  1. Firstly, and i forgeot to mention this, but i mostly use linux, and that the server is a multi-boot. Second, for the last year or so, i have been using or neighbor's internet, and she put a password on the settings page, and thus i can't access the ip forwarding. The only other internet in our house is dial-up, which i know for a fact i can't use.
  2. Hey, don't tell anyoBy i said this, but a certain sOund company (that makeS very nice speakers) is resEarching blueray, and will possibly put it into a product soon to come. But don't get me wrong, i am not sure entirely, but i do know this from a trustable resource.
  3. I am willing to bet that the company that is developing this battery is going to use it with some of the new flexible OLED screens and some off the new flexible circuitry. Here is something that nokia has been working on // link dead // which might incorporate this new battery. hope you like it.
  4. My first day here was good. I think that there should be aa new section that is dedicated to robotics or mechanical hardware. Esentially, I think there should be a electrical engineering section. That could possibly be somthing good.
  5. That so funny. I love it when computers fight over IP adresses. It's kinda like my high school that i go to. Picture this: over 300 Dell's on a high speed gigabit network, all fighting for the same IP. It is mad funny when you think about. Especially when the network admins have absolutely no clue as to why the network isn't working.
  6. That is simply a wierd game. I think that the sims 2 or even 1 would do better, mostly because if you get ticked off by a sim or just feel like it, you can knock off (kill) the sim. i dunno if you could do that in this "romance" game, but it would be pretty funny. Kinda like when the couples are having some "action" and the plant catches fire. Then you simply have a boat load of hysterical laughter. But that is me.
  7. Then again, you could always use 3DS MAX 7 or Maya <whatever version is out now>, which will deliver very high quality graphics. Altough I am not sure if 3DS or Maya can actually be used to create actual scenarios, or plots. But I do know that some of the highest quality games and movies are made with it. The only downsides that i see with it is the price tags(ITS IN THE BLOODY THOUSANDS!), and the fact that it can be very hard to lear for a newbie in this field of computers.
  8. I received an e-mail from the FBI regarding fake Paypal sites, that simulate exactly what the real paypal site does. Be very careful when using paypal and other internet based shopping things. The URL's even look almost exactly the same. What you should watch out for is pages that request all of your account information, or stuff like Pin numbers or just in genneral stuff that they don't need to make a successful transaction, but what theifs do need. Just as a word(s) of caution.
  9. I had recently heard of something to do with GMail and File storage. I think it was that you could store files on your gmail account. I beleive that it made a virtual drive on you comouter, which would upload the files to your gmail account. I am not sure if this even exists, so please correct me if I am wrong. But if I am not, then i think that it is a great idea. Although I think this will bring around alot of legal issues with people storing illegal files on them, and the goverments wanting to see what is in them.
  10. Thats great. Kai-Fu Lee is prbably in a body bag as the end result of their "private agreement that resolves all issues to their mutual satisfaction." Why can't micro$oft ditch MSn (you know? that pathetic serch engine that nobody likes? or at least the useless msn messenger?) and just try and do something useful like become a partener with google? it makes alot more sense to me.
  11. Well, of possible, I would like to run it out of my house, using my current T1 connection. My house network is all wireless, so I am not sure what i would have to do about that. Thanks for your time and help.
  12. Just as add-on to what ViriiGuy said about the heat generated inside a computer, a pentium 4 generates around 84 watts of heat on it's 1.12 x 1.12 CM die, while a houshold clothes iron generates about 10 watts per square centimeter. That is one heck of alot of heat.
  13. I think it is hilarious that micro$oft is actually publicizing this. I mean, in all honesty, i think that micro$oft exagerated as to how little resources etc. their windows os took, and they probably over exagerated the linux kernel based Os's took (or at least they i think that they would never have publicized this). Personaly, i think that micro$soft should try to implement the linux kernel in the next windows installment (not vista. or at least not yet.).
  14. WGA is stupid, annoying, and pointless. Same for windows update. It is also easy to get around, although I am not going to say how. Micro$oft knows their software is gonna get pirated, stolen, cracked, etc., so why don't they just let windows be free, while upgrades and other software like office would cost money. That way, Micro$oft would make money, but not have to worry about alot piracy. But this is my opinion, so don't get me wrong. Micro$oft should get money for all of their work, but they should't be able to essentially monopolize over the end-user computer industry. I mean, 98% of my high school (which has about 2000 students) have only heard about windows. Something is obviously wrong here.
  15. Yup, Palm Os is embedded, and i beleive that certain versions of linux and windows are embedded also. I have a Palm Lifedrive that is running essentially a dual boot of palm OS and Linux (I think it is Familiar GPE 2.7). Here is a link to the Linux OS for Lifedrive website: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It uses this application called garux to shut off the Palm OS and start the linux kernel. Its still being developed or something, but most of the basic features work.
