Any Good Mmorpg Games

Recommended Posts

I can't believe EVE:Exodus only got 1 mention. It's the best MMOG out there IMO.

What attracted it to me is that it's in a different mould to most MMOGs out there. I can't stand the beardy-wierdy styles of things like Everquest or WoW. I've tried the trials for most of the big ones out there (EQ, WoW, Planetside, EVE, Anarchy Online) and found EVE to be the most enjoyable.

What keeps me subscribed is the massive amount of content and how it is very player driven. The game world is made out of corporations (EVE version of guilds) and corps can form alliances. These corps and alliances can form NAPs (non-aggression pacts) or wage wars against each other for whatever reason. Just read some of the posts in the corporations and alliances part of the forum.

There aren't any character classes per say but you do get to choose a proffession to go into. The best part is you don't have to choose at the very start although having an idea so you know where to place your basic stats does help.

Character skill training is done over time and not the tedious level grinding in traditional RPGs. Instead of killing rats to get a few XPs you set a skill and that skill trains up, even when you are logged off. It means power gamers don't get a massive advantage over people who can't play so long. The only downside is the older players do have an advantage over newer ones but that just means you'll need to specialise in your chosen race and career path. It may seem long and boring having to wait for levels to train up but it's a far better way.

It's a great game with lots of potential but it's just underated compared to all those other games that are great for a month or so but once you reach level x it's just get repetitive.

So go out and try the trial. It may be for you, it may not.

One I really like is Maplestory (though it's the only MMORPG I've played besides Ragnarok Online). You should try it, it's pretty addicting like most ORPGs and such, and the clothing and items are cool, though it's 2D.

I had a lot of fun playing Shot Online. It's a golf MMORPG, and was in beta when I played a few months ago. I glanced at the webpage and I appears to still be free, but may be improved from the beta I played.
When I played they even had regular tournaments in which you could win some pretty sweet real prizes.

now its alte and i really cant remmember if anyone said this but. World of Warcraft has to be favorite hands down. i know i know its a fad and since everyone plays it (10 million world wide), u must be tihnking this kid is just another to jump on the band wagon. but i assure u i have had my experiences playing MMO's wayu back in the days of D2 and EQ. those good for there times dont get me wrong, but now a days a player expects things to be perfect in there gaming experience and we all know that is impossible so pretty much im going on the basis of the MMO that i have had the least problems with these days and WOW, suprise suprise is the one. Blizzard may take 6 million years to realease a game, but by george when they do, they do it right!

I think it's subjective, to be honest. There's something for everyone if you know where to look. And if you're not into the subject matter or presentation, no matter how good the game engine is you're not going to like it.Say for example you like fantasy, but you prefer it "visceral" or "realistic". World of Warcraft isn't going to appeal to you. Conversely, if you're not really into Conan, Age of Conan won't be your thing. And Battlestar Galactica fans aren't going to enjoy either of those but will tend towards Eve Online. And then there's all of the free ones. Basically, just spend a little time on Google doing some research, and you'll find something that you're bound to enjoy.
