Mysql Problem Not Letting Me Open Any Localwebserver? Questions both on for MAMP and Xampp

Hiya people... I seem to need help again. Recently, I tried to re download the MAMP local webserver for my computer, and due to different browser only allowing me to download different types of local webservers (MAMP can only be downloaded from Safari and Xampp can only be downloaded on Firefox), that I ended up with both local webservers...I am deciding to work on my site so that I can upload it to my proper site, but however, I cannot start any servers on MAMP at all, and I cannot start the mySQL server on Xampp. The problem was this: it seems like I already have another mySQL server running already, and I don't know how that happened. I don't open both localhosts webservers at the same time, and I even took the time to delete them and tried again. The problem persisted. And the problem is now though, that I cannot open my localhosts because apparently I don't have permission to access to it, but I don't know why.I hate this. After I take the time to learn how to use MAMP, the whole entire folder got wiped off the disk, and now after I solved the downloading problem where I couldn't download it before, now I can't even open it properly. What's wrong with me? I really need to get my site up and running in a few weeks time. Someone help!!!And I still can't get me email running right. And plus, the main domain in my hosting is still a very bad one and I can't seem to delete it.

I don't have mac right now. Otherwise i could have guided you with procedure. But isn't it possible for you to stop un-necessary processes in OSX ? I mean before using any other local webserver software you need to stop MAMP first. If it is stopped properly then you'll be able to run another web server. This is because two instances of mysql will not run so you've to remove first then you'll be able to run another.Losing data(folder) is strange and you should check with the official MAMP list or forums about this bug. They'll solve this issue. And about problem of losing data. You should copy the folder to some another place after completing your work with MAMP. You can do so to avoid backup and you'll have multiple versions of your themes if that's what is important to you in installation.

Do you mean open the folder where the files are stored, or access the web server using a web browser? If you can't get into the folder then you should just be able to change the folder permissions so you can get into that folder. If Apache is giving you a permissions error then there is likely a problem with your Apache configuration file that is preventing you from accessing the web server.

Always take a backup before performing any major task like upgrading the OS. As far as I know, Apple's upgrade process keeps your personal files (home directory) but not a lot else. Depending on where your files were stored, it probably wiped them during the upgrade.

I'll take another look at your email topic and discuss that over there. How is there a "bad" domain as your main domain? You can't delete your main domain because if you did then your hosting would have no domain associated with it, and therefore be inaccessible.

I found out what is wrong with it, I believe. While I delete all the local webserver files into my Recycle Bin, I couldn't empty my recycle bin because some files were still running (yes, while in the recycle bin). So then, I went to shut down my computer to stop all processes, and then my computer froze for some reason so I had to emergency shut down it, and then I deleted everything in the trash folder.

 

After that, I went to download MAMP again, and decided NOT to downland xampp, and then the servers worked, but I came up with this:

I don't think so... but anyway, the problems solved after I shut down... I shut down all the background processes in the way as well... Now I just need permission to access my own local webserver. How sad...

Just log in to your cPanel and go to the parked domains area. Add your top level domain as a parked domain, and you should be able to use it in your FTP address straight away.

I have done that, but I still want to delete the other domain straight away... I swear, why did I even think up so such a name? I must have been really really retarded at that moment... I might end up making a new hosting account anyway. I still have to make a psychic blogging forum type community, remember? I'm just doing this first because it is more important at the moment. So I might use the retarded domain name there and create a new hosting account anyway, just for the sake of having different cPanels. They allow you to host up to three sites in one account, though I don't know how to do that...

Though MAMP is removed i think services are registered and still not removed from the OS X. And as they're running you've to first stop them then you've to remove them from the services running list. This way you'll not get that message and you'll able to reinstall the MAMP again. Let's Hope this method works under OSX as it works with windows.

That way I always had a guaranteed domain for my hosting, so if I ever decided to stop paying for my top level domain then I could still use my hosting. Once I had the top level domain I used it in my email addresses, web addresses and FTP address instead of the subdomain. It seems like a lot of hassle to get rid of the subdomain for no benefit...

I don't know... I mean, I don't think I would mind if my domain was mydomain.co.cc, but to have a totally unrelated domain name, PLUS as well as having potential missing files problem... it just seem to be a better idea to get a totally new hosting account anyway. I mean... your main domain was rvalkass.trap17.com right? but you had probably parked a rvalkass.com on top of it. That, I understand... but to have something like THAT... I don't know...

 

I mean, maybe I may need another account anyway for my psychic niche blog, and that would suit it, so, why not? Also, I still can't find a way to make my ftp address my parked domain address... how do you do that? I went to FTP accounts in my cPanel and I have all my URLs in my bad domain name... How sad... I should have gotten a uni.cc or a co.cc main domain name in the first place instead of a freecp.net one. :(

As you can see... only the last one has my good domain name on it... and it still has a baddomain.freecp.net in it... I don't know how to change that. Plus, if I used that for my psychic blog niche then it would kinda fit, but not really... I don't see any alternative to solve all my needs and wants apart from getting a new hosting account there.

I did that, though I still have the permissions problem. I am thinking that this is maybe because of the fact that the name of this computer isn't the name of my account, and therefore only the administrator of the computer can do it. But there is only one user. SO therefore, that user has two different names. THis is because my father upgraded my OS X computer with my brother's already upgraded computer, so for some reason, the name of the computer is now that of my brother's, but somehow, my user account is still on it, so when I give permission and verification and all that, it is still under my name. I don't know how to solve this though. Do you have any ideas? I'm not even sure if this is the problem, though it seems to be... :-/
