Frankly speaking, Fantastico is basically for newbies or Beginners of PHP .. It does offer flexibility of modification of the script etc ... If u are not a Newbie, than it is better to use the script urself .... So I needed the actual file Peace Out
  2. Hey all, I need Viper GuestBook, which is a free PHP Script ... When I try to download from Hotscript [dot] Com it refers me to its website : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ But the website is actually hosted on Lycos, and has been Downtime (Offline) since over 2 months .. I cannot access this script If somebody, have access to tis website, and can download the script, than please give me. Or otherwise, if u have download the script before (the site getting offline), than please send it to me ...
  3. Hey, if u have PHP Support on ur Web Server and also have a MySQL Database than u can try any Free Open Source Software .. There are many of them available on the Internet. e.g. Wordpress b2evolution pMachine Free Nucleus MicroBlog My PHP Blog and many many more Just Google this into ur Internet Browser. Or go to this Page : http://www.freeprogrammingresources.com/phpblog.html U will find many .... HOwever, if u ask my personal opinion than will recommend u to use Wordpress. It is a very secure, and yet with a diverse range of options and most commonly used Blog Software in the world. All u need to do is to Copy the Files to ur Server, Type in the MySQL Database name and user information and click install .... Thats ... And yes, if u have the support of Fantastico than Wordpress is offered in the Fantastico as well Where u can complete an autoinstallation and auto configuration **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  4. You are right Even I use W3SChools for learning PHP ... I think that php.net is for Advanced users Regards: Samya Khalid
  5. I know that Content Management Systems do have these features, but CMS are way different.. I mean, CMS is itself a complete website and all u have to do is to create Scripts embedded within them ... We cannot use them to create separate Scripts which can be used separately in other website I found these two SOFTWAREs yesterday .... Although they are not exactly the same things which I need, but they do resemble that .... I had a Php/MySQL based Shoutbox, and I needed to create an Admin area where I can Edit/ Delete / Update the Shouts, their Details, IP Address, Time, Name etc .. I know it can be done by phpmyadmin but that is too Hectic. So I came across this Program named : PHP Edit ... I used it to create exactly the same thing ... This software created a Script, with which I directly log in to my admin.php and edit the details from MySQL Is this Kinda Software available for Web Polls, Counters etc **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  6. I use Windows Defaults's FTP I mean just type the Address in the Internet Explorer as : 11.11.11.11 and thats it .... Everything works fine in my case ... Regards: Samya Khalid
  7. My Question is a little bit different I have gone through all the topics and came across many PHP Editors .. Howevers, all of these are mainly more or less like Notepad, except for the fact that they have Highlighted Syntax, or we can add a Command by Clicking, and some also provides Debugging However, is there any software which have some Pre Defined Scripts, which we can customize in a Wizard like medium and than get the Generated PHP File ... I mean that Software can have some Scripts which are typically used for the Personal Websites ... Some of these may include : Web Poll Search Engine Guestbook Site Counter Live Counter - Users online Detailed Statistics Shoutbox / Tagboard etc Blogs Rating System What else can a Personal Website contain ??? Many of u will refer me to Script sites such as Hot Scripts [dot] com I know of that already, but believe me I find one in a ten Script which is working Properly. And yet they are totally customizable. I mean those are made as Developer wanted to make it .... What if, we have a software which will run in a Wizard mode .... e.g. Incase of Shoutbox : 1) Do u want a MySQL-Based or Text-based Database ..... 2) Number of Posts to be shown on Shoutbox 3) Select a Design 4) blah blah 5) blah blah . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 17) Here is ur Shout box ... I have written such a long question ...... I hope that u people have understood my question Waiting for the replies
  8. But there is another option.... I mean, u can also use Pre Configured Packages .... U can use Easy PHP ... Download it for fre from here : http://www.easyphp.org/ It includes : 1) PHP 2) Apache Server 3) MySQL Databases 4) phpmyadmin *** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards : Samya Khalid
  9. The manual available on php.net is too difficult and advanced ... for a Beginner .. Furthermore, it is also messed up and unorganised ..... It is only best for the Advanced users who need to see the Functions of PHP .... The best Tutorial for a Newbie is available at W3 Schools .... It is the best Tutorial, Even I started with this Tutorial Just go to this Website : http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  10. Ohhhh yes ... Easy PHP is probably the best option .... Furthermore, it is just 4 MB in size There is a folder in the Easy PHP Directory called www ... All u nede to do is to place ur PHP Files in that folder ... Lets say that the name of PHP File is samya.php ... Than the path to open ur Webpage on PHP is : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ OR LOCALHOST/samya.php Whats more It also has phpmyadmin installed for maintenance of MySQL Databases using PHP **** All Criticisms and Appreciations are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  11. hmmm ... the mailto Function is not too good ..... Well if u dont wanna use the Scripting urself ... Than why dont u use some Remotely Hosted Scripts .... U can try Black Fire Networks .. Here u can find a CGI Based Form-Mail ... the good thing is that they dont even place Ads on ur Website **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  12. Hey .... Nice work Dude ... I really like the Menu number 3, 8, 9, 10 I am saying this because these Menus suit the Design of my WEBPAGE .... If I have ur Permission, than can I use these on my Website Regards: Samya Khalid
  13. The website is nice .... but u should make some improvements in that ....First of all get rid of those Frames ...The fashion of Frames is now outdated and they dont look cool anymore ....Secondly improve the Color Scheme ...You have not added any colors :oAnd finally, please move from CJB.NET ...Believe me or not, but half of the visitors usually run away from the website because of the three Advertisements, which always Pops up at every Click ....There are many other Free Domain name providers available ...Why dont u try those ???? :PTry this one :http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  14. hmmm ... They are just OK However if u are really Newbie in Photoshop than I think that they are worth appreciation Keep it up, and do let us know about ur more samples Regards: Samya Khalid

  16. Well, My Blog is also on Wordpress and I am satisfied with it ... It has a great diversity in Options, Designs and blah blah HOwever, b2evolution is also very good, but its interface is not much Friendly **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  17. hmmm ... Installing PHP, MySQL and Apache Server will be quite difficult for u. Their Configuration is too difficult and infact impossible for a Newbie who dont know how to use PHP. However, u have many other options ... Why dont u try some pre-installed and pre-configured packages .... There are many Intallation Kits available for this .... Go to this page on HOt Scripts [dot] Com and u will find a number of softwares ... If u take my Personal Opinion than, I am also a kinda Newbie .... I use Easy PHP ... This Installation Kits consisits of the following : PHP MySQL Database Apache Server phpmyadmin All u have to do is to run the Setup and u are done ....Everything will be installed and Configured automatically .... Just go this website : http://www.easyphp.org/ However, if u wish to install the PHP Manually than I have a very good tutorial for that Just go this Website .. and they will tell u in detail how to install the CGI version of PHP .... U need Apache Server and PHP for this ... http://www.lycos.com/?tw=programming Before this u must download the latest versions of each of the following : PHP http://php.net/downloads.php Apache HTTP Server http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi My SQL Database http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards : Samya Khalid
  18. Ohhhh ... It is indeed a very small Website ... I dont know how the Designer created that .. its so small that u can rarely read anything in it .... Anywayzz ... Hats off to the Designer ... Regards: Samya Khalid

  20. Well, http://php.net/ is no doubt the official website of PHP, but I think that the manual present there is actually for much Advanced users ... When I looked at that manual for the first time, I simply got confused that how I gonna read that I think that if u are a NEWBIE, than the best place to start off with PHP is W3Schools ... This is where I started with my PHP Programming ... ALTHOUGH it is much Basic but it is probably the best for a beginner http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp Furthermore, HotScripts and Resource Index also provides a number of useful Scripts ... Well, I dont know about the others but this is how I started it **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  21. I will prefer PHP. There is no valid reason I have never ever used Perl so I dont have any idea about Perl ... However I have used PHP and learnt much of this .. The good thing about PHP is that a hell lot of Free PHP Scripts are available at different website. Due to the diversity in availability of PHP Scripts, u often end up having exactly the same thing which u had wanted. However, Perl Scripts are also available at most places but relatively they are much much lesser than the PHP Scripts Furthermore, as people have said that PHP is a pure Web Language and indeed a very powerful language So I will prefer PHP **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards : Samya Khalid
  22. Hey Thanks lott This search Engine is awsome and No Doubt that it resembles the Google Search .... I used it on my Computer ... It was installed in a minute without any problems .... However, the design of Search Engine is not much appealing ... Can u please tell me how to modify its Design .... Most Probably I will be using this Search Engine for my own Website Thanks ... Regards: Samya Khalid
  23. U are right I dont think that we should hide the source code by encrypting it ... First of all this makes the Page much more big in size, and thus taking more time to Load .... Furthermore, it will also make difficult for u to update the page Furthermore, by default the Javascript is activated but dont use excess of Javascript as it sometimes, irritates the visitor ... However, it is a good practice, if u have a downloasd site, something like Rapidshare etc, where u dont want to show the actual path of File ... But I dont think that any one amongst us gonna create such a site **** All Appreciations and Criticisms are welcome **** Regards: Samya Khalid
  24. Nice one But I have heard that this is only limited to Internet Explorer. I dont think that it will work with other Browsers as Firefox, Netscape Navigator etc Anyone ??? who know that it also works on Firefox ?? Regards: Samya Khalid
  25. So here is a good PHP Script which u can use inorder to show Users Online Counter or simply Live Counter for ur Site. Note : U need a MySQL Database to use this script .... This script only needs One Table, so u can use ur Database for other purposes as well ... So here we go ..... First we need to create the Tables in our DATABASE ... Just run this query, in PHPmyAdmin, or anywhere u like CREATE TABLE `live` ( `idx` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `ip` varchar(15) NOT NULL default '', `last_access` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0', `location` varchar(80) NOT NULL default '', PRIMARY KEY (`idx`), KEY `ip` (`ip`), KEY `last_access` (`last_access`)) TYPE=MyISAM After that u have created the tables ...Save this page as anyname.php <?php // First of all, Connect to Database$dbhost = 'localhost'; // ur Database Host$dbuser = 'root'; // ur username$dbpass = 'password'; // ur password$dbname = 'databaselive'; // ur database name$conn = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass) or die ('Error connecting to mysql');mysql_select_db($dbname);// gets the IP Address and saves it into Database$ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];$now = time ();$now_5 = $now - 300; // refresh every 5 minmysql_query ("DELETE FROM live WHERE last_access < $now_5");$res = mysql_query ("SELECT * FROM live WHERE ip='$ip' LIMIT 1");if (!$row = mysql_fetch_array ($res)){ mysql_query ("INSERT INTO live SET ip='$ip', last_access = '$now'");}else{ mysql_query ("UPDATE live SET last_access = '$now' WHERE idx='$row[idx]' LIMIT 1");}// display the Live Counter$txt = ''; $n = 0;$res = mysql_query ("SELECT * FROM live");while ($row = mysql_fetch_array ($res)){$n++;$txt .= "IP: $row[ip] - Last Access: ".date ('r', $row['last_access'])."<BR>";}$txt = "There are/is $n visitor(s) now:<BR>".$txt;echo $txt;?> Thats it ur Live Counter is Ready ... However, u must have seen the Live Counters in Image Format, such as that of Bravenet etc ... Just like this one ... No Need to get Confused ... Its really easy ... All u need to have is that u should have GD Library installed in ur Server .... It is available for free at : https://boutell.com/gd/ If u are not sure whether GD Library is installed or not, than u should better ask ur Web Host ... However there is also another option .... Just save this file as gd.php or anything.php : <?phpif (function_exists('imagecreate')) { echo "GD Library is enabled <br>rn<pre>"; var_dump(gd_info()); echo "</pre>";} else { echo 'Sorry, you need to enable GD library first';}?> Than upload this file to ur Web Server using FTP or anything ...Point ur browser to this file, and open it ... Thats it .... If u see, GD Library is enabled .... it means that ur Web Server has got GD Library If u see, Sorry, you need to enable GD library first ..... it means, that ur Web Server dont have GD Library and this Image Script will not work .... Anywayzzzz ... Moving further, Save this file as anyname.php <?php // First of all, Connect to Database$dbhost = 'localhost'; // ur Database Host$dbuser = 'root'; // ur username$dbpass = 'password'; // ur password$dbname = 'databaselive'; // ur database name$conn = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass) or die ('Error connecting to mysql');mysql_select_db($dbname);header ('(anti-spam-(anti-spam-(anti-spam-(anti-spam-(anti-spam-(anti-spam-content-type:)))))) image/png');$ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];$now = time ();$now_5 = $now - 300; // refresh every 5 minmysql_query ("DELETE FROM live WHERE last_access < $now_5");$res = mysql_query ("SELECT * FROM live WHERE ip='$ip' LIMIT 1");if (!$row = mysql_fetch_array ($res)){ mysql_query ("INSERT INTO live SET ip='$ip', last_access = '$now'");}else{ mysql_query ("UPDATE live SET last_access = '$now' WHERE idx='$row[idx]' LIMIT 1");}// display the Count$res = sql_query ("SELECT COUNT(*) AS num FROM live LIMIT 1");$row = sql_fetch_array ($res);$n = $row['num'];if ($n > 1){ $txt = "There are $n visitors now.";}else{ $txt = "There is $n visitor now.";}// calculate image size$w = (strlen ($txt) * 7) + 41;$h = 17;$gb = imagecreate ($w, $h);$bg = imagecolorallocate ($gb, 255, 255, 255);$fg = imagecolorallocate ($gb, 0, 0, 0);$cy = imagecolorallocate ($gb, 19, 114, 108);imagerectangle ($gb, 0, 0, $w-1, $h-1, $fg);imagefilledrectangle ($gb, 2, 2, 35, 14, $cy);imagestring ($gb, 3, 5, 1, 'LIVE', $bg);imagestring ($gb, 3, 38, 1, $txt, $fg);imagePNG ($gb);imagedestroy ($gb); ?> Credits This article is actually written by me, (Samya Khalid) and is actually a modified version of one available at PHP Magix. I have added some information, and deleted some information which was redundant and beyond the scope of this topic You can see the Original Tutorial at : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ *** All Criticisms and Appreciations are welcome *** Regards: Samya Khalid
