Windows Vista Question

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know out there when Vista will be available to buy and how much it will cost?? Does anyone have any Beta version they are testing? I would like to know what you think about it. Is it true that your pc starts up and shutsdown within 3 seconds. I cant wait to check it out for myself.

I'm testing it now, it does shut dopwn/start up quicky, but how long it takes will depend more on what you have installed with it, not so much the o/s itself.

Judging by what I have here, it won't be available for at least a couple of months I would think.

Microsoft Vista still needs to be fixed up. I still think there are tons of bugs with it. They never fully test it before they release it. Guranteed 1 week published you will see them working on a SP1 cause so many things would be broken. People will lose their data cause it crashes when they were upgrading. Its always such a big headache. I know that happened to me when i upgraded to XP. my system froze and I lost all my installed programs and and to do an install from scratch. I do recommend always do a fresh install or else everything never works right. I stil lhave systems at my job that were upgraded from NT to 2000 and everything is all screwed up.. documents and setting aren't even in c:\ its in windows\profiles. Oh well, one day I will reformat them.

Microsoft had a press release a few months back, and due to a coding error in the shell or one of the major components they had to scrap the entire line of coding because of "coding themselves into a corner". So there release date was taken down and the best thing to do would be to follow the microsoft vista site or a software and hardware news site such as slashdot.

It will be availible to buy in the end of 2006 year. Now you can download DVD iso from Bittorrent or eDonkey. Latest is Beta 2. I have tested it and i can say: It's very buggy. But looks very very good.

I can imagine it'll get pushed back into 2007... but thats just a feeling I have because its Microsoft ;) But yea, I've heard nothing but people saying its still pretty buggy. I agree with the sentiment that I won't be installing it until I need to... making windows look prettier isn't a high priority for me. I'd rather keep a stable OS running then what is sure to be the buggy initial life of Vista. Then again right now I have two installs of xp still on my comp... sooo if I dont ever get around to clearing one of those off I guess I might always just throw one onto the other drive to test it. But I can't see me switching my primary windows to Vista until a good way into it's life so that other people can be kind and find all the bugs for me B)

Personally, I won't buy Vista until at least a year after it has been released, that way most of the kinks of the O/S have been sorted and some decent programs (as well as games) are released for it.

It will be interesting to see what they'll have install for Vista...once they get all those bugs out of the way. I may wait till a year or so later untill I'll bug my mum to buy a new, faster computer... that way perhaps I can see if it's really worth to fork out the money. There better be some good improvments on things other than a glossier GUI.
