  1. I use mambo open source, it is very easy add content and optimize site for search engines etc
  2. This is a good sum of uses, except the single users part. I singly use a computer which isn't a laptop.
  3. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/?utm_source=getfirefox-com&utm_medium=referral Yeah, just use mozilla firefox. The only problem is that you will have troubles streaming video. Go to: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/?utm_source=getfirefox-com&utm_medium=referral to download then go to Mozila firefox tweeks to improve the speed in which you can browse at.
  4. The only thing I don't like is that you can't send .exe files. Hotmail which allows these files and scansis better, but of cource offers barely any favourable features. Gmail is good for keeping backups etc of your emails. Thats what I do anyway
  5. I actually think the main thing is the great speed and functionabiliy advantage on desktop PC's. For example there is a lot of cooling space in a desktop so the computer can be ovoerclocked to greater speeds than it already is. The same heat issue effects the type of CPU that can be installed into a laptop. It has to be a low heat CPU, which means the cache level has to be lower than desktops. The main advantage I think is the space that desktops have for parts.
  6. Thanks I will use this on my website and see if I generate more hits by using the information provided. Its great the amount of website hit maximization tuatorials that are on this forum
  7. I notice you are in the group banned, maybe that is why it is not working? your account has been suspended?
  8. I just use WS_FTP_LE its free and it lets you easily change the CHMOD settings ect on your files, so its an all around good toll to use. I am sure all the ones mentioned here are also good thought
  9. It will only take the time that it takes for your domain name changes to propergate. Its usually I find only a few hours.
  10. Its probably a temporary server problem, its happened to me aswell, if you change the setting to FTP it should work, just put ftp.yoursite.astahost.com I think.
  11. Yes, I think so, but you should upgrade to frontpage 2003 if you want to experience advanced features of the frontpage. In frontpage under remote site settings make sure frontpage/sharpoint services is checked and that you type your web as http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. And edit your index.htm to get your website working.
  12. I think the greatest challenege of website design is to make it "STICKY" like you said. So thanks for all this information on how to do so. I will have a look and apply it to my website, which is rather lacking at the moment.
  13. Frontpage 2003 also allows you to use FTP, infact it lets you use: FTP, frontpage services, sharepoint services, webdav, and remote system protocol.
  14. haha, frontpage isn't that bad, maybe it is because you people are using frontpage 2002 or below. Frontpage 2003 uses templates which make changing the look of your website so easy! Just by editing one file, all the pages in your website are changed, ready for uploading. If the server you are uploading to have frontpage 2003 extensions installed then you can do the updating online and not even have to upload. There is nothing to hate there
  15. Thanks, this has been helpful.I have been using mambo open source for about a year now. Its a very good content management system. Gives the user extensive control over their website content.
