You can try classics like The Fall, or Pere Ubu...Both extraordinary bands if you prefer rather artistic approach... Sebadoh anyone...Lou Barlows (Dinasour jr. Former base player) band...Great for me... Let's see...Flaming "genious" Lips, and the greatest Indie ever (don't listen to people who say it isn't) early Manic Street Preachers (The Holy Bible, in my top 10 best albums) after Richie James "left" nothing was ever same with MSP... iGuest 3 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 You know what is sad about this web page? The lists on it and peoples choices about who are the greatest indie bands of all time. The Smiths once held the three top positions of the indie singles chart at once and held the number one position for a total of 14 times. Over the space of less than 5 years they spent 53 weeks at no.1. They also had almost every single hit the UK top 40 let alone the indie chart. Apart from having a very key influence on Oasis, Radiohead, The Stone Roses and every band to come out of England during the nineties, they even influenced a member of Pantera (a famous American heavy metal band). They influenced The Killers, another American band even though the Smiths were tiny in the you.S.A. Morrissey is one of the greatest lyricists ever ( a fact not opinion) and Marr is simply amazing enough said.
