.ade 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Talking Indie, I don't have any strict band to say that the band is the best.I'm checking everyday on indie news. There are always new sound and new style these days. Last time I check, Water Fai *a group of japanese girls* and Mooncake from Rusia are on my daily playlist. Don't forget to check on Sigur Ros new album.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted July 7, 2008 Most of your 'new british indie'bands are not indie mate... Most of them is some wierd kind of pop-mainstream-almost-rock ****s... These bands are making music just for money, to sell CDs to 15 years old 'cool' girls, and indie rock(independence rock) means exactly opposite thing... iGuest 3 Report post Posted July 31, 2008 inddieeee music Best Indie Band Ever I don't know, a lot of the bands previously listed have not been indie as such but slightly pot/alternative. Smashing Pumpkins is my favourite indie band of all time, And don't say it isnt because it was released as one and they even named their own music as 'very quite indie" : ) -reply by lemons

iGuest 3 Report post Posted January 20, 2009 If any of you are interested in enjoying some meaningful and refreshing indie music you may want to take a look at JAYLA. There myspace address is https://myspace.com/browser and you can also check them out at jaylamusic.Com.Here is a little info about JAYLA"JAYLA, who has made California their home, has performed at The Knitting Factory, The Joint, Room 5 Lounge, and The Mint, which is one of the most trendiest night clubs in Los Angeles. They have also performed in New York City, and they have many many more performances here in California and other states coming soon.""When you listen to JAYLA's music you get the sense that they're trying to relay something - something of value. Avalon Vision Entertainment describes JAYLA's music as "music that moves you", and it truly does. JAYLA's music grabs you at your core leaving you with a good and positive feeling."If you live here in Southern California please do not hesitate to see them perform. This is definitely a band you do not want to miss. -reply by Grayt22

iGuest 3 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Oh wellBest Indie Band EverI don't know, I've gotten seriously tired of indie thesedays. Everyone tries to sound original and yet not everyone catches up, so you hear a mode that will fade away in three years (when it comes to ONE BAND sound) and, well, there are just a few indie bands that make it through and actually make their sound stick. I don't know if that makes sense. Either way there are some indie bands I love, like Pretty Girls Make Graves (Elan Vital as their best record) and Sonic Youth. Cheers.-reply by Ines Achabal
iGuest 3 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Long List!Best Indie Band EverIndie is more than you guys think right now. I don't really care to label a band "indie" just because they are on an independent label. ****ty bands right up there with hinder and nickelback are on independent labels so just something to think about. You just gotta do some major sifting! I'm also naming bands that havent been aformentioned. Of I just looked over My List as of today: -Silversun Pickups - I had to put them as my favorite for the past few years now. Do yourself a favor and get Carnavas & Swoon . Don't worry to much about their first album. It was patchy and welll...Kinda uncomparable to their next two releases. "The royal we" & "It's nice to know you work alone" are sooo awesome off the new CD! -The Appleseed Cast (Two Conversations, Peregrine(Favorite), Sagarmatha) They have quite a few CD's but the more recent ones I found more structured and palatable. -Margot & the Nuclear So and So's - Everything from them has been very very good so far. They have an amazing EP of demos and unrealeased songs to support their newest releases Animal & Not Animal. If you can find it you are in for a real treat! -Minus the Bear - All of their CD's are noteworthy. Got a little edge on the game right now IMO! They just realeased an acoustic ep and a remastered version of their " They Make Beer Commercials like this" realease. Its a good deal either way man. -Mason Proper - There's a Moth in Your Chest & Olley Olley Oxen Free. Solid Efforts. -Brendan Benson - Lapalco & The Alternative to Love are chock full of indie rock inspired anthems. -Albert Hammond Jr. (Guitarist of the Strokes) - Como te' llama & Yours to Keep. AWESOME AWSOME AWESOME. I got to see him open for Incubus (weird pairing) the music is perfect indie-rock for all the senses. Well Alright, b-side on yours to keep is just greatness wrapped into a 4 minute wonderfest. - Annuals - Such Fun (Really Really damn catchy). Try to get their B-Side release "Eyes of Darkness". Best song they've ever made. Why it didnt make the cut. No idea. -MGMT - Oracular Spectacular. You can play the whole CD my freinds. - The Black Seeds - Raggae/Afro-Beat/Jazz/Experimental - These guys do it all. And they're from New Zealand for christ sake! jk On the Sun is the best CD to grow on, personally. Anthony Greene - Avalon - Singer of Circa Survive. Most unique voice out there. And he hits the high notes, like ultra sonic! He also has a remix CD of Avalon by Colin of Circa Survive(A little techno-ey but still great nonetheless. Its pretty hard to **** up anything by Anthony Sidenote: (MTB & Annuals will be touring together this summer!! Catch em both!) Sidenote 2: Make sure to acquire everything from the artist before makin assumptions. B-Sides are usually were you find the best stuff. E.I. The Killers, Circa Survive & Anthony Greene. ALWAYS GET THE B-SIDES!-reply by Scott
iGuest 3 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Best Indie Bands???Best Indie Band EverThese are my favs. By the way... Radiohead is in fact an indie band even though they are on a big label. They release all there music in an independent fashion. And they don't accept all the perks that big labled bands get, they do things a different way. So both Caveman and Sprnknwn were right. 1. Modest Mouse 2. Built To Spill 3. Radiohead 4. Minus The Bear 5. Nirvana 6. Silversun Pickups 7. Sonic Youth 8. Ugly Casanova 9. Ben Folds Five 10. Brand New -reply by ShawnKeywords: best indie bands
iGuest 3 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 We have come a long way from the pixies and sonic youthBest Indie Band Everthe pixies and sonic youth set the foreground for many bands, but I think it was around 2001 that indie music started to finally started to sound less like a conformity and the different branches of indie music(ie folk, pop, and experimental, etc.). People say that all indie bands sound the same lately, but I honestly can say the past two years I have heard some of the best music of my life and would proudly play the tracks I listen to today to my kids. Some of the artists I have been listening to lately: Lykke Li- Peter Yttling of PB&J produced her debut album youth novels and the quality in entirety is mind blowing for a first cd and she has one of the most amazing stage presences I have ever seen. Broken Social Scene- they have been at it for a while but only a couple weeks ago I started listening to their tracks and it's amazing stuff, most of their members have done side projects like Kevin drew and the band Metric was formed by I think two of its members which is also worth listening to. Regina Spektor- her talent seems endless, seriously, she has a great voice range and composes some beautiful music shout out louds- if you like the cure, pb&j, or you want a good song to be stuck in your head, theyre a band I never get tired of. Pretty much anything from Sweden is something to look into. Other bands that I don't really have to go into, but LOOK EM UP!, are the yeah yeah yeahs, iron and wine, tokyo police club, black lips, placebo, here we go magic, metronomy, gah I could really go on and on haha music is just too fun once you listen to one track you wanna listen to em all!-reply by jocelyn
iGuest 3 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Radiohead released In Rainbows by themselves. They're indie/alt. They're pretty close to the same thing, but beyond influencing more than half of the indie bands that came out after them, the indie release locks em in as indie, technically. They're pretty much insane, though, indie or not. Period.-reply by mramerecka

iGuest 3 Report post Posted September 2, 2009 Indie has changed...to a degreeBest Indie Band EverThere's a huge difference between the Pixies, Sonic Youth, Neutral Milk Hotel (NMH) and newer bands like Vampire Weekend or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Indie has gotten popular since bands like NMH because they changed their style. Vampire weekend has a much more pop-ish sound to it when compared to the pixies. For example the pixies song where is my mind was featured in fight club and vampire weekends music can be found in I love you, man. So as far as new (in sound, not age) indie goes: 1.) Flaming Lips (the first psychedelic experimental indie band, gotta hand it to 'em) 2.) Vampire Weekend 3.) Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! 4.) Belle & Sebastian 5.) Beck (I know they're officially considered alt. Rock but listen to a song like "everybody's gotta learn sometime" and your brain will say indie) 6.) Bloc Party 7.) The Strokes 8.) Islands 9.) Morningwood 10.) MGMT *btw person who said nirvana was indie...Dude c'mon now. You're obviously not very smart. -reply by verma
