I use

Mozilla Browser for testing site design, if I'm being generous I may even fix it up for IE (and others if needs be) , If iI'm writing it in PHP, I may have that installed on my system too so I can test locally as well.

UltraEdit-32 a plain text/hex editor with lots of useful functions and colour coding. Highly recommended. I use this for all types of programming, and it's good for web desiging (I'm not a WYSIWYG type person, I write everything from scratch).

As well as Photoshop 7 and ImageReady,

FTP uploading/downloading I use FileZilla or I just use the inbuilt FTP in UltraEdit.

I have Dreamweaver MX, but I mainly use it for O'Rielly's References.

* FrontPage 2000 (for prototyping website only)
* FileZilla (ftp)
* Opera 7.51 (web browser)

For all coding I use the best text editor around Edit Plus.

For graphics I usually go with Photo Shop, but I have also used PSP.

Depending on site, I upload my stuff either with a ftp-client with gui (like FileZilla) or with scp

I test my sites with all the major browsers.

I use editplus for html, css, javascript and php.and nothing else.

well i would rate dreamweaver the best and then flash which is kinda diffuclt to handle and then comes frontpage after that nothing i have used but some one here mention WS_FTP i never got the hold of it so gave it up.

In my opinion, all WYSIWYG(What You See Is What You Get) editors are bad...Their code is not optimized at all...Experienced programmers will call your code bloated and refer to it as 'garbage'...

I agree that WYSIWYG editors (at least the free ones) are not recommended for web page editing. You get much more flexibility and control by hand coding the HTML and other scripting. However, there are many programs out there that assist in some of the mundane aspects of hand coding pages, and my top choice is: ACE HTML 6 Pro (or any ACE HTML version, free or pro).As for uploading, ACE FTP is nice, but WSFTP works just fine. does anyone no if i can get a free or trial version of dreamweaver? Everyone says its the best but ive never tried it. I use notepad for html editing, paint shop pro for images and my browser is IE.

I make sure to test out my webpages in both Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer. I use Adobe Photoshpo and Adobe ImageReady to create graphics and animation, and I use Notepad+ to code my webpages.I would try out other web designing programs if I had the money to pay for them.

For the basic coding I always handcode and edit using Notepad.I test in FireFox and IE, and generally view pages in FireFox.To manipulate images, I use a combination of Pixia, IrfanView, Terragen, and MS Paint.I upload with WSFTP.
