  1. So what your telling me is I can come up with any theory, as false as it my be, and because it can't be disproved, its true! Come on! Your reply only re-enforces the point in my post. If it can't be proved, one has to have faith to believe in it, thus it is a religion, not science.
  2. I'll have to hit the books on the angular momentum theroy before I relinquish the point. Regarding the rest of your post, my post was attempting to make the point that the big bang and evolution theories are just that, theories. They can't be proven thus require faith to believe in them, thus they too are a religion. Regarding natural selection, I believe micro evolution happens in species, ie/ex. the fact that we have both fresh and salt water fish. We know that with each passing day the sea gets a little saltier as run-off occurs. At a point in time past, the seas had to be fresh water and have gooten saltier with as stated, the run-off. Take the average salt water fish, which has adapted with time and put it in fresh water and it will die and vise versa. This IS NOT evolution, this is adaptation, or I even give you micro evolution. What the evolutionist is teaching my grandchildren in school is that a bit of protoplasium somehow formed out of the dirt and over million of years somehow formed into humans, to keep it short. Can't buy it, I'm sorry. In my example above both the fresh and salt water fish are still a fish. One did not "evolve" into a dog. They are the same species. Show an example of where one species has evolved into another. Find me that missing link.
  3. I have to go with subdomains. Each is its own site and treated accordingly by the search engine indexing spiders. Your links are external each pointing to each other thus helping to improve your internet popularity and page rankings.
  4. I use Corel Draw for my graphics. Not Because I'm in love with it, but because I am self taught and don't have time to learn another program. It meets my needs.
  5. I like the layout... not much for war games though. I think you will do well with it as gaming is huge
  6. As the others have stated, you do not have to copyright your stuff. You may, however have to prove it is your stuff one day if someone steals it and attempts to copyright it for themselves. There is a cheaper way than the $25 though. If it is a site you are talking about, simply burn it to cd and mail it to yourself then file it. Should the need arise, it is strong evidence in a court of law proving the material to be yours. Been there, done it.Accorind to the documentation I read about the hosting regulations here, we are not to use the web space for personal storage. If it is part of your site cool, otherwise I don't think it is allowed.
  7. This is not the question we need to ask ourselves. I believe in God, but I can't tell you how He came into being. I believe the Bible. He has always been, and always will be. That is why it is called religional. "A theory requiring faith". However, for those of you who have bought the lie of the big bang theory, here is a perspective that you may have not considered. You cannot prove evolution. It is a theroy full of holes that is being programmed into our youth in a state run school system. Where did the matter come from that made up the so called first universe. How did it come into being? Where did the energy come from to cause it to crumble into a dot? Also, where did the energy come from to cause this dot to spin and explode? I turn 47 on Thursday, it has been a while since I was in a science class, but isn't it the universal law of angular motion, or something to that effect, that states; all of the pieces of a spinning object that explodes will rotate in the same direction of that of the origanal piece? This is a law of nature. That being the case, how is it that if all of the matter in the universe came from this spinning dot, why don't all of the planets, moons, etc. spin in the same direction? You can't change a law of nature. It is phyically impossible for any orphan object to spin in the opposite direction of the parent object which exploded, yet we have planets and moons spinning in different directions. There are countless examples that prove the big bang theory and evolution are a false theory, made up by men and women who choose to believe in it. They can't prove it, only theorize. If they can't prove it, they have to believe in it by faith. Just as my faith in God is a religion, likewise, so is their faith in evolution. The only difference is that their religion is being publically supported in our state run school system, and it is almost a crime now a days to even mention Jesus in school. A bit unfair I would say. There are two side to every coin. If you believe in evolution, it is only because it is the only perspective you have been taught to believe. Hitler said that if you tell a lie long enough, people will believe it. It is not my attempt here to try to convert anyone. Let each man work out his own salvation, but if your faith in evolution is based on what you learned in school, I would encourage you to explore the other alternative, or at least try to find documented scientific evidence to support your theory. A few more questions: The source or mouth of the Colorado river is below the rim of the Grand Canyon. Are you trying to tell me that the Colorado river flowed up hill for millions of years to carve the canyon? Another law of nature broken! Where on the planet can I find the Geological column intact as taught in the textbooks? No where! The scientists judge that age of a fossil by the layer of strata it was found in. And, on the other hand, they judge the age of the strata layer by the fossils that are found in it. Doesn't make sense to me. Why won't they carbon date a dinosaur bone? Maybe because the bone is not millions and millions of years old and carbon dating proves it. The true age of a dinosaur bone would prove the theory of evolution wrong. If you believe in evolution it may be because it is the only perspective that you have been taught. Here again I encourage you to do your own research. Check out http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. In the header click the online seminar link and download the seven seminars evolution. (approxiamately 11 hours of scientific evidence proving the falsehood of evolution)
  8. Without a doubt, the red header. I think the design is more in tune with the product and services being offered. At first glance the blue site looked like something out of Peter Pan. It is a nice site no doubt, but in my opinion, the design doesn't match the content.Good Luck on your decision.
  9. I like these sites to find good scripts. (javascripts, php, cgi, ASP amd more) http://a1javascripts.com/: belongs to a webmaster web ring. Links to graphical, cgi, php, and other web resources http://cgi.resourceindex.com/ http://www.getcruising.com/crypt/ - check this one if not just to get a kick out of the site. http://www.freescripts.com/ http://braincode.com/ http://megacgi.com/ That ought to keep you busy for a night or two. Great sites!
  10. This script is very close to post #5.Either one works fine.<script language="JavaScript"><!-- Beginif (window != top) top.location.href = location.href;// End --></script>
  11. If you are designing a site for small businesses, the place to start is in the initial conference concerning the project. You have to understand what it is they are attempting to accomplish with their site.Next I consider the scripting that will be required. Scripts requiring templates will play a factor in the final design decision. I pay close attention to the client, trying to gain a perspective on their personality in hopes of incorporating it into the design. It is also important to review their current marketing strategies and advertisements. Get any digitized logos, ads, text about themselves as possible. If the meeting is at their location, it should be so that you are able to get a better understanding of exactly what it is they do, and how they go about it, take alot of pictures of the facility, the employees, equipment, etc. When you actually sit down to do the site, do a mock up on paper. This is primariliy for navigation purposes. I usually only mock up the index page. The goal is to have any piece of primary information within 3 clicks of the index page, hopefull this is accomplished in 2 or even 1.I have found that doing this mock-up for link purposes really helps to get the creative juices flowing. From it you will be able to determine what kind of, and location of the navbars, the rest of the page usually falls into place after that You begin to visualize the various pieces of art and photo placements, then it is downhill from there. It also dosen't hurt to search related sites on the net for ideas. I usually do this after the mock up, looking for a better possible way to the navigation for the links Ineed to accomplish the clients goals. One thing to remember, if you do this for a living, you have to find some middle ground between design time and the compenstaion received. In the beginning I gave away alot of scripting time in order to impress the client with quality of work I could do. That doen't feed the family. Getting paid for the scripting your doing does. If they want a Lexus, let them have it, but charge them for it. Hopefully this will help. We all get writer's blocks and stare at blank screens, regardless of how many sites you have designed.
  12. Go to ezscripting.co.ukThey have a nice database suite that will do what you need and and a whole lot more. It is free, with inexpensive up-grades. It works javascript and excell can be imported. From wed based forms you can write to the database and also retrieve data. If you are new, these scripts are well documented with BBB/FAQ/and email support. The stand alone free version should help you. ^_^I have just found this suite and am excited about finally being able to create data bases, write to them, and exract data all from a web-based forms I create easily. I can't believe it is free.
  13. Here is alot lighter script to do the job. It is a cross browser script as well. <script language="JavaScript1.2"> var bookmarkurl="URL Here"; var bookmarktitle="Title Here"; function addbookmark(){ if (document.all) window.external.AddFavorite(bookmarkurl,bookmarktitle); } </script> <a href="java script: addbookmark()">Bookmark Us</a>
  14. There is a time and place for everything. Flash is nice, but the load time can be a killer for the info seeker who is in a hurry. They usually want answers, not entertainment. The conception stage of the site is where to deside to use flash or not. If your sites are tageting specific info seekers and not just surfers than I would say no to any flash at all. In addition, search engine spiders are unable to index any of the content as it is embedded code on another document. It doesn't follow the link.If you must, contain it in a data cell above a content table or something to that effect. That way there is some flash effect on the page, but the content remains visible to the spiders.
  15. Type Anfy into your search engine. In the top 3 sites or so will be the Anfy home page. You will find downloadable program "Anfy" that has the ability to write your required snowflake script as well as 50 or so more additional effects through a simple point and click interface. Been using it for about three years now. He up-grades and adds new abilities from time to time.
  16. AceHTMLPro5 has a great CSS feature that implements the code directly into your page. Solid documentation in the Help Section (easy to get to when you need it).
  17. Type Anfy into your search engine. You can find a neat JavaTM code generator here, as well as others. It provides a simple point and click interface that creates some great affects on the site. Easy to use.
  18. http://www.brainjar.com/ has an excellent drop down menu simular to the one on msn. There is good support at the site as well.
  19. I like AceHtmlPro:learned on 4, am using 5, and look forward to purchase the upgrade to 6It writes quick clean code with tremendous documentation and references for HTML, Javascript, CSS, and SSI a click away. A great tool for those who like to learn on the fly. I use CoffeeCup Firestarter to write flash, btnMaker for quick buttons, and Anfy Java TM for enhancements.
  20. I am self taught in html, javascript, and learning cgi. I don't necessarily like scripting, or even design. What I enjoy is the conception most. How to accomplish the desired feat and what scripts are necessary to do so.I use AceHTMLPro 5 for most of my design work.
  21. The problem isn't a flash problem, I believe it is a frame direct issue. This can be easily solve with a simple javascript. Place this code in the head tag of your documet, or just above the link itself: <script><!-- function linkName(){ parent.target frame here.location.href='Desired URL Here' } //--> </script> The anchor tag in the calling link would be: <a href="java script: linkName()" onclick="window.focus()">Whatever</a> Do this for each link changing the link name and desired URL accordingly. Below is an example of a roll over image script calling the above java script from the head tag: <script language="JavaScript">SecondImage00='image1.gif0';</script> <a href="java script: linkName()" on click="window.focus" onMouseOver="{OrigImage00=img00.src; img00.src=SecondImage00} " onMouseOut="img00.src=OrigImage00"> <img alt="" name="img00" border="0" src="image2.gif0" onLoad="TempImage00=new Image(0,0); TempImage00.src=SecondImage00"></a> Hope this helps.
  22. Personally, I like frames. They allow for quick navigation through alot of links, allow for precise design control, and with my editor, they are easily built. The problem I have with them, however, is they are not search engine friendly. While I do use frame quite extensively beneath the top level directory in my design as administration pages, form pages, and such, I will never use them as an index page, a top level directory page, or as an index page in any of my sub directories. The idea is to give the search engine spider something to index. With a frame page there is no content to index, thus far, far, fewer hits. Snag the surfer with a solid static page then, if you desire make use of frames in the internal structure of the site.
