ) and acts a bit stragely. I like all in one suites like SeaMonkey and Microsoft Office.~souradipm
  2. WinZip and WinRar are shareware. To open them, I either use Windows XP's built in one or on my Win98SE computer, I use FilZip, a free alternative to WinZip and WinRar. It can open many file types and zip files. The only downside is it doesn't maintain directory stucture.~souradipm
  3. Hey, I thought WinME was the best when I bought it with my computer in 2001, but we upgraded to XP after a nasty virus. I think Windows XP is the best because I think it has more capibilities. It is more secure in my opinion. It has better graphics and a good logon system. I think WinXP is better than Win2k because it has better graphics. I've never tested Windows Vista. But Win2k has all the features I want. I choose WinXP as best. ~souradipm
  4. I cant give an exact link at the moment, but i will try. I'll edit when i've got it. The reason is you have to be invited to do it. I got invited because I registered Visual Basic 2005 Express.~souradipm
  5. The GIMP is probably the best out there that's free, but this is good for beginners. The GIMP has an odd interface too so you should get used to this before you get the GIMP, everybody.~souradipm
  6. ATTENTION ALL GAMERSand other beta testers,I saw when I was going and using VB8 Express, you recieved rewards, like icons, an e-book, etc, but I also saw on the 'Other Betas' Part, Microst was letting you test games for them. So I thought I'd post it here. Try it out! Register for an Express program and go to Claim rewards and then on the menu on the right click 'Other Betas' and try betas of Office 2007, Game Studios and more! Enjoy, souradipm
  7. I don't have that problem, but I can tell you, when you go yo a site with flash, usually Firefox tells you that you must download a plugin. Flash Player doesn't come with browsers. Try a quick install of FireFox and install when neccessary. Also, logon on forums use PHP, not Flash Hope this helps, souradipm
  8. Hi!I think i've found a good provider. I used to have an account at hostingspace.org and I was happy - 1Gig starter space, unmetered bandwidth, the life. That was shattered when it went down so I went to lycos. The trouble was... ADS AND MORE ADS! So I searched on google once again and I finally found this! This is the closest so far to hostingspace and currenly I'm waiting to get a hosting package.~souradipmPS - I signed up today at 12:05 noon.
  9. Cool! I was born in Kolkata and I'm looking forward to see it on Google Earth!~souradipm
  10. Instead of having: <style type="text/css">@import"main.css"</style> or blah blah, try using <link rel "stylesheet" href "main.css>in your head tag. Found the thing on http://www.w3.org/. Try searching there for CSS tutorials to get you started. I tried searching they had a really good one, that covers all basics. Also, try using the PHP include() function to embed the code of another htm/php file in that point. ~souradipm
  11. If you want to try out Linux but not install it, try a live cd, eg Knoppix. That way, when your cyber cafe closes, you can quickly try it out. Knoppix comes with OpenOffice and KDE + its programs and you can go to http://knoppix.net/ to find out more about it.Hope it helps, souradipm
  12. Hi all, I made a software called SM NoteThis! a while back and I do not update it mainly because I've given up on C. It makes quick jotting down notes and doesn't require much time at all to start up. It is a small (less than 40kb in size!) and works only for Windows 95R2 and up (including Windows XP). The help file says that there is going to be a print function in v2.2, but I'm not gonna release that as I'm not updating it anymore. Maybe, just maybe if it becomes popular then i'll add a v2.2. LINK : dOwNlOaD LiNk (right click>download) (Hosted on my old host) Oh and it's distributed as an installer file. PM me if you want to host the pacake (redistributable only as my installer). Please tell me what you think of my early invention. Enjoy, souradipm
  13. Runescape is good, though Irated it 2/10. Why? Because simple I don't like it where you have to pay. I mean it's all right, as long as they provide help and still update it a bit. Runescape Freeversion is stupid. It is also unrealistic. I tried to recover my password and even though I answered the questions correctly it said I didn't. Also, so many people hack the game every day. That makes it unenjoyable. The Free version gets boring after a few months.~souradipm
  14. Yes, definetely Asta Host. Asta Host has given me all I want and all it needs is participation in the forums. I like sites which you have to post. http://www.hostingspace.org/ my former provider went down and I still need time to settle down here, but I think my website has a bright future with Xisto.~souradipm
  15. Well, you could get a proper server OS like Debian and use your computer as the nameserver. I've never got my own personal server so I am no expert. afterwards you could try installing KDE and Perl,PHP,MySQL you know. If you had enough space you could use Windows to design a site and Debian to publish it! But I really dont know about how to set up domains.~souradipm
  16. Hey, I was bored one day so I typed in http://www.www.com/ and a search engine came up. I thought i'd post the link here.LINK: www.com
