Looking For A Freeware Pim

I'm looking for a freeware PIM (personal information manager), something like outlook, but more lightweigth (and free of course ) .

It shouldn't be able to do much, just:

Calendar, Contacts and maybe capable of sending/receiving e-mail

Sync with a PocketPC

Sync with Google Calendar

Anybody knows a free app that can do this ?

Any lighter than Outlook would have to be Outlook Express.I'm wondering why not just use Google Apps (email, calendar, docs etc) with your domain? Or do you have a domain name? I suppose if you want to carry your PIM with you like in a PDA then I Outlook is the best. I have used all other so called free programs for PDA but all of them were crap. Outlook is by far the best PIM for your PDA. If you're using PIM for your laptop what's one little program like Outlook?

I'm more looking for an offline thing to organise my stuff. So it looks like I'm stuck to using Outlook as my PIM , ah yeah, it might have advantages I suppose . Btw, Outlook Express is a no go, it's crap .

I have an AT&T Tilt...and while this may help you or not, I just sync it via exchange to my mail2web account. They have free exchange hosting (well, kinda...there's no outlook support, but with a quirk you can log entourage or evolution into it) that will sync to your pocket pc and also supports push email.

I've found an unused Outlook version at home so I've installed that one and I'm quite happy now . Synching with Google Calendar is a bit tricky, but hey, it works .Now I only have to update, re-organise and clean up my contact lists

For free, you may not get all the features you want/need, but free is good no matter what!

Thanks for the hints . Too bad I'm a bit impatient, I went to the microsoft camp, knocked on their door and they've chained me to this beast they call Outlook . Nah, I'm pretty happy with outlook, it's a bit annoying in the beginning and google calendar synchronisation is a hard, but I just try to organise my whole life on my PDA .

It is PIM Xtreme and you can find it at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

It is Open Source licensed under GNU GPL, and that means it is free. You can handle contacts, calendar, events, to-do lists, and even financial stuff. I'm not sure about sync but you can export to iCalendar format, which it's supported by Google Calendar.

It looks good, but the GUI looks so unstructured and messy . I've quit looking for a freeware PIM for a while now, Outlook seemed to offer the best (and most complete) compatiblity with my PDA so I decided to stick with it. Using Freemycall I can export my calendar to iCalendar format and then import it in Evolution on my laptop ... it's not the nicest solution, but it works
