Remove Your Name From Win Xp Pro

Recommended Posts

Windows XP places the name for the person currently logged on to the system at the top of the Start menu. The reason for this is to make it easier to tell which user is logged on to a Windows XP system set up with multiple users. However, if you're the only person using the computer, you don't really need to have your name at the top of the Start menu. You can remove it using the Group Policy console (the Microsoft Management Console snap-in used to edit Group Policy objects).1. Launch the Group Policy console (Gpedit.msc). 2. Go to User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Start Menu And Taskbar. 3. Locate and double-click the Remove User Name From Start Menu setting. 4. Select the Enabled option button and click OK. 5. Exit the Group Policy console. The change will take place immediately.Or you may switch to Classic menu from the start menu properties.Note: This tip applies only to Windows XP Professional.

lol :D . Why bother, it isn't doing anything wrong overthere? M$ should rather spend it's time preventing bugs instead of adding such (imho useless) settings ...Anyway, it's a good way to help me remember my name, so it's stays in place ;)(ps. that was a joke, 'right :o )

The name doesn't really bother me, but maybe for people with small resolution it can take some space from the desktop, but I won't really bother to remove it ;) For me, it even looks better, I see my Username :D

I like its presence. Anytime, i need to see who's logged in @ a particular workstation (with the profile name, of course.), I just need to activate the START menu. A handy little UI plus.

well.. i do need that name.. makes me remember who i am..i was annoyed a few years ago with that name appearing in my start menu..---okie okie.. snap back to reality.. i dont use start menu.. i am using pop menus.. from souceforge.. something like the themeXP can do but everything is in pods.. in there own containers floating around.. it also have its own taskbar which looks like a KDE Linux/MAC console screenshoot.. i gives me less time figuring out what that minimized pod window have because it have a thumbnail..---i hate windows bugs.. so everytime i have a chance..i shutdown windows desktop and load something over.. i even prevented IEXPLORE or lets say IEXPLODE.. bugs bugs bugs..
