Wow.

Where did you find the time to come up with these facts?

Hehe, that's some pretty major thread necromancy. The last posts were over two years ago. ;)

Anyway, regardless of that, there's some pretty nice little factoids (I love the word) in there.

* Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour

I can see the hospitals filling with people trying to lose weight, as well as a few brain cells, now. The next thing I want to know is who worked out how many calories it takes? ;)

Interesting facts, but this one is quite funny, even though not to much, but I still don't really believe it.."More people are killed annually by donkeys than die in air crashes."Well, so how many people die by donkeys in a year period?

Resurrecting old topics I see...I wonder how one could copyright facts or be the 'rightsholder' to facts. I thought that you're only supposed to be responsible for your own opinion or have the exclusive rights to them... else you would be giving credit to wherever you get the information from... Good facts list though. Pretty lengthy

lol but you would be surprised how many people would find that amusing..... to watch cows poop.I never expected a thread like this to pop up (and it's age shows why), but here it is, some of the facts are pretty cool and interesting, but there are some considerably boring or difficult to understand ones, someone should do a new thread like this with facts that have extra information that explain it (so we can all catch on to them).

Although quite a pretty old topic, I will still comment a bit on it.

Flamingos can only eat with their heads upside down. The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from and old English law which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.
Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.
Over 98 percent of Japanese are cremated after they die
Every time you lick a stamp, you're consuming 1/10 of a calorie.

These are a few that are pretty interesting. But as what Chesso said, some are pretty hard to understand. If I could remember correctly, there are actually a particular website that I've came across and that contain the full list. Just can't remember the name of that site. Maybe someone might be able to help Chesso out. ;)

Well, wouldn't it depend on how hard you ban your head against the wall? So it'd almost be like the force your head gives to the wall is directly proportional to the amount of calories lost.

*On average U.S. states with average I.Q.s less than 100(below average) voted for Bush in 2004.

That, sadly, is what, the majority? I seriously wonder what led people to vote him for second term...but then again, the other countries who followed Bush into Iraq were definitely not any better. They made him look as if he actually had international support when the majority of countries hate him. No wonder he's trying to figure out the mystery of why so many people dislike him...

This leads me to thinking about something else--the electoral college seriously sucks. It really would be better if our democracy were a true democracy and actually depended on what the majority of our people vote for. Unfortunately, we instead choose to pick representatives to vote for us, which is basically just putting up a barrier between the government and the people. Sad.

* If the population of China walked past you in single file, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction.

Not quite true. The population is actually rather stable, now, isn't it? I'd like some more context on this one, but seeing how old the thread is, I guess that's not possible. Sure, in the rural areas there are more births, but there are also more babies getting abandoned and dying. The cities just stick to the one-child policy.

The population of China is 1,306,313,812 and it makes China the nation with the largest population on earth.

That was dated somewhere around 2006, and from what I can find, Australia (where I live) is more or less around the same size as China, and we only have a 20mil population....... and I thought we were crowded here LOL.

The one that surprised me is when you lick a stamp and gain 1/10 of a calorie. Interesting. I also think its interesting that our teeth is hard as rocks. I knew they were hard, but jeesh. I never though Flamingos could only eat with their heads upside down, it must be a digestive problem. But then again, we have google. And banging your head on a wall uses 150 calories an hour...I'd pass out before the first 5 minutes.

Heh, interesting. The list is a bit long though. xD

Mozart wrote the nursery rhyme 'twinkle, twinkle, little star' at the age of five.

Whoa. Never knew that. It's shocking to think that a five year old wrote something that we'd be singing to kids everyday in the whole world for the next few hundred years. You don't see such smart five year olds anymore, do you?

Rubber bands last longer when refrigerated.

I wonder how that works; I know that batteries last longer in the fridge, and you can microwave masking tape to make it sticky again, but rubber bands in fridges? I suppose as long as you let them warm up before you use them, maybe they will last longer (or else they'll just snap - that much I know).

A crocodile always grows new teeth to replace the old teeth.

Same thing for sharks.

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.

Who discovered this? A better question might be, why bother to calculate this? o.O I don't think it's safe to post anywhere, in case people might use this in desperation to lose weight.

The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska was $80,000. At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minute later they were both eaten by a killer whale.

D= Such...irony. But that is how the world works; to look on the bright side, that $160,000 or so helped feed a killer whale.
