How Do I Start Making My Website In Flash Cant find tutorials in google :(

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I began making my website with Firworks, and Dreamweaver. But I really want to know how to make a website with Flash.
I understand with this program you make 'movies'. I have done some tutorials too, and I get that. But what I want to know is, if the content in the different pages (like home, contact, links etc.) have to be one movie? Or do you use other programs.

Like this site below, it's a beautiful site of the Luny Tunes (reggeaton music artistgroup):
Luny Tunes

But is the whole site a 'Movie', or is there some HTML in it as well, like tables to putyou content in. I can't find any begin tutorials where to start if you want to make a site. Only tutorials for like, photogallery thumbnails, tweening etc. Can anyone Help Me?

In this case, there?s no html... is a movie (or more than one) as you said. Probably this site is combining flash with php or other dinamic languages to update with the news, etc, but no html, I think. Anyway it?s not the kind of site that you should try for the first time. You have to learn first the basics of flash, the frames, interpolations, scenes, clips, etc.You can do an entire flash site in one movie (swf), but you can also work with scenes or with the loadmovie command, putting a movie in the background, and others first, etc. It?s up to you.Flash sites are cool, but they take a lot of time and remember that some people might not see them if don?t have the plugin, etc. There must be a lot of tutorials, but I prefer not to give you any because I didn?t learn that way and don?t know if they really works. Maybe someone else would help. :D

@Sprnknwn thats mess reguardless if they work or note depends on the user.Well besides alot of programming experiance you need graphic experiance to to design flash sites as well, some people use basic stuff like rollovers and sound bytes. What I recommedn Nani is go to http://www.pixel2life.com/ they have an extensive list of tutorials on how to design in flash. even though its good experiance to have I choose not to do it myself.

I'd advise against making your whole site a movie because it'll make it very hard for search engine spiders to index it (ie no rankings).

Yes it could be very hard or imposibile for search engines to rank your site, but google can find text and other stuff in flash site... i dont know for the other search engines but i readed that google do.Its better to have html as the main site then add flash stuff that you like to your site... like logo, menu...If you didnt work with flash never before, then better use some existing flash template on the net for web page and then edit what you can. That way you will learn a little flash and get what you wont in easy way.

With flash you can have one movie load up other movies, or have one movie load up text or html files. But, the kind of HTML elements the flash player can translate are limited, mostly text formatting and links. Also, the newer versions of flash can now load certain image files the same way it loads movies. As for your site being indexed on search engines, I'd suggest making an HTML version and a flash version.

I understand you gotta gave some experience with Flash. And I know how Flash works. I have done basic tutorials etc. Pixel 2 life is a good site, I know... But anyways. If I want to make my website ...it should be one movie I understand, or it would be better if I did this in one movie (so maybe I can create a different scene for each individual page I want to create? and then link between scenes, (I have read an tutorial for this)... Well thanks for the help everybody!!!Truefusion, thanks for the tip. I understand not everyone can view Flash sites If they don't have the plugin.. and shockwave etc..Thanks again, and please, if anyone else has some tips for me as a Flash beginner please post! thanks!!!

Creating individual scenes for each "page" of your flash site, may be convenient to you, but may also increase filesize, which can be annoying for dial-up users. You may wanna try making a template flash movie, and have buttons load external files into empty movieclips in your flash movie, using actionscript.

Okay, that sounds better! After all, I actually made a template in one scene, made buttons, but wondered how to link to the content...is that what you meant?! Using action script to load external files (the content I want) into empty movieclips?

First, the best search engines (google, msn, ask jeeves and yahoo), specially google (that's what matters) indexed flash site and google can read very well flash sites, just to show you that i'm right, just insert this query in google: inurl:flash.swf and you will see that only shows up swf files, so imagine how many flash animations or flash aplications you can find, just enter the desired keywords. Also for you to know, macromedia has developed an aplication named "flash sdk", wich is a "swf to html" tool, specially for search engines, that when they install in their search engine servers, they will be able to convert flash aplications (*.swf) to html, so they will be able to index and read text from flash aplications.Of course, if you build an html website with no frames and with high keyword density and popularity, as well as with organized and related meta tags, you will most definetly have more chances to show up in the top google results for keywords related to your website theme, but, if you want visitors/clients, if you want more visitors/clientes, if you want them to keep comming to your website(s), you will need an inpressive, attractive, powerfull website, and flash tech (actionscript to be exact) can do the job, it's not easy at first months, but then you will be a master webdesigner, and certanly if you're a webdesigner like profession, clients will love your work because flash does the most cool flash on the "internet".Also one thing, if you find flash mx or flash 8 a litle bit difficult, there one program, wich by the way tons of people are using and tons more are starting to use at this moment, the name is: swishMAX , it's much more easy to build flash sites then flash 8, beleave me, i have a great ebook named "swishmax unleashed" wich helped me a lot. Now, if you want to learn flash, but really learn, you have to get a very good ebook, at least for your first ebook (you can learn or if you want i can send one good for you, just private email me).If you don't want to read a ebook or if you think that is not enough, just visit the following websites, they are the best in flash resources like: - Tutorials - News - Programs and Tools - Actionscript (The real flash Tech)The flash related websites: - flashkit.com (flash animations, tons of tutorials, the best forums, etc) - ultrashock.com (high quality tutorials, components, flash animations) - actionscript.org (excellent for learn the real flash, great forums) - actionscript.com (another one with great forums, great actionscript tutorials) - actionscript.co.uk (this one is also great, hot news,tutorials,etc...)There's much more to talk about flash in this topic, but my reply is big and helpfull enough (i think and hope).Main things you need to do: - Read, then read more, and finally read more and more flash ebooks, by one, or get one from someone that already byed, make copies of that ebook if you can. - Continue reading, but now read on sites, online, at the above websites, read flash news and articles here: - flashnews.com - Never stop reading (he he) - Search in the above sites for "step-by-step" flash tutorials and read and practice while you read each step, you'll learn more if you practice, but you must read a lot, a lot, a lot.Hope i've helped enough for start.PM me if you need more help or flash stuff, really.

That's very sweet of you. I started doing little flash tutorials.

I've done some in pixellife.com and guess what? THere was a very useful tutorial to make a flash site. Everything that I neede to know! Step by step, and very good explained!!!

This link <<< is sooo useful for those who want to know the basics for designing a simple Flash site. I guarantee to any Flash beginners like me, that this is very useful. well it has been to me!

There are 9 or 10 different tutorials, but you work on the same website... and the one who wrote this explains it all very well. gives good tips and effects 2!!!

the tutorials are not movieclips, but it's content as a image. that's not so good especially if you have to put some actionscript, you can't just copy past it, cause its an image...

but again, these are very good tutorials to begin with I think....
