Dark Side Of The Moon why is it always the same side?
marijnnn replied to palestranger's topic in Science and Technology
haha, go to your geomitry classes dude!cool thing is: american kids always see the other side than we do. -
oooooh google this google that, blablablagive them your virginity, but stop whining & praising them. google is good, sure. but that doesn't guarantee their browser to be great...
-
sure, i knew all that. but why make another language. javascript itself is pretty good. it's the browsers and the users that make it sucky.you could compare it to dynamite, which was invented to do good, and does the job very well, but people use it for the wrong purposes.most incompatibilities are because of the dom structure anyway, not because of javascript

Media Player 10 has released. try it and tell me...
marijnnn replied to lheea's topic in Websites and Web Designing

i agree when talking about articles, but damn, it's a frikkin joke.. what should he do, tell what you'll be seeing and ruin the joke and then post the link?
-
well, you sure as hell should keep in mind that some people have javascript disabled, which isn't as stupid as some might think.so if your site depends on javascript, it sucks hehe.i use javascript for my login system (i calculate in md5 hash of my password before i post my form. like that, someone sniffing the network won't be able to get my password...), but only because i'm the only one who is supposed to log in anyway and i have javascript enabled, so that's no problem.dhtml.. nonono!

i'd like to contradict that:a good site is one that doesn't have too much movement & animation. it has to be fast, clear, handy and have a good placement of information. most companies use tables. div's are as old as tables and are cool to position one element. i wouldn't call them more difficult. TABLES!

yeah, you are right. only php 5 does not require it i guess. still, i would really like to use it

stuck again.so i used a script from php.net to include a file in the same directory. it's trying to include the file alright, but i get this error:Warning: dl(): Unable to load dynamic library './/home/marijnnn/public_html/yourshadow/exif.so' - .//home/marijnnn/public_html/yourshadow/exif.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in /home/marijnnn/public_html/yourshadow/test.php on line 48i think this is out of my hands. however exif doesn't require any other module, it won't work. i'm clueless and hoping the admins will get exif installed. after all, it's a harmless module.
-
ok, got some things written out and concluded this:host is linux. has linux filesystem for sureso mastercomputers, your script won't help me any further.i got the contents of some folder written out (like /usr/lib/php, ...) and concluded that the exif.so file just isn't there.so my possibilities are:*get my own exif.so file, upload it, and try to include it, which will be a bit harder, but there's a script at php.net that might work...*hope that my pm to opaque will get result and the administration will install the rpm i sent them and enable exif.that would be cool.for now: waiting
-
hmz still not getting there :)heeeeelup.i tried to print the entire directory structure so i knew what the abspath was, but off course, i have no access to most of the foldersif somebody could tell me where the extensions really are on the server, like an absolute path, that would help a lot..../ just won't get me anywhere
-
hm, apearently, the exif extension is not enabled by default on the Xisto server.i'd really like to use it so i tried to load it dynamicly. too bad, this didn't work too well. i tried these lines:dl ("exif.so");dl("php_exif.dll"); // just i case it was a windows server :)dl("exif");none of these worked. please help me out here. did anybody here did a dynamic include in one of his scripts? if so, how did you do it? extensions dir is "./" here, and i've read there've been problems with that but i haven't looked into it very well yet.me
-
yeah, but all the extensions are disabled atmgd, exif,...i am using truecolor, don't worry :)it works fine on my own computer, but it's not working with Xisto. but i've heard/read that they are having problems, so i'll just wait till those are solved...
-
hm, apearently it's not working atm. it worked before, but today it's all ****ed up. php says it doesn't know the function imagecreatefromjpeg... help!
-
well, to give you an idea what you could use this for: thumbnailsi'm a lazy kid so i upload my pictures with ftpthen some guy/girl visits my site and my picture pagehe opens the directory with the new picturesthe script checks all the pictures and checks if they all have a thumbnail (if a filed is called blabla.jpg, the thumb is called .blabla.jpg, so it's invisible too)if there isn't, i make one with gd!!! it's great. i never have to make pages anymore, never make thumbs,...gd rocks quite a lot!

if it's from google it's good? i've heard they released some software to search through your computer the way google searches through his sites, in order to find your files faster. it's called google desktop.last week, the paper said that it's kinda spyware: even after you delete files, it keeps them stored in the cache and it could be used to watch your files & stuff... kinda unsafe...still, google is quite cool. best search engine around as far as i know. the googlebar with pop up blocker is nice, even though you don't need it if you have firefox :)gmail is cool too :)still, i would never say something is good because it's from this or that company

nah, if he can access the other computers, he could easily install a limiting program. like "net limiter" (which is paid). but if the others know something about computers, they might shut net limiter down and surf at topspeed again. but if it's for your mom or if the users don't mind, you could do this.otherwise: routerconfiguration as stated above

Jokes About Immigrance Few nice jokes
marijnnn replied to Helios1405241471's topic in General Discussion
i second that. -
i agree with lhunath. limits:let's say i'm running straight to a wall, at about 15miles/h or 25km/hfirst, i get halfway. then i get halfway of that halfetc...if you wouldn't use limits, this would tell you that i would never reach the wallif i start at 8 meters, i'll go to 4 meters, then 2 meters, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8,..., 1/1024,... but i'd never really reach the wall. too bad for my head, the limit is 0

i don't think one should compare jpeg with pngyou can easily png & gif, they kinda use the same method if i'm not mistaken. drop colours. but due to rights & quality, png will be the best option if you have to choose between these twojpeg works different. it divides your image in zones. so where you'll use colours with gif, you'll use detail in jpegjpeg will work best on images that have a lot of colours. it'll even work better if big, simple-shaped zones have the same colour.gif & png will work best on drawings, because those only have a limited amount of colours. so you can use them for icons & stuff.
