  1. Awesome, time is what I have lots of haha thanks jipman I'll go try that one out
  2. Note - This is meant to be utilized for legal purposes only. Myself and the board assumes no responsibility for illegal usageLately I have purchased a couple large box sets of tv series on dvd and since they cost a fairly good chunk of cash, I was hoping to back them up so I could use the backups to view and keep the originals in pristine condition. I was wondering what the best software/methods are for ripping and backing up these dvds. I've heard there is some software that can do it quite well, but that was a fairly long time ago and I'm not sure if there is any software that is currently known as the 'best'.Thanks for any assistance, and again I'd like to reiterate that it's illegal in most places to copy media that you did not purchase, so don't use any information supplied here for those purposes.
  3. I thought this was going to be another cahllenge type thing haha. I remember once on a tv show they set up a machine and gave the ip and offered a prize to whoever hacked it first. No one won though since they needed to kill the competition because of server overloads and lawyers having heart attacks haha. But yes, to the site, I'm glad this site exists. They need more sites promoting the original concepts of hacking rather then the media version (....crap! mental images of the movie hackers....). Exploring software isn't a bad thing, and when you explore if their are security risks you are bound to find them. Whether you go out in search of them or not is irrelevant. What matters is how you handle the information. Ethics is a big issue in technology now because of its prevalence in our society. The "bad hackers" have more power then when the phrase was coined. Hopefully we'll see less of the evil ones and more of the good ones showing up as time progresses... I have fears that wont happen... but we can hope.
  4. Heh I'm with you Q. I often think a partiocular tattoo is cool... but I don't like permanent stuff haha. Not having the option to change it would annoy me probably. Well you 'can' change them and 'can' remove them, but not properly lol.
  5. In some interview with one of the head guys for Ubuntu, they said the cd shipments are actually their biggest cost currently. The main reason they do it is to make linux accessible to everyone, not just those with broadband who will be able to download the iso files and updates. With the cd at least they can have a base linux experience even on dialup without having to pay for it. They're really big on not paying for linux, so they don't want to charge for any version of it like most of the others do.D00d who runs the company is a bazillionaire anyways, he can handle it haha. I've never bothered ordering some cds from them but I think I might. I've been running ubuntu at home lately as one of my OS's and I use it here at work so may as well have an official copy of the disks since, as I think someone mentioned, they are free
  6. What is this 'habbo hotel'? It is amongst the million blocked websites here at my job less I would check myself haha It's like they said "What is Jeigh going to google today instead of working?....BANNED OMG PWNT"
  7. Seems reasonable, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://l''>https://l'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://l shows the plans for the next video ipod. Touch screen tech from a third party...hmmm... iiiinteresting Maybe they'll buy Palm and the NEXT next iPod'll be some palm ipod hybrid of DOOM... well of happy happy fun goodness.... but DOOM is more dramatic. Anyways yea, seems plausible. Plus I haven't heard much about Palm over the last year so they can't be doing that well, time for fresh management
  8. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://l''>https://l'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://l Apparently they like video And touchyness. As for longer term predictions, I think we'll see alot more with itunes type music stores. More and more media will be able to be pruchased and delivered digitally. Personally I haven't used any of that stuff, btu the concept seems sound. I'd also agree on the integration idea. I think they'll keep trying to put all out devices together into one which frankly I am a fan of. I'm hoping that by the time I need a new cell in a year or so I can buy one with a high quality mp3 player with a few gigs of space... that would be awesome. They already have our phones, cameras, mp3 players, and pdas (to some extent) integrated well. They will probably continue trying to make it so that these jacks of all trades are all high quality at everything they attempt, as well as integrating possibly even more devices and features together. I would never buy a pda, but if I could buy a marginally priced cell phone mega pda mp3 camera devicer frigger upper then I wouldn't mind that at all haha. But yes, digital content delivery and device integration would be my main predicitions. .. anyone remember the show "Earth: Final Conflict"? The only thing I actually remember about it is these weird slide open pda like alien tech things... now THAT would be sweet haha. A screen that isn't always open... really not that far fetched since they have that "digital paper" stuff they've been working on. Haha, carrying a little device that expands to a 2 - 17 inch screen or something... that'd be awesome :D:D *goes off into day dreams about random techy goodness*
  9. *waits for an admin to attack that post* haha. iPod nano's are nice, but if I ever got a player with the flat squared/rectangular shape I'd want a full sized megaz0r iPod since either will annoy me in a pocket, I may as well be annoyed by 30 gigs or 60gigs haha. Speaking of iPods, apparently the proper video ipods are being released soon. Makes me glad I didn't buy a 5g... I woulda just been pissed when I read this haha http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://l''>https://l'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://l
  10. Since m^e keeps lovin up google desktop... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://0''>https://0'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://0 hehe. But yea, I was gonna try out the web gtalk last night... then forgot who the few epople I knew were that had gtalk, so once I find them again and add them I'll give my impressions.
  11. I know the 6600gt line is really good power for the price. I have two friends who each got one for fairly cheap and it can take any game they throw at it currently. If you only have agp and reeeeally want a kickass card, I'm pretty sure AGP released a 7800 GS for agp slots... but it's probably hella expensive. Personally I would stick with a nVidia 6xxx agp card if you have an agp slot, less you'll be spending alot of money.Oh, and to the person who said you could get a 5700 to get 20-23fps... don't. It's not worth buying a new card to get that kind of crap performance. It'll look horrible at those rates, get a card that can at least pump out 30fps on the game you want.
  12. It may be your opinion, but it's all accurate I mean sure, they all use the 'windowing' metaphore but that's about it. The file structures are different, the ideology is different, everything is its own version of what is already out there, or something completely new. Sure alot overlaps, but thats the software ideas not the actual OS or core code. Linux rocks, regardless of CLI or Windowing Env. QED
  13. Crap! I'm on an evil server machine right now that has no sound card :| Grrr, I'll check that at home later
  14. Yea, it'll need to get past whatever boards even if it is known to be a cure, but apparently if it is deemed ready experts predict that they'll rush it through the FDA approval cycles to get it out as fast as they can do without skipping the tests required to ensure its safety. Still take years but that's how it works I guess :S
  15. While the new iPod video's are actually pretty damn small for their memory size, I agree for the most part Shadow X. As I mentioned, I almost did buy one of the 30gig Ipods... but I just couldn't bring myself to drop $370 for it, plus $50 for a protective covering, plus tax, plus protection plan... $500ish dollars later I can listen to music. Or, as I did, I can have 200ish songs with me all the time for under $200. Sure I'll need to swap music on/off once in awhile. BUt I can handle that for the extra cash.iPods are amazing tech, but not necessary for most people who have them. If I had the money I'd want one, but I agree they aren't as amazing as everyone tries to make them seem.
  16. I don't know for a fact, so I could be 100% wrong, but I would assume that once you are online with a mobile device the entire web is accessible, just like on here. I mean there are the normal web access fee's for mobile devices, but I can't imagine getting cut off from sites from other countries.....Someone let me know if I'm wrong on that...
  17. Haha cyborg I'm in your boat, I got gtalk... loved it... added all my...uh...no friends that use it....hrm... :PI'll need to go on another recruiting campaign and try to convince some of them to start switching over or at least using both, I can't stand msn but it's my main chat proggy cause everyone uses it. Maybe knowing how good the web gtalk is will entice a few more away from the dark side
  18. I think the T10 is actually the "higher quality" one, so its a dif design and has some more features, but is also a bit more expensive.I paid $170(Canadian) for my T30, I've seen them for less but I needed it fast or I'd go insane on the bus rides I need to take to/from work haha. I've also seen it for more, so shop around. If fm radio is important to you make sure to check because some of the T30 models have it, some dont (not sure why but thats what I've heard). I think all the T10's do.All in all it's working out great for me though. Nice sound quality, decent headphones came with it, good sound levels, and nice menu systems. As I mentioned above, having to use MS Media Player 10 to sync the music onto the device is a bit annoying, but easy to get used to. Apparently there are firmware updates I dont have to make the menus even better so I'll have to check that out.But yea, overall its great. If you are thinking about getting one I'd reccomend it. I love it, and all the reviews I've read of it say its great (from customers or official review sites). Except one reviewer who seemed to be having a bad day haha. Apparently the T10's are also great if that's what you are interested in. I think both come in 256mb, 512mb, and 1gig versions (I got the 1gig, the other two are cheaper obviously... and dif colors if that matters to you)
  19. One of my friends got one on the top of her foot that looks like her foot is actually ripped open, like so you see muscle/bone, insanely high quality artistry but freaky as hell. I'll try to grab a pic of it next time I see her hehe.
  20. Hm... well I had an old Dell gx-1 case that I needed to fit some non-dell parts into to make it work as a server... and since dell cases (at least the old ones) don't like non-proprietary parts being in them I had to 'mod' the case a bit... I wouldn't say it looks good now though haha. Basically it looks like someone attacked it with a hammer... probably because I did indeed attack it with a hammer (and a dremel... mostly a hammer...)I was considering getting a nice plain case for my personal comp and modding it up a bit, adding some custom windows and doing a painjob on it, but I lack money for the needed materials and equipment. Ooooooooh someday haha./ Until then I'll stick to my plain black case and my raped Dell gx-1 "server" case haha.
  21. Isn't that every distro? Just kill x-windows and whatnot...Personally I'd never want to use a CLI only idstro as my everyday OS. Seems pointless to only use one interface or the other when you can keep the best of both worls at your fingertips. Use the one with the most advantages in each given situation and avoid using them in their downfall areas.
  22. I assume java CAN interact with SQl... I haven't done it so I can't say if its easy or not. I know vb can super easily...
  23. I have nothing to add, just DONT start a photoshop/gimp pro/con discussion
  24. Wow...I have no need to read all that but well done, it looks pretty freaking comprehensive :| I'm sure it'll help alot of people who don't follow my pattern of "find stuff, add other stuff, stick name on it". Good work
  25. I was reading about this yesterday I think, I tried my best not to let myself get sucked into it but I can't help be being hopeful. Something like this would be amazing in and of itself, plus it would give hope to those researchers working on the other horrible diseases still prevalent in today's culture. I hope with all my heart this becomes a reality and hope they can get it into circulation A.S.A.P. once they determine if it works.Maybe I'm weird but reading about things like that just fill me with hope. If they can beat Aids (assuming they do it for real)... who knows what will be next.
