One Way To Earn Money Online (not Some Silly Scam).

Recommended Posts

Yep don't worry it's not a scam :), but it isn't necessarily easy money either.

I found a site a couple of weeks ago and well many of you may already know about sites like this but surprisingly I did not. It's just a freelance website where people can request jobs to be done and providers can bid on a buyer project and if they win they do the work and get paid, which is a simplified explanation of how it works.

If anyone is interested in it the site is: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

And yes I do have an affiliates url lol (means I get a cut out of the sites cut from earnings) which you just add affiliates/Chesso to the link but that's entirely up to you.

P.S. There are quite a few other sites that are basically the same but I haven't found any as active on this and I have done two jobs on this one already and got paid.

If anyone knows of any other freelance sites like this that are anywhere near as active i'd appreciate a link :).

For anyone that wants to know what the site gets out of it, my understand is that they get $5 or 5% (which ever is greater) and you get a cut out of that $5 or 5% from your affiliates. I'm not 100% on that but that's how I understand how it works.

Oh and if anyone is interested in what I bought with some of my earnings, I bought my brother DrgaonBall Z Budokai 3 for PS2 (well ok I play it too, going to play it in a minute actually, my sister re-started the game by accident and we lost all the levels and items :D).

Yes I have seen this site before but visited it via your ref link :)

I have a friend who is a graphic designer/illustrator and he uses this site a alot also

Elance

Its very much the same as the other site but with more options for types of jobs that you can bid on....

Im thinking of going into partnership with my freind to make lots of dummy nice designed sites and setup up a portfolio for these sites and see what work we can bid on and hopefully secure :))

Ive seen some mad things he has done like make 5 characters for an online childrens book and he got $250 for 2 hours work...he also made a pdf file for a company with really nice fonts..style and layout...got him $450 for 3 hours work....but then hes had some jobs that never seemed to end!! customer constantly changing the spec and refusing to pay more ;( but the rep of the bidders and the seekers can be commented on...so he gave this guy maximum bad rating for this cos he never got paid for the hours he put it..customer probably took the samples he got sent then modified them himself for nothing ;(

I really like the idea of these bidding sites...its really usefull for ppl with the right skills and also for customers with little jobs..

Yeah, if you have the aptitude for web design and graphics you can really get some decent money from here. I mostly try and do small jobs that I am sure I can do.I'm not that great with graphics and not the best with actualy web *design* so I don't usually go for those but hope to get myself to a confident level one day and try and win a bigger project even if only just for the satisfaction :).Thanks for the link btw!

hey ive had a good idea...we should start a group on Xisto ...we are all pretty technically minded...between us we could bid on projects and share the time between people with different skills...Payment to each other could be done by paypal or something similar...What do you think? We ofc would have to work together on some dummy sites to display for potential clients..but I think it could work...what do you think>?

There infact often teams from what I have seen (or claim to be teams or companys) bidding on projects over there. To be honest I'm not comfortable in a team environment, I seem to get aloe more done on my own (but of course less complex projects). But who knows, there may be more users here interested in this. I have seen quite a few people around here that sounds like there pretty good with alot of web design stuff and such, but they might already have enough on there plate lol.

I know what you mean about working in teams..this is me and my freind..he knows vitually nothing about computers..internet...web design...but hes worked for some of the biggest companies on earth making adverts for the street or for papers and magazines...hes layed out hundreds of technical documents into pdf...But I give him the specs...i.e. a banner 700X125 web colours only...must be in gif format....you have a couple of days to get it to me.....If we worked as a loose team we could break up design jobs like that...we have a couple of ppl making the site...setting the dimensions of the graphics...then hand it over to the graphics guys to make it look good...then we have a scripting team working on the fancy php stuff...the site needs a database...we hand that job to the database team...another team could handle SEO and promotions...We could bill for the time we spend then share it all out afterwards...then also we could use the thing we are building as a way of getting more work individually by having on each members of the teams profile...

Those are pretty good sites to go freelancing. One more thing I realized is that you can actually earn freelancing on the net if you know what the demands are for and see if you have the skill set to fulfill those demands.Like a few days back, I was going through few forums where administrators or forum owners got together and discussed of forum management issues. I noticed that there was a requirement for forum assistants who could provide service in making the forum livlier and give it some content.I just wanted to check it out, and put out an Ad in their appropriate service section, and off I was doing a small job for 1$. (1$ is a very low amount, but I just wanted to do a litmus test and moreover I did not have much time at hand due to the personal projects I have involved myself in). I got another one for exchange of some other service and then another, that put a total of 6$ into my PayPal account. I had to put notice at the Ad that I was not taking any more jobs, because I did not have time. I was getting overwhelmed by demands.Ok, may be I pitched in a lower amount, or may be I had few competencies in forum management - but that is not the point. The point I am trying to make is that, we just need to look out for demands, match it with our skill sets, pitch in a fee structure using a similar market as guide, and there you have a sellable service.Sorry to have gone a bit off the subject, but I just could not help not sharing my experience.

Ahhh I see, well it is a good point that it would be difficult if not impossible to moderate to an acceptable degree. The only thing you could really go on is trust I suppose. It's the same with GAF though, Iv'e been paid for 3 jobs so far, it's fun :P, very satisfied customers too and even one fromy Sydney like myself :P.

I've checked out the website and I found that most of the freelancers there work in groups or claim to be a group. I'm just really annoyed at those who claim to be a professional group when their portfolio seem to look like it's been done by just one person.

As for me, I tend to like to do things alone just because it's easier and of course, I like the jobs simple and not too complex. I'd like to make a portfolio after I finish this site I'm working on and start using that website to get me some money

Free lancing site are obviously good and useful to earn a few bucks but the big projects never come in your hjands even if you are the lowest bidder and thats where the problem starts, many times you start the project and then the other guy says he dont want it and rejects the entire idea or ask for big modification with no extra cost

I can see why it's more pleasant to 'work' while at your PC, but it is way more effective to get up and do a real job. Or be more creative and work as a writer on the web - not some silly affiliate clicker.
