  1. Photoshop, is primarily geared for image manipulations, (not for illustrations or draftings) although it contains little aids for vector drawing or illustrations..pencil, pen and shapes..you could click options alt, shift, or ctrl for options, like for straight lines, angle, fixed shapes or whatever. If you want more options for illustrations and vector graphics...you should try CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator.
  2. Upon submission, it takes weeks before Google adds you to the "site to crawl" list. You should check...a week or two. Effective <meta> helps a lot. Now with regards to your forum...to allow google to crawl it correctly, I think you need this guest session hack.. http://www.phpbbstyles.com/viewtopic.php?t=357

  4. keywords in <meta> tags.... you could search google to find out more about <meta> or you could click here https://searchenginewatch.com/sew/how-to/2067564/how-to-use-html-meta-tags most fall into the pitfall of spamming it in their webpages cause they believe it is a way to gain higher rank.. but actually it isnt, oftentimes it results to suspension (temporary or permanent) of webpages from search engine listings.
  5. personal point of views..Do's1. A website should have concept. If your website is about games or whatever, it should have that "gaming concept" etc...2. Well-structured, concise and useful content, are the most important components of a successful site.3. Be logical on your content. If your website is geared for tourist destinations, the best way to attract them is to post images, not through writing lengthy paragraphs.4. Think about your audience. Are they newbies which needs clean navigation, direction and interface, are they professionals, or are they advance users which considers simple websites as boring.5. Monitor screen sizes consideration. Personally a website fixed for 1024x768 looks awful in a 800x600 monitor.6. Clear navigation is a must. If your visitors get lost, they would leave the site.7. Test your site in different browsers. Dont stick on IE. Test it on Opera, Firefox, Safari, etc..8. Good color combination. Use "web friendly colors".9. Think about the people who will be maintaining the site. Are they capable of understanding complicated scripts and coding?10. Compress images. We have friendly softwares like photoshop.11. As much as possible, follow W3C standards.12. Keep your site fresh.13. <Meta> title, keywords, description in relation to your content. Dont's..1. Bad Graphic layout. Out of the concept graphics, most creates sites without figuring out first what will it look like in the first place. We have Photohop to aid us on this. Create a layout first in Photoshop, navigation, texts, etc.. then cut it up and creativity follows...coding, scripts, contents etc..2. Microsoft Frontpage Extensions. Its really unprofessional I should say.3. If you can't be rigorously self-honest about your weaknesses and limitations, site output will be poor..Set self limitations. If your a bad writer, get an aid from professional writers..if your not good in graphics, dont pretend as if you are one. Seek the aid from more knowledgeable ones. Be open for suggestions.4. Avoid keyword spamming.
  6. I think you should consider here the discrepancy, or difference between the time of the server where the forum is hosted and the time in your locality. If it is 5 hours off you should choose a higher timezone. (not necessarily the default time zone of your locality since the basis of Phpbb I think is the time from where it is hosted).
  7. As far as I know evolution is a continuous, unending process..if somehow this theory is true, I still wonder why do apes still exists nowadays...they should evolve into humans too. Centuries have passed by, apes are still apes and humans are still humans. Humans should have evolved into some higher level of lifeform, 3 legs, four arms or whatever. As far as I could see apes and chimpz on Animal Planet or in Zoos, evolution is still a theory for me.
  8. My vote goes for 3dmax. It is flexible and advance, files created in it are highly supported/integrated/exported to professional softwares like AutoCAD. (well, since autodesk acquired it 3dmax.) But if you are only after renders etc.. Cinema4D would suffice.
  9. Neither good or bad. Frames and Iframes are not bad at all for me..it is a simple way to reduce bandwith consumption of websites. (well aside "cache friendly" websites or simply graphicaly reduced ones). Instead of reloading the whole page page, contents could just be reloaded in frames or iframes. But personally I hate viewing sites full of frames.
  10. White background against dark texts and blue links, will always do the trick. It connotes simplicity and professionalism. Most sucessful website applies this principle, like Yahoo and Google. If you want usersto read your contents, white is the best color to use. Nuetral colors are the safest colors to use too.
  11. As far as I know rates are based on how much advertisers will pay. Like some advertisement on adwords will pay 6 cents, other 3, etc.. per click.ranking well on google, well relevance will help too, relevance of your sites url, title, keyword, description to your content..
  12. Photoshop's advance lasso and crop tools are definitely the best. Photoshop also supports mac platforms. The worst part of is its loading time.
  13. swish max is somehow crippled with features compared to macromedia flash mx, but its the best choice if your on a tight budget and low system resources.
  14. http://alltooflat.com/geeky/elgoog/ a reversed google
  15. The most annoying thing about Flash nowadays is its now being used for large advertisements...(like in YahooMail). Anyway there are people who blocks flash sometimes especially those with slow dial up connections and low system resources like me. I dont like visiting a full flash site...Flash would be cool though if it will be used as a part of the site like headers or effects etc.., for navbars, nyah!, I personally dont like it. It wont allow you that "open in new page" option. btw.. http://forums.xisto.com/ http://forums.xisto.com/ are cool examples of sites with flash.
  16. google has a blog too... https://blog.google/ well more options here... https://www.google.com/options/index.html
  17. Off topic. I think this topic should belong to graphic design...not here...but anyway.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  18. most sites that contains either photoshop or psp tutorials are those sites which has very good graphic layout. html..no flash etc.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ this one is in php...the best layout ive seen so far.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  19. I sometimes use pixia. Its for free, very nice and easy to learn. Gimp is good too, runs smooth on linux but buggy on windows. They are not as powerful compared to those propriety softwares but they are the best free alternative around.
  20. Im a bit confused about your question because you mention invisionfree which I assume http://www.zifboards.com/(assuming'>http://www.zifboards.com/(assuming you mean http://www.zifboards.com/)If you dont have the access rights (download and upload) to files in invisionfree, it aint possible. All you could ever do is follow what lxcid told you and use existing available uploaded skins on invisionfree or request to the admin of invisionfree to install more skins. I dont know if invisionsfree allows you to edit come codes...but they have this service you could further edit your board, positions etc..(assuming you mean your very own invisionboard in your account here)You could those free invision resource websites like http://www.invisionize.com/ , download skins hacks, portals etc.. and follow instructions regarding uploading and altering files. A read me is usually included. Be aware of what version of Invision board you have.
  21. vbulletin would be the best one if it would be for free, or a working trial version of it would be available. since its not, my choice is Invision. I like PhpBB but it is crippled with some features (although you could install mods on it).
  22. Google! Simply because..Google is more credible. Results of google are based on algorithm. Its more accurate, relevant, faster and Google frequently reindex sites. http://www.akamarketing.com/google-ranking-tips.html And I like Google's simplicity. It supports lots of languages. And submissions are free, rankings are based on algorithm. I dont like the "pay to have a higher rank" practice of Inktomi+Yahoo+Overture etc.. and Lycos.
  23. Im still using an old school windows 98 microsoft will be ending its support for win98 next year or till Longhorn is released maybe, (not sure). thats time ill upgrade to XP and oh...they say Longhorn is really good..(i know someone who has a beta version of it)...it requires a large amount of memory though..I cant wait till it is released!
  24. Most of P2P progs from https://sourceforge.net/ are good and spyware/adware free. Emule is good. The biggest spyware in a p2p program I know is in Kazaa.
  25. interesting topics for me are... 1. Freeware, Open source softwares vs. propriety, commercial softwares. or Free open source operating systems vs. propriety, commercial operating systems 2. JPEG Virus ------> http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&qtnG=Search+News&cf=all&q&js=0 3. The best freewares in the world. 4. Websites worth visiting (if your bored surfing the net)...
