Ahsaniqbalkmc 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2010 Google buzz is a sort of a combination of RSS and Social networking withing the existing Gmail and Google infrastructure. The key features of the google buzz include;Friends listsThe friends lists are generated automatically depending upon the emailing of your gmail account that is all the people to whom you email will be added as your friends.SharingThe sharing on google buzz is very rich and fast with features like full sized photo browsing etc. It actually combines various sharing sources like picasa , twitter into a single platform. There is also another important feature through which you can select to share publicly of privately.
Quatrux 4 Report post Posted June 21, 2010 I saw google buzz in my gmail account and I just turned it off, but it took me a week or so to find a way to remove it from my gmail account I don't really like any of those social networks and stuff.
Бојан 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2010 I don't think so that Google will succeed with this Google Buzz social network, because Google is a newbie in the social networks like Facebook, MySpace and etc. It's correct that they are the most earning company in the IT, but it's not correct that they can succeed in every business they can imagine. I know that google buzz is not that good as many other social networks but one strong reason that I will go with google buzz is that I feel that on google buzz the anti-religious and anti-personality propagandas will be discouraged greatly. I do not know why I feel this but I think I have a sort of a believe on google. I used facebook for quite a long time but from the time they ceased discouraging anti religious and anti personality propagandas, I ceased using facebook. I do not like these things on social networks. As far as you are concerned I think you are a lucky man to keep out of this stuff because if you not use it to get traffic to your website or some other very good reason, then it is a complete waste of time

I agree with you that google buzz is not as good as some other social sites but I do not agree with you saying that they cannot succeed in every business. Here I will make a point that I hope you will understand. In our money management system A rich man becomes more and more rich and a poor man becomes more and more poor. A rich man if starts anything can by use of his wealth convert that thing into gold dust. I hope you understand what I mean.In simple words I would say that Google has got all sorts of material available to make google buzz successful. They have the highest amount of quality traffic. They have money in their pockets. They generate the highest amount of user reviews about their products. So unless google themself don't want to make google buzz successful, there is no reason why google buzz is not going to beat all the others of similar category withing a few years of time. Quatrux 4 Report post Posted June 22, 2010 I guess Google Buzz can become popular in some countries, in other countries less, it all depends.. It the same as with Instant messaging, in some countries everyone has MSN, but for example in my country, almost nobody has it, but everyone has Skype. :)As I know orkut is popular in some countries, even more than facebook. I do not understand why things become popular in one region and not in other. Is there any difference in the way the products work in different regions or it is just a matter of peoples psychology about a certain product ?
Quatrux 4 Report post Posted June 22, 2010 Maybe it depends how it's promoted, the reason that no one is using MSN in my country is that they won't find any friends there, due to most of them use Skype, so more and more people continue to install Skype and use it. I guess in America it was something like that with MSN or Yahoo.I only use MSN to connect to my friends living in New Zealand or USA or Australia, due to I know they use it. But do you thin a transition can never be made? I have seen one transition in my country and i would like to share it with you. A few years back almost 99% of people I knew were using yahoo for whatever they did. They searched on yahoo, they used yahoo messenger, they used the same messenger for video chat, the same for voice chat etc but now I have seen a transition from yahoo to skype because most of my friends use skype now and when i ask them why have you left yahoo, they say that skype is of much better quality than yahoo. They say that the video is much faster on skype, the voice is much clearer and the interface is much simpler. So the point I wanted to make is that there can be a transition from one to other if the newcomer provides better quality than the old don. In some way it has more features, but I stil prefer IRC, even though I use Skype.
yordan 10 Report post Posted June 23, 2010 I use Pidgin because it has several protocols, so I can use a single interface for MSN, for googleTalk. It also works with ICQ, IRC and Yahoo.Unfortunately it does not work with FaceBook.---------EDIT.I just saw a link here : https://github.com/dequis/purple-facebook Seems that there is a pidgin plug-in, allowing to also connect to FaceBook.I'll give it a try, and let you know.----------EDIT once moreI tested it, it works fine! Now I have all my contacts together with a single app, FaceBook, MSN, GoogleTalk, I can talk with each of them without opening MSN nor FaceBook! Now I don't care each one's preferences, I talk with friends using any service!---------EDIT once moreThis plogin is not useful any more. Now XMPP protocol is available for facebook too, as username use your facebook username, the domain name is chat.facebook.com, see for instance here http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Quatrux 4 Report post Posted June 26, 2010 I also am using Pidgin for MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, but I don't use it for IRC, as it much more comfortable to use IRC using XChat for me, but also I use Skype separately. But as everyone moved to Skype, well most of people I usually chat, I just have Pidgin on and stay online for several people to talk to :)And I guess Google Buzz didn't made it, as I usually don't see a lot of talk about it and a lot of interest to get it. I tried pidgin but I did not like it at all. I am using digsby and believe me its just wonderful. You can connect to as many networks as you want. All of your accounts will be handled very smartly. The popup system is very nice and does not make it all just a menace. I suggest that disgsby is worth a try.
Quatrux 4 Report post Posted October 13, 2010 Well, I just checked digbsy screenshots on the net here: http://www.digsby.com/screenshots.phpSeems a good alternative to Pidgin, but it's quite similar from my first view, just the user interface is a bit different, but it now only depends on what you're used to use. I am quite satisfied with Pidgin As I understand, digbsy has some extra features, but I don't need them, I guess even though, a nice find, as it's also seems to be simple to use. I have multiple email accounts that I want to connect to simultaneously and I want real time update of each account separately. Also i want my email to be completely separated my chat (the email accounts such as yahoo, gmail, facebook are also the IM accounts) but i want them to be treated separately. Also i want a software that do not tell others that i am online when I have only logged in to my email account. For all these I found digsby as the only solution. That is why I like it and i speak of it. There are many alternatives to digsby and I have tried many of them but none came upto my taste. So In my opinion digsby is the best for the time being.
