Whoa. Sure looks flashy. Linuxers may not like its bloatedness, but the Windows Newbies might--depends on how you look at it. Who knows? Good thing Linux has some time to come up with their own products before Longhorn finally comes out.

Opera is The Best. Firefox is Better. IE is... well...

I wish I had static. Not crummy dynamic that changes every time I connect. Stupid router and dyndns.com.

One word: Google. You can partition the drive for Linux and 98 (I think). Mac will run under an emulator.

There was a random vowel password generator. This way, it's easy to remember and safe. Example: giliboogabywa. Sadly, they discontinued use of it because it may unintentionally generate profanity.

Duuh. Windows is an Operating System and Linux is a kernel. I know what you meant, but hey. -
Web Browsers Which Browser type do u prefer?
Dyth replied to hast-webben's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'll tell you what. Get Firefox, go install a bunch of extensions and skins, and you probably still have not half of Opera's powers. The skins are beautiful and it's really advanced and really customizable. Firefox's nothing compared to the mature Opera. It's still in Neverland. Most Firefox users (on this board, anyway) only like it because they have not seen better. P.S: I don't have anything against Firefox. It's waay superior to IE, though inferior to Opera. -
Whoa. Thanks, Boten. Terragen's amazing.

Why Do People Talk About What Linux Looks Like ?
Dyth replied to qwijibow's topic in Websites and Web Designing
See, person. Most people are either stupid and think Linux=GNU/Linux, or they are lazy and don't want to bother to type the GNU since everyone knows what you mean anyway. Then for the looks, most neophytes say that because they think Red Hat, Mandrake, or SuSE are the whole of what GNU/Linux looks like. Newcomers. And Fluxbox is the prrreettiest and neeeaatest of the window managers. KDE and Gnome are monstrosities after you have tried Fluxbox. -
I clicked on some back when my Opera was non-registered. I like them. But no, I don't think the ads on the sites are good. It's only when a big panel of ads dangle at your face that you notice them.

Sounds pretty good for MSN. Sample test: 52,885,958 containing joe - 0.15 sec. --msn 56,700,000 for joe - 0.08 sec. --google 43,600,000 for joe - 0.14 sec.--yahoo So it returns more results than yahoo, but is slower. Google reigns supreme with search results AND speed. But seems like msn is not that far off. Interesting to see what Microsoft will come up with next, now that it has entered the search engines market.

Overview Of Firefox Extensions--part 1 Whatever your needs.
Dyth replied to Dyth's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I did say it's a part 1, y'know. -
Did anybody read Neal Stephenson's novel, Snow Crash? In it, the "Metaverse" is the second version of the Internet and very virtual reality--3-D, any persona, etc. The Metaverse is really not that far away from the present Internet, and what would happen if it really becomes born? Something that real is bound to cause even more illusions than the present 2-D one--even when communication is almost only by typing, many have become deluded and absorbed in their cyberlife. Besides, it doesn't matter if the Internet didn't exist in Plato's time. Human behavior is all the same.

If you are a total neophyte, read the Firefox Extensions Guide first. Web Developer. This is absolutely ESSENTIAL, a wonderful toolbar with loads of features. View cookies, convert things, it's ALL there. Dict. Never be ashamed of your tiny vocabulary again! Just highlight a Big Word, right click, and look it up!EggOn. Make the perfect egg with this tiny egg timer. Pretty sweet. :)Opine-It. Comment on any site on the web. It's not that wonderful since there aren't too many commented sites. But if you want to help to make it better, that's nice. SwitchProxy. Not a substitute for Proxomitron, but good. You can use multiple proxies and let them switch at any time. Yay for anonymity or a faster connection! Sage. Click on the wise button and read all your RSS and Atom feeds. Click on the wise button again and go back to web browsing. Google pagerank. Yep, that's the only reason you are not happy. You just want the pagerank. Well fear not! This displays a little page rank on the bottom of your screen. Glance back anytime. FlashGot. Lets Moz and Fire make massive downloads using the most popular external downloaders. I never really used it. But it looks OK.Context Search. Double click on a query, right click, pause on the Web Search for "query", and out comes all your search plugins! Very useful. Conquery. Pretty similar to Context Search. You will have to discover the differences yourself as I can't remember--being using Opera for months. Well, that's it for now. I will post some more later. Hopefully this was useful.

Dyth replied to cryptonx's topic in Science and Technology
Microsoft will either rule the world or fall disgracefully. No other way. -
Well, I hope Troubadour's informative post answered your question. If not, check Google. There are tons of wonderful PS sites out there, and your questions may have been answered a zillion times already.

White background and dark texts usually do the trick for professional sites. But, if they are going to be doing a lot of reading, I recommend a light gray or beige against dark texts.I've seen a lot of companies with a black background and green/white/etc. texts, and that usually gives me a low impression, specially because it hurts the eyes. Much worse than simple white bg and dark text. Anyway, I recommend the first style for your index and maybe the second for some others. It would also be nice to provide some themes. Look at Yahoo and MSN.

It's really about the size and look, y'know. Not the processing power and not the need to buy a new keyboard, mouse, etc. IT'S PRETTY AND TINY. 'kay?
