First of all, that is fantastic, as is the stuff on your site. Just curious, are you self taught or did you get schooling? I have been thinking about going to design school myself, so if you went I would like your thoughts on it. Also, I would like any comments you have on my art, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and my best piece that I haven't added to that page yet, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ All the ones not done in pencil were done directly in photoshop. You have a very painterly style, and I would really like to pick that up.

There are parts like that, but I think you are giving the book a bit too little credit. The Bible certainly contains parts that are harsh and judgemental, but it also has parts(especially the new testament) that are more concilatory and profound. The problem is less with the book than the way people interpret it, such as believing that other religions are all 'of the devil' or that everyone is going to hell if they don't accept certain beliefs. These views are the things that cause problems and suffering(and aren't those the domain of the devil? Just for irony?), not the book some people supposedly base those views on. You can find wisdom in just about anything if you look for it, just as you can find hate. What you find is more of a commentary on who is looking than what they see.

What Is Your Position On Gun Control ?
MajesticTreeFrog replied to Jguy101's topic in General Discussion
A good martial arts school won't just teach techniques, but also how to read a situation and keep out of trouble to begin with. The best way to win a fight is not to get into one. Even if you had a gun, if you fought and both were good shots then you would both be dead. That still isn't a good solution. Far better to find ways to not have guns involved at all. On the other hand, good 'gun management' to me means training people so that there aren't any accidental deaths. There are currently quite a few in the US, so even that would make things much better. Correct education also involves teaching legal gun owners how to store guns so that they don't fall into the hands of criminals or young people who might do something stupid(see the comment about accidental deaths....). -
If you really want to deal with spyware, get Spybot, Adaware, and the new Microsoft Anti-Spyware. Then use all three. You can set the microsoft one to scan every night, and use the other two sporadically. The reason to use all three is that they all catch spyware the others don't. This way, you get the most stuff off of your system. All three of them are free, so there is no reason not do go ahead and get the best possible overall solution.

For those of you who used bittorrent and used LokiTorrent, the MPAA just got ahold of their server logs. If you go to lokitorrent now you will see a....message(read:Fascist threat) from the MPAA to downloaders. Anyway, just a heads up to you guys.

Go find a processor between 100-150 dollars. Spend 50 on a MB from shuttle. Spend the rest on RAM. I know this because I did an upgrade with the exact same amount of money to my name. You will get a pretty nice system.

Pc Vs Console Which 1 Is better. pc or console
MajesticTreeFrog replied to ThinkEr1405241472's topic in General Discussion
But ~$1000 for a *Gaming* PC vs like 200-300 for a console. If all you are doing is gaming, the console makes more sense, monetarily. Unless you are a FPS junkie. Then you don't have a choice but PC. -
Windows Xp Or Mac Os X
MajesticTreeFrog replied to enterthematrix's topic in Websites and Web Designing
There is an attempt to do it through linux, via PearPC. Also, there are linux 'skins' or 'themes' that can make it at least look like OSX. Also, there is GNUstep, which is an OSS implementation of NeXTStep(which apple bought to turn into OSX). So, maybe all of these will combine to become an OSS OSX. That would be nice. -
The Best Operating System
MajesticTreeFrog replied to whannagan's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Its getting better, two new conversion software things came out recently. If either of them are better/cheaper than Virtual PC then all these compatibility issues that people are having will go away. Other than that, hasn't this thread been talked to death? -
The 6x8 tablet is a very good size. Bigger and its hard to use it to full effect, smaller can feel cramped. Sadly, a good 6x8 tablet is $330, though its worth it. The new intuos 3 line is fantastic.

Support Those Who Support You. What can I do to keep it free?
MajesticTreeFrog replied to NilsC's topic in Software
I agree completely. Its not much to ask at all, especially since there are so many different subjects to post about. -
The other nice thing about caffeine is that it is a good headache medication. As for side affects, unless you take a TON, the worst you will get is the jitters. The problem is that people use it to stay awake/alert but then never give their body the rest it needs.

Mac Mini Will it convert Windows users?
MajesticTreeFrog replied to Space Orangutan #2's topic in Science and Technology
You can upgrade a computer for that amount of money, but it won't be silent and small, which is usefull for some people. It also won't run OSX, which for me is worth a lot more than pure processing speed. That being said, APlle really needs to up the memory in these machines to 512. OSX simply needs that much, and people buying the 'base system' will get something that won't perform nearly as well as it would with that extra ram. It might even turn people off, which would be sad, considering how awesome OSX is. As for expandability, USB2 and Firewire are really all you need, and it has both. Its been a long long time since I have had to pop open my PC case anyway. -
I think what people are failing to do is distinguish between the historical account of events and the interpretation of those events recorded in semi-historical writings such as the bible. It should come as no surprise that the bible records accurate historical information, as it was not only a religious record but also a historical record. Thus, like all such historical records, it is about as accurate as anything else. On the other hand, that history is shown through the lens of the culture recording it. Thus, when something happens, the ancient Hebrews wrote that God caused it. They can be right about something happening, but wrong about why. For instance, take the Epic of Gilgamesh, another ancient bit of writing. The events recorded in the epic have historical counterparts, despite the epic being nowhere near as well preserved as the bible. Does that mean that the gods and such of the ancient summerians are real? No, it doesn't.

What If Microsoft........
MajesticTreeFrog replied to qwijibow's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Except they can't buy linux or even BSD. Otherwise they probably would have. -
Anyone who hasn't tried Azureus should do so. Its easily the best BT client I have used. Its also totally multi-platform, if that matters to anyone here.

Windows Code Name Longhorn(lh)
MajesticTreeFrog replied to givn1405241478's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Actually I am not much into penguins or foxes. Maybe if it had a frog theme.... Anyway, I just think it isn't any improvement on the current Windows look, and if anything wastes more space and is less usefull. I also think the way they are going about the 3d interface is wrong. Turning windows sideways is great eye candy, but its not helpfull for useability. (that they are using 3d tech to display the windows on the other hand is a good idea, and makes total sense). Basically, from what i have seen: Idea good, implementation bad(and ugly). -
Windows Code Name Longhorn(lh)
MajesticTreeFrog replied to givn1405241478's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Once again, still ugly, and I just don't see the point of the rotating windows thing. -
Well, inspired is different from 'copy'. Bill definitely did exactly what you said. And for a long time, windows continued to badly rip off macOS. Then mac OS stopped growing, and around windows2k they were about the same. Then, OSX came out, and things were back to normal. As for the 90% of free software you use being for windows, chances are there are equal if not better things for mac that you don't know about because you don't use one.

Windows Xp Or Mac Os X
MajesticTreeFrog replied to enterthematrix's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Actually, Steve Jobs was the person who founded NeXT. When he was put in charge of apple, they knew they needed a new OS, so he looked at BeOS and NeXT. BeOS asked too much so Apple BOUGHT NeXT. So, apple didn't steal it. They ARE NeXT now. -
Windows was not originally a mac OS. Bill didn't copy macOS other than how it looked. If you have ever used the old windows and mac OS's then you would know that they are miles apart in terms of what they could do and how well they did it. This is still the case, mac OS and windows are both GUI based Desktop os's. However, after looks, the OS on the mac is still far ahead of windows. And software compatibility is just fine. You simply are not aware of the software for mac because you don't use one. For instance, Windows is completely incompatible with a program called quicksilver for OSX. Not only that, but as far as I know there is NO peice of software for windows that can do what it does. It all depends on which peices of software you need things to be compatible with. If its games, go with windows. If its major software packages(especially graphics) then either win or mac is fine. If its high end graphics work, mac. If its extremely slick utilities like quicksilver, mac. If its server software, mac or linux/unix. If its software for education, mac. If its random **** off the net, windows.

The reason this doesn't work on IE is that it doesn't have built in support for international domain names built in. If you install the plugin, IE is also affected. So, yeah, EVERY browser is affected. My question is, why is IDN **** turned on at all in these browsers by default? As for firefox being unhackable, that isn't anywhere near true. There have been plenty of holes found so far. The reason it is more secure is that it isn't IE and people just don't go after it as much. That will change in time. When that happens, you can be sure that the OSS community will begin to fix it all. This may be the beginning of that cycle.

Well, at least these pics are an improvement. Still ugly though.
