  1. I don't know what the matter with these XandrOS guys is. I entered my last found bug on July 13th, 2005 but the bug status is still "unconfirmed". They don't seem to really work on this beta program anymore, the beta forum is almost dead. Perhaps anyone has better experiences with this beta test? I just wanted to let you know, that in case you join this beta test, it's possible that nothing really happens. I wonder if we we will get our free XandrOS license when the beta test is over. I'm afraid we we will NOT get it. Beta GreetingZ

  2. Yes, big brother can TRY to kick our asses, but as long as the internet users keep their old versions of the Bittorrent client, I think there's nothing that can be done to stop people downloading files through bittorrent protocol. Maybe it will get harder to run a tracker, but I think since there's Exeem, a trackerless version ot bittorrent, users will always find a way to keep that thingy alive. Ok, leave your windows open ...

  4. One of the biggest mistakes are FLASH INTROS I think. The site visitors will hate it to click the "Skip Intro"-Button every time they visit your site. So even worse is a Flash Intro without the Skip Intro-Button! For me personally Flash itself is a mistake. There are internet users without Flash Plug-in, and others like me who simply turn Flash off because they don't like it. And blind people can't "see" what's going on in a flash movie.GrettingZ

  5. A CMS sure is a good move. It will give your visitors the possibility to take part in the creation of the content of your site, and if they do so, they will more and more look at it as their site. So in other words, they do the work but it's still your site. Really cool! B) The only CMS's I have tried out are Mambo and Intrexx (but you need MS Internet Information Server for Intrexx). Mambo appeared very easy to use to me, and you can find a pre-installation in your Xisto's cpanel. Like vujsa said, give it a try, if you don't like it, simply delete the directory. GreetingZ

  7. The Fidelio Suite is owned by Micros: https://www.oracle.com/de/industries/hospitality/index.html
There are several modules like Fidelio Front Office, Fidelio Roomplanner, Fidelio Engineering and so on ... Find a complete list HERE

This kind of software can hardly be found on the internet, because the software is not always being sold on CD, so even the Sysadmins don't have a CD. :P Check the hardware requirements before you buy. B)

Ah ... by the way ... Fidelio is the title of the only opera that Beethoven has ever written.

  8. Well i doubt that we can really answer the question who 'the winner is'. As far as I understand it, ASP and ASP.NET go further than PHP. You can use programming languages like C# and VB.Net inside ASP.NET as a whole, so you can programm real applications and let them run online on your website. The language ASP.NET itself is free, and Microsoft's ASP.NET Webmatrix editor is also for free.

If you're looking for other server software than Microsoft's Internet Information Server, try out the Cassini Webserver, nice and small and free. I would lso like to mention the Mono project. It's an open source framework for .NET applications.

  9. I think it's o.k. if people have their complaints against Microsoft. But I can't understand how people do complain AND use the software. If they don't like it or if they think it's not safe enough, they should simply not use it! They CAN buy an Apple Macintosh odr install Linux. If they don't know about alternative OS's, like solanky said, it's THEIR fault, not Microsoft's. I would recommend either complaining OR using MS software, but not both!GreetingZ

  10. I have a beautiful Compaq Proliant 3000 Server with a 7-disk-Hotplug-SCSI-Raid, it's pretty cool and real fast, BUT the whole **** is LOUD and uses a lot of VOLTAGE. So I agree with yordan that for the average user it would be better (and cheaper) to have one 160 GB disk than having 8 20 GB disks. I think systems like yours make sense if you're doing a lot of back-up stuff, or if you're running a RAID for performance or data security reasons. But I do very much understand that you love your box. ;) GreetingZ

  11. Hmm... my feeling was just the opposite ... I liked the fact that finally I've got the actual Windows XP that was supposed to make it's appearance and that they won't be improving any further on this anymore. It's finally Windows XP and not Home or Professional or Beta or testing or anything... just 'Windows XP' ;).

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That's what I mean. No class warfare anymore, no aristocracy anymore, bootscreen revolution has won - only ONE Windows XP for all.

Well, of course I won't let these bolchevists do that to me, and i immediately edited the bootscreen bitmap. Now I have a Windows XP Ultra Professional Platinum 2006 Edition. ;)
