  1. someone told me that you can use gmail as a host for like pictures and stuff.. has anyone else heard this.. and is it possible cuz i wouldnt mind using it to show off pictures... ya can never have too much free space
  2. awesome Hraefn, you nailed it, i changed the privacy settings on zone alarm and now the animated gif's are showing up just fine. Thanks a ton, i can breathe a sigh of relief knowing my computer isnt messed up haha. Thanks again for the help
  3. alrighty.. for the past week or so, ive been having trouble viewing animated GIF's.. my avatar, some pics of mine on myspace.. they just show up black, no animation or anything... i checked this stuff on my sisters computer and it shows up fine, so i am assuming its my computer.. the only thing i can think of would be zone alarm or my antivirus program which is eTRUST EZ Antivirus.any ideas on this, ive never had any problems before.
  4. Im kinda reluctant to try this... i mean sure it would be great to speed up my connection but i dont know all of the technical stuff that this is messing with and i really dont need to screw up my computer.. i just had to format my hard drive and reinstall everything cuz windows xp pro freaked out and stopped workin on me... i still have some things that are wierd with it and i really dont want to make it worse....so if the consensus is this works withought messing something up then i will give it a shot... but i wanna know if its worth it
  5. i like it but i agree with the others.. if your gonna use the image you might wanna fade it some to make the text more readable... for me personally i wouldnt use the image cuz the text covers most of it anyway.. although fading it may help it out.. and i think the website at the bottom should be centeredbut i do like the concept and the look.. really cool, i would go see you guys play if i lived in florida heehee
  6. hmmm well i talk to my computer.. and when its actin funny i pet the tower hahaha... as far as pampering goes, i havent done much in the looks department, although i have been thinkin bout a new case... i upgraded graphics cards to the geforce 6800... and i bought another hard drive so the original isnt bogged down with stuff... umm got a new antivirus program and scanned, zapped, and cleaned the drives.. hmm other than cleaning crap outta the keyboard and occasionally cleanin the monitor thats about it haha
  7. no problem, im glad you liked it Im trying to think up some other stuff that i know how to do in flash, photoshop, and 3ds max cuz its fun to share knowledge haha
  8. well i chose black.. its always a fun color to me for some reason... so many possibilities hahaha.
  9. i believe it is photoshop CS... which is what i used... and the version of flash is Flash MX...
  10. Alrighty, Someone had some interest in this sig i created where a window slides back and forth showing a clear part of a blurred picture. So i figured i would make a tutorial out of it. We start off in photoshop. Create a new blank picture thats 500x100. Next add whatever you would like to the canvas.. this is the picture i will be using: Now that you have you picture ready, save it as a jpeg, and call it clear. Now that you have saved that, in photoshop go to image>adjustments>desaturate. This will make your image black and white. Once you have done that, go to filters>blur>gaussain blur. Set the radius to 5 or 6. click ok. You image should look like this. Go to save as, and save this as a jpeg, call it blur. Open up Flash. Go to modify>document and change the dimensions to 500x100. Next you will import your clear.jpeg and blur.jpeg into the library by going to file>import to library> then navigate to the files. press F11 to open up the library window if it is not alread open. Now create 3 layer in flash. Call the bottom layer blur. The middle layer should be called clear. and the top layer name it mask. lock all layers except blur. In your library window, grab blur.jpeg and drag it onto the stage(or the work area). Using the align window (ctrl+K if its not already open, or window>align) click the button that says "to stage" then hit the buttons "align horizontal center" and "align vertical center" This should match your picture up with the work area. Now lock the blur layer, and unlock the clear layer. You will repeat the same process with the clear.jpeg. drag it into the stage area and center it just like you did with the blur picture. Now lock the clear layer and unlock the mask layer. We will now make the window. Click on frame 80 on the mask layer. Holding down shift, click on frame 1 on the blur layer. All 3 rows should be highlighted. right click for the frame menu to come up, then choose insert frames. Now click on the rectangle tool. Under the color menu, which is right below where you picked the rectangle tool, click the pencil icon. a color swatch should appear. in the upper right corner of the box, click the white square with the diagonal red line. Drag out a box in the stage area. Under the properties window at the bottom of the screen, change the height and width to the following. H=137 W=151. Move the box to the left where it is just off of the picture. right click on the box and select convert to symbol. Name it mask, and select graphic under behaivior. click ok. Now go to frame 40, and on the mask layer right click and select insert keyframe. While holding down the shift key, grab the box and move it all the way to the right, just off of the picture. somewhere between frame 1 and frame 40, right click and select create motion tween. When you drag the slider between 1 and 40, you should see the box move from left to right. Now right go to frame 80 and right click. Select insert keyframe. Hold down shift and grab the box. Move it back to the left, just off of the picture. in between frame 40 and 80, right click and select create motion tween. Now that you have created the moving box, select the mask layer, right click, and select mask. Go to control>test movie and you should have something that looks like this: All that is left is to export, go to file>export movie, then name it and save it as an animated gif. If you have any questions about this tutorial, or having problems with it, either post or PM me, i will be happy to help.
  11. by all means if ya know something i dont, go for it Thats fine with me... yeah i havent had a chance to clean that stuff up yet
  12. Alrighty i have 2 questions... Lemme start by telling ya the programs I use... For video editing and such i use Flash and Premiere... anyhooo onto the questions...1. First off i would like to know if there is a way using either program to cut out certain parts of a video, like a person on a pogo stick.. cutting out the actual animated object to place in front of a different background.. Is there a way to do that with either program?2. I would like to know how to create the illusion that one thing in a video is in color while everything else is black and white, kinda like pleasantville (for those who have seen it) what i want to do is have someone either in black and white walking through a world of color, or vice versa, but i dont know how to do it.Any help is greatly appreciated.. and if you know of programs other than premiere or flash that can get the job done please dont hesitate to share that info... ya know the old saying sharing is caring
  13. ya know i was thinkin the same thing.. i would like to see more packages.. but moonwitch has a great point.. the way its set up now.. everyone who qualifies gets a package.. if they added more, not everyone could get anything, which would defeat the purpose of the whole post and get free space thing...
  14. i never thought about that.. i could make a tutorial for that pretty easy. Im glad ya like it, thanks
  15. awesome .. thanks for the help.. my html skills are super basic and i usually have to use tutorials to get codes and whatnot.. i usually make sites totally in flash cuz its a lot easier for me... i dont like coding too much lol
  16. haha heck yeah i thought of that the day after i made the initial sig.. i just gotta figure out a way to make it look good sittin up there yeah when i started workin on it i didnt know how big it needed to be to do the popout thing haha.. well now i know but yeah a resizing is in order thanks for the input from both of you .. i reallly appreciate it
  17. thats awesome i can really put this to good use... i hate the default icons in my favorites bar... this will come in handy cuz i run a site that im fixing to overhaul and this will be a nice touch to go with the make over :Pone question though, does it matter where you put the code on the webpage?
  18. I made a new siggy.. and ive been tweaking it so here it is with some variations... i made it using a drawing i sketched when i was super bored in class haha.. i took it and scanned it into my computer then colorized it using multiple layers in photoshop. i also did the popout thing, ive been meaning to try that for a while. any comments suggestions and opinions are very welcomed
  19. i too like the colors you picked, it looks really good... only suggestion i would make is moving the text on your sig to the bottom right corner... it would match the avatar better and it would be easier to read but it could be me lol i dunno just a suggestion heehee
  20. i agree to a point... i mean it wouldnt be so bad if cds were not ridiculously priced.. like there are sites where you can get an entire cd downloaded for like 5 bucks... but 15+ for a cd can get kinda pricey for those who love music a lot, so it is easy to see why they would take the free route.on the other hand, why pay when there are still ways to get it free... now im not saying its right or wrong either way.. i can agree that if you wanna sample a couple songs by an artist they should allow that to be free... but you would have to pay to get the whole album. But there are a lot of artists that give music free just to get some publicity. I know Linkin Park did that in their early years.
  21. awesome tutorial... i can use this in some of my pictures, it should fit very nicely in them. I have used photoshop for a while, but i like how ya made it super easy to understand
  22. Hey all... here is my dellima... i had to format my hard drive and reinstall windows xp pro... i have a dell dimension 8300 its about 2 years old but still an awesome compy for what i do with it haha... anyhoo i got all the drivers loaded up except in device manager it has that nasty old exclamation point next to the USB Controller... which means none of my USB ports want to work. I have installed the Promise SATA drivers cuz according to the dell support site, they would make the USB stuff work but it didnt does anyone really know what i need to install...
  23. heck yeah this is a great post... i need to do this... are there any extra steps i should take for a site made entirely in flash or does that make any kind of difference? i have the password protection enabled but im not sure if thats just for downloading or whatnot...
  24. man thats awesome and so simple to do... for some reason i like to make things more difficult than they need to be so whenever i thought about doin something like that i was thinkin green screen and fancy camera tricks and the works ya know lol anyhoo thanks for this im gonna have to try it out
  25. well i mainly use Windows Media Player just because its the easiest for me... but one of the sites i visit a lot has an internet radio station and i use Winamp to listen to that.,.... but 99.9% of the time its WMP for me
