Visual Basic 6 + Crystal Reports 9 how to distribute

Recommended Posts

I have made a software with Visual Basic 6 and Crystal Reprots 9. Now I have to distribute it on the client side but the problem is coming in distributing the Crystal Reports. I have tried Setup Factory but it is not working. Then I have used Visual Studio Installer from Microsoft and downloaded Crystal Report Merge Modules from Business Objects website. It is working properly but now the setup file size is very big because it carries a lot of files with it.Is there any other installer software which can automatically select the required files to be distribute with the project so that it takes minimal resources.I don't want to use Visual Basic Deployment Wizard. Thanks in advance.

have you tried using the deployment wizard to find which files need to be deployed with it, extracting them then adding them to your install package? if you are making your own installer you could then install those files when you install your program!

The Visual Studio package is the best that you can find out there. As far as I know, there isn't any way to compress the file any more. On top of that, its ease of use is pretty hard to beat. How large is the installer and what medium were you planning to use?

probelem in making VIEW and its linking with Crystal Report

Visual Basic 6 + Crystal Reports 9

Sir,

I have developed a software in VB. I m facing probelem in making VIEW and its linkage with Crystal report.

I had linked table of access directly with crystal report. But it had a big probelem when I wanted to take printouts of those reports because multiple pages came to be printed on report instead of one which I desired to print.

I will be awated for your positive response.

I have developped an application in VB5 with Crystal Report4 now I am migrating my application to VB6 with Crystal Report9. Using CRVIEWER object but it failed to open the report because of lack of database opening parameters.

Running of VB Application which uses Crystal Report in non Developer PC!!Visual Basic 6 + Crystal Reports 9

Hi,I have a question I think it is related to what you are discussing here guys. I have no idea about programming and I am not familiar with Visual Basic. My question is, I have an application which is based on ACCESS- database and The actual interface is programmed using Visual Basic. The application has an option of printing out reports using Crystal Reports. Now, When I get to install the application, Visual Studio 2005 and Crystal Report 9 & 10 on a non developer PC, the application works fine except it can't show up the report and there is an error message pop out saying "Run Time Error 91: Object vriable or with block varaible are not set"Am I missing any programs that needs to be installed with the above mentioned package?Or do I need to connect the database of the application and the installed crystal report? HOW?Thanks in advance!
