  1. Totally agree with you Thorned Rose! You have to work on the relationship to keep it alive, if you just let it drag, it might survive, but what is the point. look for things you like doing together and continue doing them together. Maybe you each develop separate interests, that does not mean you cannot also be interested in them. Of course it cannot be the same level. But if you partner is a Golf maniac. Knowing what a 7 Iron is and who Tiger Woods is, can help or if she is into reading a certain kind of novels, know what the current author is and forwarding a link you saw about his latest book, might be all that is necessary. So, in the infallible words of the greatest of all wordsmiths George -The DubyaH- Bush. "It is hard work".But I can say it is worth it.Of course there can be the time when you realise it is more a tour de force than a tour de plaisir. And it might be necessary to part ways. That can happen, what ever you have put in. Afterall you are two human beings. And they tend to be unpredictable...
  2. Well, while this might be a theoretical possibility. for the freestate of bavaria to develop nuclear weapons, I still think the probability that Germany is going to be building nuclear weapons in my generation (the next 50 years) extremely implausible.I like my conspiracy theories like no-one, but this is a non-brainer.Politically it would be suicide. As it is political suicide in Germany to ask for the reintroduction of nuclear power stations. You might be surprised about that, but I honestly believe, that Germany is not going to re-connet reactors to the net. This obviously is partly due to the fact, that it only has a very small part of its power from nuclear power and most is still coal and gas station, which makes the part of renewable almost as big as the one that is being produced by nuclear.Germany is next to a couple of other country leading in renewable technologies. Why would they want to go back? The other thing is of course, why would Germany want a nuclear bomb?As long as you cannot give me a satisfactory answer to that I don;t think it will happen.Even with Stoiber as Chancellor it simply does not make sense in the current political situation. What would have to happen. There would have to be a great fall (hehe) out between all NATO members, and a split between France and Germany at the same time. For Germany to think, it might need nuclear weapons for self defence. For all the other reasons, that the US or France or GB have the BOMB, as a a means of defence....So even if Germany is involved in more and more conflicts, that does not mean they necessarily have to go down the route of having a bomb. Germany unlike France, Britain or the US has no boarder to a state that it considers hostile (or former colonial territories that it would like to still have), nor does it have any that I can see would be hostile in the future, to the extend, that Germany would be singled out as the only target for aggression. (unlike the States)So the scenario. Country X is mad at Germany and shoots an A-Bomb at Munich (since they deserve it) and Niederwittelsbach, because the church there has a minister that is the last remaining pacifist in Germany. How likely is that?I thought so.Xisto?icon1.gif
  3. For me the whole debate about Intelligent design is rather confused. First of all Intelligent Design is not a Science. However hard it tries to be. So, if it is to be taught in school it should NOT be taught in Science class. You might ask why. Very simple. Every science is based around a number of methods. One is the independent valuation of a third party. If you do an experiment. Anybody in the whole world should be able to replicate this experiment, if they follow step by step what you have done. If they cannot do it, then it is not proven in a scientific sense. Now with Intelligen Design, they have lots of assumptions, but a third party cannot reconstruct their tests. Because there are no tests. Therefore it is not a science subject. However, I do think it should be taught in school. Together with native american creation myths and indonesian and latin american, just all creation myths that are out there, and there are plenty. And then the difference would also become more obvious. Afterall: Science does not want to answer the question "Why?" and Religion(s) cannot answer the question "How?"
  4. I read this report somewhere today that said, people judge a websites in a fraction of a second (to be precise .2 seconds) So if they don;t like the way the page loads or what they see at first, the go away straight - without actually looking.Good luck
  5. Not that I can offer you any real advice, but people don't like to change under pressure, especially, if there is an age gap against you - and if they have it on good authority..Simply don;t pressurise her into it. She is probably unhappy and insecure enough about it herself and you constantly barging at her, will not help. Of course your intentions are well meaning, but she might simply be shutting everything out, because she cannot accept the state she is in. My Grandmother had a similar tendency. We never spoke about illness. In the end she had a form of inoperable cancer that was "shown" visiting medical students, because it is normally operated on, but she refused - so she became a real life showcase...What can you do?Reduce the suffering, feel and work with them - and good luck!
  6. We could have guessed that with that humour.... what do they know - eh Welcome at Trap!
  7. Thanks St_Michael I hadn't heard the story. That is such a seriously weird story.
  8. I love Trillian, simply because it is the only PC application where I can see my wife on her Apple...No, that is not rude, while she was home in the States for a couple of months recently, video chatting was the only option. So Trillian gets a big thumb up. The professional one!
  9. My Mac came with 80gig's and my external firewire is at 80% capacity. What do I have that is worth 210Gigs? To many images I guess....
  10. Thanks to explaining this to me as well. I probably belong to the group to which all the IT helper shout: RTFM. Sigh. Thanks again for putting the manual up again. (-:
  11. QUOTE(Cerebral Stasis @ Jan 12 2006, 03:22 PM) It's not so much that we don't like Islam - it's more that Islam hates us. See 9/11 for more information. Thank you Dr. Sultan for already replying to this. I agree, I have heard many a outrageous statements, but this blanket statement is just frighteningly scary.
  12. I agree with you that the name MacBook Pro is rather silly, but from a marketing point of view, it makes perfect sense - they probably want to move away from the "i" and have the Mac was part of the name again. Maybe the next generation of ipod will be called "macpods"? I have to say, that, even though I am a Mac person through and through, I don;t mind using the same chip set. As long as the Operating system is what it is: better. I will stick with Mac's. However, I do understand that people are taking this serious. It is quite a change. If you read some of the comments, on the other hand, you get the impression as if the world is going to end...
  13. I am in the paper and pen group as well.also, important, plan your content before you start programming - and I would not worry about the creative site, a simple and clearly structured website can be fun as well.As long as it is not cluttered!!!But as always it is content that draws people to the site. And content has to be aided by the layout and determine the way the site is organised. So, what goes on the page, determines how you structure the page.I am sure you know all this. (-:But it is good to hear this again and again. Content counts. and then presenting. So don;t wory if you are not creative. When you know what you want to present, you will know what the best and easiest way to present it is as well. and hey presto....
  14. Yeah, I hope it is for your kids, and not for the driver, what would you want to use it for? Finding a street? PDA's are the answer. and you get good once second hand on ebay. since they don;t have a harddrive, they are also vibration save. Watching DVD's in car DVD players are already available and not that expensive. observing you coffee machine via a webcam in your office? I am sure you can wait till you are in the office...
  15. I agree, if you want to work with Dreamweaver, you could also try Go Alive from Adobe. which is equally exensive. This website has free html editors, HTML Builder XP Lite sounds like a good one. When I had some look around, some time back, I also liked: 1st Page 2000 give it a go. EDIT: Fixed your BBcode
  16. I am not Indian, but I work with some, and some Pakistani and Bangladeshi men and woman as well for that matter. I have also been to the first Indian Restaurant in GlasgowIndian restaurants in Britain is a very interesting site bringing quite the variety of Indian food in Britain in just one website - apparently - You could get your Curry in Britain 400 years ago. I wonder if they had Tandoori Chicken then as well... actually the oldest recording of a chicken tandoori is from 1978. But who knows?
  17. How fast can I say (without gleaming to much)Am I glad I have a Mac or what? The number of viruses, sober or drunk, trojan horses and what-nots on a Mac are countable on one hand.Sorry, for all you guys with you lowly PC's.../sarcasm
  18. It is clearly the Simpsons for me, partly probably because I have never really gotten into Futurama - just not my cup of tea, some of the Simpsons can be a touch tedious, but overall, I think it very funny and a very good take on every-mans live. Hope they will last for a long time to come.
  19. Who was it who said: go here so we have to do everything in our power to protect this way off life. But what is this way of life? Pursuit of happiness? Living to you capabilities, living out the american dream of the world being your oyster. Istn;t it? And all that, of course, with the least possible interference from the state, and also, all within the law. or at least most of it. But then we read this: from here. Strange how the things can change? One can almost say that under the Bush Administration, the US is going a long way toward saving the terrorists time, money, and effort. Almost doing to the US what they have planned for us. While other people's children are "making sacrifices", "showing their resolve", and "staying the course" to "bring democracy to Iraq", the ... in the White House is chipping away at democracy at home. Where is the "balance of power" if the President is empowered by Executive Order to adopt extra-Constitutional practices? America is a different place maybe in a reaction to 9/11, but certainly not due to the events themselves. Afterall, if people spied upon were valid suspects, the Bush administration could easily have gotten wiretap warrants for them. This was not necessary to prevent suspects from finding out. There are special national security courts that handle these things. And they almost always grant warrant requests. There was no reason to have this program, except that the Bush administration didn't think they had enough evidence to legally wiretap people. So they send people to Guantanamo, and forget the key, and they decided to break the law, but make up a cover story. It's Bush trying to act like the laws don't apply to him. This is a bad thing to let any president do, whoever he is.
  20. Well, Froehliche Weihnachten to every body in Germany Sretan Bozic to all of you from Croatia Kung His Hsin Nien bing Chu Shen Tan if I remember correctly is what you say in China Gl?delig Jul to my girlfriends in Denmark, and to the finnish once: Hyvaa joulua. To everybody in Iraq I say: Idah Saidan Wa Sanah Jadidah and if you met me in Greek all those many years ago, You will have gotten a Kala Christouyenna. Those were the times, eh? My friends in Indonesia to you a Merry: Selamat Hari Natal and to those in Hungary: Kellemes Karacsonyi unnepeket, When I celebrated Christmas in Israel we said: Mo'adim Lesimkha. Chena tova and I'd miilad said oua sana saida. The friends that went home to India for the fesive season got a Shub Naya Baras, on their way. This year I will not be saying: Merry Christmas , as I will not be in Britain over the festive season, nor will it be: Nollaig chridheil huibh, since I moved from Schotland some time ago. I wish I would celebrate in Mexico and say: Feliz Navidad or have a wodka with Father Christmas, Na zdorovje and Chtob vse byli zdorovy and Pozdrevlyayu s prazdnikom Rozhdestva is Novim Godom. But that is either to hot or to cold, so it will remain a dream. So, it is home to the parents. But it will be nice, either way. So, where ever you are, I thank you for the fantastic times I had with you, my friends, and wish: you will celebrate a peacful Christmas with those that love you. I am not sure, that this counts as the fullfilling the demands of our demanding host, but there you go. Hope to meet all my friends next year. (have never been to Madagascar, so that will be a first) oh, before I forget, You all, reading this, are of course included. I hope I included your language as well, and did not make to many spelling mistakes... Notice from BuffaloHELP: Credits to transfer : 7
  21. Well, they can shoot of rockets from Submarines, which works like this, with an ejector button. Once ejected from a nuclear submarine?s torpedo tube, the weapon clears the ship. While underwater, the rocket can ignite since it carries its own oxygen. So could it be a jet?Well, a rocket engine differs from a jet engine primarily in one key way. Whereas a jet engine pulls in oxygen from the atmosphere, a rocket carries its own supply of oxygen. (That's how they get thrust in space and under water). A liquid rocket engine carries a liquid fuel and a liquid oxidizer in two separate tanks. The two liquids are pumped into a combustion chamber where they are mixed and burned. Just as in an jet engine this combustion process generates a high-pressure gas that is exhausted through a nozzle to generate thrust. In a jet, air enters the engine through an inlet and is then slowed down and compressed by a series of compressor blades. The compressed air is then mixed with fuel, typically a petroleum-based liquid similar to kerosene, and burned. The high-pressure gas is exhausted through a nozzle to generate thrustThe purpose of the jet engine as well as the rocket engine is to combust a mixture of fuel and oxygen. During this combustion process generates a high-pressure exhaust creates thrust to push a vehicle forward. The fundamental difference between the two types of engines, however, is where the oxidizer comes from. A rocket carries its own supply of oxygen internally while a jet must obtain oxygen from the external atmosphere. Another more technical way to explain this difference is that the fluid a jet engine accelerates to produce thrust is air from the atmosphere whereas the fluid a rocket accelerates to produce thrust is the exhaust from its own combustion process. It is for this reason that a rocket works in the vacuum of space and under water, where there is no atmosphere or oxygen, while a jet engine will not. So this clip might show a rocket propelled air plane.Possible...
  22. I am also one who says, you have to want it, self determination. But I think there can be other motivating factors as well.My wife used to smoke when we first started dating. a box a day. uff. I never said she should stop, but she wanted to stop, because I did not like the smoke. So her motivation was to spend more time with me and make it more pleasant for me to be with her. Now she has not touched a cigarette in two years. Funnily enough, after she stopped she would still occasionally give in to a craving only happened once or twice, but that always infuriated me more then when she was still smoking regularly. However, I am talking about motivation. Her motivation was obviously not primarily health related, but relationship related. But she also discovered there were other upside, like waking up and not being in a stinking room, or having a car that does not smell like pest - which increases the retail value immensely. So health reasons are good reasons to stop, very good reasons, but there are other seemingly secondary reasons, that might make it easier for you as well, to stop it. Think about it, you might find something
  23. Just to be a contrarian - well, not just. Terrorists want you do think and say exactly this, that you hate them and you want to eliminate all off them. If you say and think that, they have already won, because you are using their language and method. fighting terrorists with terrorism will not solve the underlying problem for their aggression and all their disgusting and inhumane actions. humans have always killed other humans, as despicable as it is. but saying they are doing this, because they are not human.. how would you react if someone would take your humanity from you? you would want to kill that person? how are you any different from the terrorists? As a reasonably wise man once said: "Haben diejenigen, die die Terroristen unterstützen, überhaupt noch nicht begriffen, was eine demokratische Lebensordnung ist, so haben diejenigen, die auf der menschlichen Würde auch des Terroristen bestehen, die Demokratie zu Ende gedacht." or in other word "When those that support Terrorists, have not understand what democracy means, those that insist on the human dignity even of Terrorists understand democracy in all its consequences. by the way this reasonably wise man, the head of state at the time. said this at the funeral of a terrorist victim, one of their high profile kills, at his state funeral. Taking away the humanity of your enemy makes it easy to kill them. Why do you want to make it easy for yourself, if the consequence is a totalitarian state and you give up, what you pretend to be fighting for?

Who makes that judgement? Who makes that judgement? can you not see, how you interpret the bible in YOUR interest? "We can make the assumption" Who is we. The male population of the world? Why not the child bearer? Who makes that judgement? You mean lynch mobs? Justice and anger are two very opposing things. You are saying God does not kill innocent people. but if he is responsible for earthquakes, and some such, he might kill one or two in the process. Babies, in their sleep... The reason why I asked this question is, if Jesus was a human, he had all the faults of a human, because, otherwise, what is the point of coming to earth, being born to a human mother, into a human family? If Jesus were just a God, than there is no sacrifice, than he cannot be an example for us, because then he would be special in a way that is not achievable for "normal" sinner - the rest of humanity. But because Jesus was a human and because all human are fallen, he was fallen as well. He struggled with God in the Garden, asking for the cup to pass him by, not wanting to accept the direction his path would take. If Jesus was only divine, there was no point in him coming to earth. who judges that? and don;t tell me it is Exodus.... No, someone has to make the judgement, that Exodus applies to that situation and I am asking who that someone is.

Thank you for your honesty and the revealing of your double standards. Where does it say in Exodus, that you shall not kill the innocent? It only says you shall not kill. Nothing about the innocent. That is your interpretation. My interpretation is. Killing is never right and always causes harm, regardless of who kills who, when and where. I have not said, abortion is good and should be done, I have said, abortion is sometimes the only solution to save a life and I AM NOT THE ONE to JUDGE, nor is anybody else that is not involved. Some men in the resistance against Adolf Hitler (the ones that did the attempt on 20 of July 44)where very pious folks, who had long, long, long discussions about exactly this problem. Is it right to remove a government, put in place as they believed by God, because it does evil? They answered with, yes after long years of deliberation, because ultimately it is bad governance. It is governance against God. I am also sure that you sometimes criticise those that are in power, for their un-christian ways. Even though they were put there by God (and not the electorate...). Does that verse removes all responsibility from Governance? No. Look at the Old Testament prophets for how to deal with governance. Look at Jesus for how to deal with governance and the law. (The story in Mark I quoted earlier) but how can we attribute a negative to God, if he is all white? If God never kills the innocent, what about earthquakes and storms and the tsunami. I am sure, one or two of the millions, that are killed in those incidents are innocent and holy. Would you not say? Thanks for correction me here, I meant to have said that you have heretical views, not that you are a heretic. But I stand by what I have said. One question. The man, we call Jesus, was he human? I don;t like abortion either, but in a way you say the death penalty is o.k in certain circumstances because it only ever wants to kill the guilty ups, and leading war is o.k in certain circumstance, I say abortion is o.k in certain circumstances, because there are always reasons and the choice should be with the person most affected and the law should protect this choice against people that want to harm the person making this choice. That is good governance.
